As interesting the small town in Middle Franconia is, its name is also unusual. Wolframs-Eschenbach is said to commemorate the famous poet Wolfram von Eschenbach, as it is believed that the poet was born here. This has never been definitively proven, but that's exactly why the former Obereschenbach has been called Wolframs-Eschenbach since 1917. Here we see the Teutonic Order Castle, the Old Bailiwick and the Old Town Hall.

It's been almost nine months since the Almeda Fire began in Ashland, Oregon on September 8, 2020 & ravaged the nearby towns of Phoenix & Talent, driven by high winds & low humidity. This neighborhood was mostly reduced to rubble & much of the waste debris & dead trees have been removed. Rebuilding has begun in certain areas while mobile home parks remain vacant. Compare this panorama to this one taken just after the fire showing the progress: https://www.360cities.net/image/amfi10

If you enter the small resort Wolframs-Eschenbach through the medieval Lower Gate, the street climbs a little and as soon as you have mastered this incline, the view of the old town hall opens up. Today the Wolfram von Eschenbach Museum, the most famous son of this city, is housed here. The Liebfrauenm"unster with the characteristic tower rises in the background.

Wolframs-Eschenbach is a state-approved resort in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia. We are here at the Upper Gate Tower, also known as the West Gate. You can see the Kocherhaus from 1686 followed by the Lammwirtshaus from 1410 (opposite the bakery). The upper gate has the typical appearance of a medieval double gate system with a gate tower and antechamber. It was built in the 13th and 14th centuries.
