The Gardens of the Slovak National Uprising (Sad Slovensk'eho n'arodn'eho povstania) is the oldest park of Zilina. They were created in the late 19th century between Vsiv'ak stream (later redirected underground parallel to the park) and a row of Art Nouveau villas. One of the landmarks of the park is a beautiful fountain "The Zilina virgins" by Vladimir Komp'anek, a prominent Slovak artist from nearby Rajec. Originally it stood on Hlinka Square, and was moved to the park during the reconstructionof the square.
