Located in the village of Coldingham in the Scottish Borders, the original Benedictine Priory was founded on the site of an earlier monastery by Edgar, King of Scots, in 1098. Like other monastic sites, it profited from land ownership, which brought income from timber management and from the rearing of sheep that produced wool for export. Such activities made one of the wealthiest religious houses in Scotland. And like other such establishments in a such a turbulent age, it was subjected to damage and destruction on several occasions, even at the hands of its own Prior. It was ultimately destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in 1650, who besieged it in an attempt to evict Royalist sympathisers sheltering inside. Today the ruins are scattered around the Victorian parish church, which was re-built using the surviving walls of the original priory church.

Valle tribolata (troubled valley) is located between Nure valley e Aveto valley. It's name is originated from the fact that it rensemble a scenography from Dante's inferno, where the path unravels through huge rocky debris with twisted and wild shapes The original equirectangular image is on flickr

Huntly Castle is a famous fortification renowned both for its impressive architecture and eventful history. The current ruin is the third castle to guard the strategic river crossing of the Deveron at its confluence with the Bogie. The first motte-and-bailey was built during the late 12th century. It was replaced by a stone tower house during the 1400s, when it was granted to Sir Adam Gordon of Huntly by Robert the Bruce. Successive Gordons of Huntly developed the stronghold into a stately stone palace. It was the 6th Earl of Huntly who added the heraldic frontispiece over the main entrance, the inscription on the roofline proclaiming the Gordons’ ownership of the castle, the double height oriel windows, the great round tower and rectangular turret, to celebrate him becoming the 1st Marquis of Huntly in 1599.

Bavaria: Moosbach - Parish Church Saint Johannes Altar Area

According to a boundary description from 819, the area around today's Moosbach was assigned to the Chamm"unster monastery, which later founded a village with a chapel here. Moosbach itself is mentioned for the first time in the oldest Wittelsbacher Urbarbuch (1222–1228) together with some surrounding villages. Around this time the construction of a church in Moosbach also falls. In the oldest parish register of the Diocese of Regensburg from 1326 Moosbach is already listed as a parish.Moosbach belonged to the Cham mark, was subordinate to the imperial estate district of the Reichsburg Cham and formed a border parish of the Cham deanery. When Duke Albrecht I redeemed parts of the Cham pledge, including the Moosbach parish, from Count Palatine Rupprecht on April 28, 1361, Moosbach came to the K"otzting court. In the course of the 14th century a Hofmark developed around Moosbach, which was in the hands of the Ramsbergers and came into the possession of the Nussbergers in the 14th or 15th century. On February 19, 1453 Konrad Nussberger sold the Hofmark Moosbach to Duke Albrecht III. In 1538 the sovereign "Hoffmarch Mospach" was already entered in the tax register of the Viechtach caste office. At the beginning of the 17th century the status of Moosbach was described as follows: "Hofmark, belongs with the maleficent to the K"otzting court, otherwise on the box at Viechtach" [2] In the years 1752/1760 there was only one main team Moosbach, which was subject to the district court Viechtach with all jurisdiction. The municipality of Moosbach emerged in 1818 from the former municipalities of Moosbach, Rubendorf and Viechtafell. This included the former main teams Moosbach and Rubendorf as well as a considerable part of the main team Prackenbach. 1952 belonged to the municipality Moosbach in the district Viechtach 23 districts. It was incorporated into the Prackenbach community on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria. Source: Wikipedia
