When most people talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) they tend to talk about getting more traffic to their website. Everyone wants more traffic. Right?
If you are like most film and video distributors, you care less about volume of traffic and much more about quality of traffic. The goal is to get the right people visiting your site. Can SEO do that for you?
Search Engine Optimization is about helping people who want to find your site, find your site. Optimize your site properly, target keywords intimately related to your business, and the high quality traffic will come.
By making a few technical improvements to your site right now, you can help search engines like Google and Yahoo understand and 'respect' what your site offers and then pass the good word on to the thousands of film and video license buyers who use search engines every business day.
Maybe a buyer only remembers a few words about a title they saw on the back of one of your sell sheets. Good SEO practice makes it possible for license buyers to find you using even the sketchiest keywords.
We've put together a checklist of nine very basic things you can do today to make sure your website is search engine friendly. Give your site an SEO tune-up, work hard posting keyword rich content, and you will be amazed how fast you can 'own' a set of keywords related to a film/video content category or genre. This means that whenever, or wherever, a buyer searches for content related to your business, they'll find their way to your website.
This checklist is just as essential for film and video distributors as it is for indie producers and film festivals wanting to boost their exposure. Everyone can benefit from these best practices.
9. Have you announced your site to the major search engines?
Search engines can't find you if they don't know about you. The first thing you need to do (once you finish reading this article) is to make sure your website is submitted to the major search engines.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you do this manually. We don't recommend that you use auto-submitter websites that promise to do this for you. Get off on the right SEO foot and do the submitting yourself.
Check out the IPEX TV blog for an article about submitting your site to search engines.
8. Did you add your sitemap?
A sitemap is a simple document placed at the root directory of your site and informs search engines which pages on your site are available for searching. It's like one of those big maps you see at audiovisual content tradeshows: but this one is for your website, and search engines love it.
7. Do all of your web pages have titles?
At the top of your browser window (on the same level as the close, maximize, and minimize buttons) you will find the title of the page you are viewing. This is some of the most valuable real estate on your site. If the only thing in this space is your company name (or worse, it just says "Untitled"), you're wasting a great opportunity. Use this space to attract search engine attention to specific keywords by writing unique page titles for every page on your site. The trick is to write a page title that is keyword loaded, but still seems natural to your actual visitors. Don't make these titles too long, but do make sure that the keywords you use in the title appear again in the body of the page. You'll be amazed at what an improvement this can make to your search engine results.
6. Do you have your 'alt' attributes defined?
When a programmer adds an image to a website, he or she uses an HTML code called the 'img' tag.
The 'alt' attribute (sometimes, mistakenly, called an 'alt' tag) allows you to specify some text that the browser will display in case your image is missing. In this example, an image of a sell sheet is 'tagged' with some words describing it (alt="Sell Sheet, one sheet, cinefiche"). This may not seem like a big deal, but these 'alternate' labels are necessary to help search engines understand the content of your page. Search engines cannot read images, so it's important that you help them out by specifying in the 'alt' attribute what the image contains.
5. Have you gotten your link out there?
Are you a contributing member of Wikipedia and/or the IMDb? Find places on these sites where it is appropriate to submit links. If these links make sense within the community, they offer better exposure than money can buy.
Add some of your best pages (not just your site) to social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, ma.gnolia.com, and myYahoo.
Get your friends involved. Link to their best pages, and ask them to link back to you.
4. Do you have any content?
Wooops. So, by now you should have a site that's pretty well technically optimized and search engine friendly. But do you actually have content people are searching for? For film and video distributors, getting your catalogue titles and old sell sheets on your site is an excellent step to getting keyword-rich content online that will be relevant to a wide variety of film and video content license buyers googling for new titles.
3. Have you prepared a list of keywords you like?
Put yourself in the shoes of your audience for a moment, and imagine sitting down to your favourite search engine. What are the search terms your audience is most likely going to use? Will these search words lead them to your site? Now, imagine the search terms they might use to find your competitor's web site. Make a master list of all these keywords, and decide which keywords you want to 'own'. This list is going to be your guide to the search engine friendly content you create.
2. Do you have a blog?
Getting your catalogue titles online is great, but it's very important to have a site that is up-to-date. A lot of people in the film and video distribution industry see a corporate blog as more of a hassle than a help. But blogs are quite simply the easiest way to keep your site fresh, get lots of sexy text for search engines to search, and interact with your clients. Indie producers and film festivals have been quick to understand their value-learn from their example. The best blogs are an appealing mix of industry news and personal observations. Use your blog to keep your clients up to date on your company, showcase new titles, and share interesting ideas.
1. Have you started already?
The good news about SEO is that it's never too early or too late to start. Don't for a minute think that you need a checkmark beside all 9 of these items before you can release your site to the public. And there is no need to do them in order.
The web is dynamic and flexible. Try some things out, and check the results. Try Googling your site and see what comes up. Try again, and adjust as needed. A little bit at a time is all it takes to make big improvements. Consistency counts.

How Much Should You Expect to Pay for SEO Services |

http://diaz07diaz.uniterre.com/1020031/How+Much+Sh...t+to+Pay+for+SEO+Services.html
The answer to this question is that how much you pay for SEO services depends on several factors. First of all how big is your website and how do you think SEO can help? Secondly how much money can you afford to spend on SEO? Thirdly have you thought about what kind of SEO service your site needs?
The top notch SEO services charge top dollar because they employ staff which will include receptionist, cleaners and ancillary staff as well as SEO experts. They will have an office suite to maintain and pay for. These basic running costs will be passed on to clients in their fee structure. Their services are expensive because they want to limit their client-base to large high profile companies with which they can work on a continuous basis. The bigger the company, the greater the need for SEO services, especially when new products and services are launched. They will also employ staff to work on online reputation management, although this is a separate issue.
Such companies will charge in the region of $1,000 US an hour for consultation only. However if you approach a smaller concern, you will expect to pay between $40 and $50 per hour. For a review of your site plus a consultation prices begin at around $500 and go up to around $20K.
You can opt to take a series of SEO seminars, and depending whether they are held on your premises or those of the SEO service, you can be charged from $750 to $12,000 for a day. That is a way forward if you want to do your own SEO
Some companies will charge a monthly retainer for their continued services and this costs between $2,500 and $20,000 plus. This guarantees the service when you need it and some SEO services will charge much less if they do not work for you during a month.
SEO services might, if they are extremely confident in their abilities, offer you a package which is rather like a pay Per Click (PPC) one, in that they bill you for the amount of traffic that comes to your site after SEO work and for the climb your pages have in the Search Engine Rankings pages (SERPS) and a share of your sales revenue after they have done the initial SEO work for you. This is called Standard Profit Sharing and you will have to pay a relevantly small amount as a down payment. There is also a Modified Profit sharing package which is more like a pay per action deal, where they get a share of the revenue from sales and not money from traffic or place in the SERPS.
A keyword search package is probably the cheapest SEO service you can buy, starting at $100 and going up to $2,000 or thereabouts. If you want someone to edit your pages and add keywords and links, then you can expect to pay $2,000 at the lowest end of the scale, although if you shop around you may get a better price. A manual link-building campaign will typically cost you $500 at the lower end of the SEO service scale.
Basically you get what you pay for, but you can get good SEO services from smaller companies who have staff who are knowledgeable in the field and who have a good reputation, as they don't have the overheads of large concerns. The people who work in small SEO services are often people who have decided to go it lone after seeing what can be earned by the larger companies. They can offer you their services more cheaply because they want your business and are more concerned about paying off their mortgages early than with making megabucks. Don't discount the little firms, but do take care when choosing them.

Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature - Effect on SEO |

https://justpaste.it/5rzzq
Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature; Is it a death-knell on all established SEO techniques? What is it's apparent effect on Search engine optimization? How is it going to affect the SERPs (results page)? A colossal change has just been made by big G. Google could not have gotten better at what it does. It revolutionized the search engine all over again.
To the makers of Google, it is nothing short of the fairy-tale crystal ball where they can see everything happening around in the universe. Everyone online is sort of an open book to Google whether you want it or not. And just when you thought that Google already knows too much about people; about what they thought, what they dreamed, what they pursued, what they shopped, what they searched, Google comes up with another milestone idea to get people even more personal; the ability to promote, remove search results by every individual on the planet and add unique comments to any of your preferred result. Wow, so what if you decide to promote a website from 50th page to 1st page. And let's say you demote a top ranking result into oblivion, never to be seen on the 1st page again. So in one click did you just kill the hype and hoopla of search engine optimization?
Because the best of optimized pages could literally be gone out of your sight with this tool if you decided to have it so. And if it is really so, then this is the END OF THE WORLD. Is it the END of conventional SEO? Do i hear a pin-drop silence?
No need to panic yet. If you see the buttons then you must have noticed that they appear only when you are logged in to your Google account, and the reprise is that they only affect the results that you see, not what the world does. Do i hear a sigh of relief? If you want to skip my detailed analysis and description of this feature, you may straightaway read the conclusion at the bottom.
How does Google promote/remove actually work? A specific example.
To check the same, simply log in to your account, let's say you do a Google search for the keyword phrase "webkinz dollar store", and click on the promote button next to a result in a subsequent page. You will immediately see it magically go to the topmost SERP in the 1st page. If you click on 'promote' for another "webkinz dollar store" search result, it will move into the second place on the 1st page itself. You can move the second web page to the first position by clicking "promote" on it again. Now Log out and search again for the same keyword, you will see your selected pages dropping back to its original ranking position. Login again and you will notice your chosen pages are back to your promoted order. If you click remove on any of your promoted website, it will return to its previous place in your Google search results. But If you click remove randomly on any un-promoted website, it will be permanently removed from any results. Of course you can get it back to the search results by clicking on restore at the bottom. The results are associated with your Google account only so they will be constant across any computes of you account logs.
At first instance it is bound to give the webmasters a cold feet with the thought that Google has handed over the fate of search engine results to people and everything about SEO goes to the dumps. It convincingly looks like, as if now people are to alter, improvise the worldwide top results for each search term. But it certainly isn't the case. It's only for your own Google account, for your own personalized result page order. And it is important to know that every new search term will have entirely different promoted and removed results than the other.
I'm sure even the biggest of SEO experts, guides and critics must have lost their nerve for a second with their first experience with Google promote and remove feature just as much as I did. So the big question still remains, is this the end of our struggle and success with SEO? Is it really all up to searchers and surfers to decide the ranks of our web pages? Are we supposed to watch helplessly all the big and popular web pages get to the top, while the smaller ones vanishing away? Thank the stars that it isn't the case.
What is Google promote / remove system called?
It's called SearchWiki. SearchWiki lets users have their own order of promoted and removed results, and leave comments on specific links. Google thus remembers changes that are made by the account holder to the organic search results pages, and subsequent searches will then be displayed as per the user's customisations and notes. And most importantly, users will also have the option of seeing how other searchers have rated and reordered search results and view their notes as well, making search results a innovative community based initiative.
Who does searchwiki help?
In course of time, it will surely make a huge impact on how SEO affects a site in my opinion. Prior to this feature, a webmaster was the only individual who had an influence on the SEO aspects but now each and every Google user has the ability to decide where that site should be listed, making search engine results a different concept altogether. It may even revolutionize the idea or existing technology like browser bookmarks and RSS readership.
Customized search result page? Is it happening?
The way it stands now, it isn't a possibility e.g., a specific page could be pushed to the top result for everyone just by getting shoppers or enthusiasts to 'promote' that site a million times. Neither can your competitors outrank your site by clicking on removal link a thousand times.
Yes, you can now customize your search results with the organic rankings, deletions, leave notes against each page for future reference and see how other Google users have tailored their searches. SearchWiki notes will be visible to other users, identified with your Google Account nickname.
What are the implications of Google searchwiki on SEO?
It is like an alarm bell for everyone to straighten up their act, specially thin affiliate sites, spammers or the ones resorting to black hat stuff. Yes sooner or later there will hardly be a scope for anyone to deviate even by an inch from the core of search engine fundamentals. That is relevance and accuracy.
Yes, many things will be affected from sales to delivery and reporting. SEO won't be dead but it will have evolved and more oriented towards content than techniques .
Google has been remarkable in preventing spam and this new tool on the prima-facie would not only generate more direct data for Google analysis but would also also initiate a mass spam removal movement worldwide. As far as promoted and removed data is concerned, Google obviously is wary of SEO masters using proxy servers running multiple alias sites and redirect pages and unethical methods that can easily used to promote a single page. Hence they will never make a mistake of simply considering all the votes gained for a page to it's ranking algorithm for organic searches without due verification. All of this will give Google a whole new perspective to search user habit and patterns by allowing the user to mix and alter the organic results itself. Unthinkable but true that it is already happening.
What if Google decides to apply the promotional and removal data to page ranks? Dooms day?
Top 10 ranking results will be flooded with the sites that the majority of people prefer. The hottest and most popular existing pages will fill up the top slots overnight, for every imaginable keyword search phrase. The scope for newer, smaller, unpopular websites will virtually perish with no place in the top noticeable positions. As a result it will hardly ever gain a promotion. And slowly it will stand as good as removed even if it is not.
It might be great to force people to look at the most popular websites, but the small ones which are less marketed or are comparatively of less value or quality will never stand a chance. Lesser traffic can never be the final diagnostic indicator.
But look at this from the perspective of a person who's looking to find something out. If I need to learn about the "webkinz dollar store", I don't frankly care whether that comes from a small blog or a an unknown forum page, as long as I find the info I need, and its reliable. And I can always find them right where i need from anywhere in the world.
For those concerned about SEO.
The agony or the anxiety about it's effect on SEO and rankings could be erased in a second just by reminding ourselves of the one and only governing factor about search engines, that their existence itself depends and will always be on it's ability to offer accurate and relevant information to the users and not anybody else. Even searchwiki, this new Google tool is intended with no other intent but relevance. Isn't it so common find relevant content even after page 10 at times? ( I don't know about you, but I do search deep when I need information ). In such a case one would either bookmark that page or copy the content for future reference. I always sympathize with quality web pages nowhere near to the top ranking positions. That proves that just great content alone can not guarantee top ten results. A multitude of factors like SEO, backlinks, sandbox are responsible to drive a page to the top. And the process itself is slow.
Relevance will now be "of the search (Google), by the search (Google) and for the search (Google)." Sounds quite like a democratic definition of a search engine.
Not so long ago when webmasters saw the immense potential in harnessing people's bookmarking habits, the craze of social bookmarking sites diggs, del.ico.us erupted overnight giving search relevance a completely relative meaning.
Things will now change. What better to bookmark a page from within the searches in just one click with no further accounts to log in to.
Backlinks and quality links are still the driving forces behind a websites rise or fall. It is equated as votes earned from other sites. As far as Google's stand point is concerned, a natural promotion of a webpage from different un-suspicious IP addresses can count as votes of relevance for a search phrase.
Scientists are maybe still trying to unify the forces of nature into one formulae, but looks like Google almost successfully unified the world.
Welcome to Google monopoly. Look how it gets bigger by the day.
One Account: Where your world converges.
(Oh if you haven't got a Google account yet. You will be compelled to have one sooner or later)
One Search Engine: The keyword manufacturing unit. Keyword demand supply chain. Unlimited Manpower at work for the biggest keyword market. From where internet business and ecommerce are governed.
One Search Tool (External keywords tool) : Manufactured keywords put on window display. Who does have a better authority to declare than Google itself, about what people are exactly searching for? Take it or leave it.
One Traffic Estimator: (Google lets you judge the cost of your keyword too) Window shopping for keywords.
One AdWords: OK so interested parties can shop for keywords from the keyword store.
One AdSense: Auctioned keywords recycled back to the people (searcher) working in the keyword factory.
One Webmaster Tools: The manufacturers of keyword money are now the safekeepers of all your keyword rich belongings.
One Analytics: Realtime live tv telecasting keyword news to keep the buyers and sellers interested.
One Web history: Refined fuel for the keyword engine machinery. Everyone's web habit and online track records are well kept with Google. They exactly know geo-specific, cultural specific keyword needs. Well who better to assign a price-tag to a keyword up for auction?
One Homepage (iGoogle): If all these have become second nature to you, then iGoogle is the way to stay hooked. You will get a handful on your finger tips.
And Now Google searchwiki: Google taking control of what you thought is best for you.
It is like, you have helped manufacture some great and moderate keywords so far, so why don't you manufacture some great result pages with your click votes too. After all there are a free gazillion keyword workers (search engine users) in the factory (Google) at any given point in time. Keep working a bit extra and Google shall know what exactly the gazillion wants to see or not see. The fairytale crystal ball is for real now.
Where do you stand? Your best kept secrets are the best resources to the Google rulers. Google knows what buyers want, what sells most. Google knows what sellers want, what buyers are willing to pay, how much are they willing to pay for, where do best buyers come from and the sellers too. The world wide web is not so entangled for the big G anymore. They conquered the world faster than Alexander.
Everyone's Top 10 Pages will look different for the same search phrase. Scary to even think about it.
Google has gotten perfect at eradicating it's imperfections. And if you thought you had a reason to point a finger at them due to erroneous relevant results, they gave the baton to you to improvise. Google may use 20 million algorithms in a millisecond to offer what is relevant. But now they will have a gazillion more from an entire planet to vote for and review their own definition of relevant searches.
Conclusion.
What are the future projections and it's impact on SEO practices?
1. Analysis of top ten projections and reporting is likely to change based on a world consensus.
2. The definitions for pagerank and rankings for single phrases and e-commerce variables could change. If a considerable number of people are not seeing a particular result in the first pages because they have it custom configured for a particular phrase with pre-selected results crowding the top, then definitely there would be lesser click-throughs as even the top sites will be pushed back further. Thus resulting in lesser visitor count for subsequent pages and affecting pagerank algorithms.
3. Marketers and SEO experts will have to look at a bigger picture than being obsessed with pagerank and rankings for single phrases.
4. Google AdWords will become more eminent as an assured method for topping the results with paid rankings, even if the user's result page is highly customized. This means more revenues for Google.
5. When everyone starts to promote their favorite sites, the quality of content will definitely become even more undeniable (as it should be), and "classic" SEO techniques will need a complete re-orientation.
6. Marketers and SEO industry now thriving on Google, will be more proactive on Yahoo, Quil etc as alternative options.
7. Since this feature is only for Google user accounts. As of now the page rank and result pages outside logged Google accounts will very much be based on the organic SERPs. Especially given the fact that yahoo still owns more account user bases than Google. But eventually they will dominate even more with search engine market share, because of their unlimited customizable features.
8. As this Search Wiki tweak can be highly prone to spams, we won't really see any sea change in the PR status radically soon until the rest of the planet not on Google account register and start using the feature.
9. Analytics will be even more laser focussed. Google will harness immense amount of personalized data and use them to improve relevance of results. You now will have to option to know your promotion vs removal ratio for every indexed page. You will soon know your popularity rank as much as your PR rank.
10. You will soon be presented with realtime reviews on your web pages moderated or not moderated by Google.
11. Websites with genuine content and relevance will now be a super must to even fair anywhere near.
12. SEO will spell "Authority pages" more than "Optimized pages".
13. Survival of the fittest will be the new Google theory.
14. All onsite testimonials and reviews on products, services often clinically engineered or manipulated will matter less because you will have realtime online reviews even before you land on that page. (Google comment feature = Realtime reviews)
Millions of webmasters and people must still be biting their nails, trying to figure out what is wrong or right with our big Google. How is it likely to affect the already established businesses, websites and SEO? But I hope this article gives you enough insight about our fate or growth on Google in near future.

Good keywords are frequently searched for (high demand) but not being targeted by many other websites (low competition). There are a number of tools out there that can help you find them.
Wordtracker
The best tool out there, Wordtracker is one of the most essential SEO tools. To use Wordtracker:
- Go to the Wordtracker website (http://www.wordtracker.com)and pay $7 for 24 hours' access
- Enter a keyword phrase you're thinking about targeting
- Wordtracker will suggest hundreds of related phrases - click on the ones you like
- Once you've clicked on all the phrases you like, run them through the program
- Wordtracker will compile a score for each phrase, based on the number of users searching for it and the number of websites targeting it
- The higher the score, the better the keyword phrase!
Wordtracker also offers a free service which works in the same way but only uses results generated from MSN.
Overture
Also useful, Overture's search term suggestion tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/), is free and much quicker to use than Wordtracker. It works in much the same way as Wordtracker but doesn't tell you how many websites are targeting each keyword phrase.
Google
Google AdWords Keyword Suggestions (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordSandbox) tell you which keyword phrases are being targeted by other websites.

The phrase 'Content is King' has become a mantra for the successful Internet Marketeer and the black-hat SEO consultant alike. It has fuelled my own business and provided me with countless opportunities to connect with individuals and businesses in the UK and Europe, all seeking an advantage over the competition through impressive article content and attractive copy.
I run a creative business that produces both article content and web copy. What's the difference? Content is generally designed to produce traffic, to bring people to your website. Copy is designed to make the customer click 'buy'. The difference isn't subtle, but it is vital.
Quantity vs. Quality
Generally copy equates to quality and content equates to quantity. In the world of SEO web content and copy, that's just how it plays.
I want to change this. I want a revolution of quality. Content can be high quality, copy can be produced in quantity. High quality copy-style content can be produced in volume. We shouldn't be filling the Internet, this amazing research resource with meaningless drivel. Paying some computer literate English-speaking writer in the Third World to produce semi-English articles at $1 per page is not helpful, it is content, but it is the lowest quality copy that might get a click, but is unlikely to make a sale. Content generates leads, copy produces sales.
You can employ a so-called SEO expert who doesn't use writers, they just take articles and put them through the article blender, they use content re-writing software that takes in someone else's articles and churns them out as article-garbage at the other end. However, if you want customers and not just clicks, you need an article writer. If you want clients you need a content writer to write the articles that will draw their attention to you. Real SEO experts know:
Content is not King. Quality Content is King.
Employing a professional content writer is an investment in increased traffic and sales. It's more than just raising your ranked position on Google, although that is very important. It's also about connecting with and effectively communicating with the potential customer or client. It's sharing an idea, a vision, a service, benefit or product with someone who could gain from what you have to offer. Sharing the benefits by using professional quality content writers means articulating those benefits in an attractive and appealing way that informs the client and educates them about your product or services. It's not just bringing the horse to water; it's encouraging it to drink at the same time. If you want the customer or client to search, click and buy from you in one action -
Superior Content is King.

Google has been updating and changing its algorithms for a few years now and webmasters need to keep up with the changes in order to climb the ranks of the Search Engine Ratings Pages (SERPS). Google is constantly (it seems) seeking to provide relevant, high quality content to its users in order to maintain its market share in the search engine scene.
For more than ten years, links and anchor text were integral to SEO, but this is no longer the case. Now webmasters should not solicit links, and any links should be relevant to high quality content, which is crucial to a site's success, or lack of it, in rising up the SERPS. The key words these days are repute and trust.
There are two new words in SEO which Google introduced in 2013; these are co-concurrence and co-citation. Let's take a look at what they mean and what they imply for webmasters.
Co-concurrence
Keywords, those all-important means of finding the article or site you are specifically looking for should not just be listed at the foot of an article, but they should lie within, or very close to, a link. Articles should never be over-stuffed with key words, as the emphasis is on making the content read fluently. If keywords play too much of a role in a text, the fluency is often lost.
Co-citation
This term refers to being mentioned in the same sentence, or at least on the same page as a website which has a very good reputation, and authority on the topic or brand, for example, that you are writing about. In the past Google has penalized people who have actively sought inbound links from other website; now you have to cite a reputed site, for instance, instead of using a link. It isn't simply that quality content is king, but that articles and other texts have references to others with a solid reputation in the same field.
Bad Links a Problem?
Webmasters have been plagued with the fear of having bad links which Google has said it will penalize for some time. Google has been sending out mixed messages about these, as it has, on the one hand, given webmasters the Disavow Links Tool, which serves to allow webmasters to tell Google which links they believe it should ignore. However, on the other hand, Google has been telling webmasters that it would be best if they didn't actually use the tool, but fixed those pesky bad links and removed them.
However, links are not bad in themselves and 'good' links are acceptable - Google hasn't outlawed all links. It is simply trying to make certain that all links are relevant to content. You may want to watch a video on YouTube by Mark Cutts of Google about good and bad links, although his responses to questions put by Eric Enge are not always as clear cut as webmasters would like. He points out that hacking blogs is illegal, and so should be penalized, and he also states that having a strong social media presence (followers on Google+, Twitter and Facebook, for example) is a good way to build links. You engage your followers and then produce content which is relevant to them, this gets you more visibility and helps get your content ranked more highly (in theory at least).
Google has promised to supply webmasters with examples of bad links, but so far has not done so. That means that everyone is at least a little in the dark. However what we understand now, is that all links are not inherently bad, and so will not be penalized. The basic message is to work harder to ensure your quality is high, and don't use what Google considers underhand methods of SEO.
Try to go through your website and weed out any links which are not explicitly relevant to your content, or use the Google Disavow Links Tool.
What you can also do is visit the Webmaster Forum every once in a while to discover what is going on in this area. Also subscribe (it's free), to Web Pro News to keep up to date with new developments. After all, you don't want to be left out in the cold. Keeping up with all Google's changes has become a bit of a nightmare, but stay with it and hopefully your site will rise to the top 10 in the SERPS.

Search Engine Optimisation should be a major part of any online businesses marketing strategy. The fact is that nowadays search engines are the first port of call for online shoppers and resultant businesses are forced to optimise to fit these engines. This applies in particular to Google due to their overwhelming market share. But how does Google go about measuring the value of sites.
Well, first and foremost comes great content. That is the foundation on which Google wants the internet to be built. It makes sense to as the most valuable sites are those with worthwhile content. That's what draws people in and gets links to your site.
Backlinks are a very good measure of your sites strength. The better your site the more people will post links to your site from other sites. Google values your site partly based on the number of these links your site has and the value of the sites providing them.
Another measure is the number of indexed pages. This once again is based on your content as the more good content you have on more pages the more pages Google is likely to index. For this it is important to have your site well organised and possibly invest some time in developing a blog.
Other than these factors which take considerable time and effort, there is one area where you can almost instantly improve the quality and Google's view of your site. This is done through onsite work, whereby you fix certain elements such as the title, URL, description and header tags so that they accurately represent your site. In doing this you make it easier for Google and users to determine what your site is all about making it more reliable and potentially higher ranked in search engines.
Of course once you get your site highly ranked it's still down to you to ensure that your site is consistently providing quality content as well as being reliable. Security is always vital and you might want to consider employing a money transfer service. This will allow you to process each credit card transaction more efficiently.
As a result of adjusting your site and ensuring it is effectively optimised for quality you will find that you can boost your rankings in Google and hopefully bring in more customers.
Sam Qam's website employs a money transfer service to handle each credit card transaction on his site.

Google is a Beast! The King of all search engines! If you have an Online Business, then Google can make your job a heck of a lot easier! But how can you beat the veterans at their own game?
To be notice you need to get on the first page of any search engine. And no! I am not talking about pay-per-clicks. That is a very competitive environment that can cost you more to run a campaign then you will receive in income!
So, what can you do to boost your ranking with Google? First, everyone knows about the basics, keywords, density, and new content. This will help your ranking with Google, but most people don't know about the other things that can boost your ranking.
First, what you already know, keywords and keyword phrases.
If you look closely, I have used "To Boost your ranking with Google" three times already. Why, because that is how you found me! Out of all the websites and blogs, this keyword phrase that I have been using has directed my page to you.
You want to pick out about three keywords or phrases that will explain what you are writing about. You want to sprinkle them around to keep your density up. Do not abuse the system though as I found out the hard way what Google spiders will do!
Your keywords should be something the average searcher will type. For example, you might write something about lower back pain right. If you use one of Googles free tool to find out good keywords like keyword track and type in lower back pain, it will give you all the keywords that are associated with that phrase. You want to pick the highest ones and use those.
I know, I know, "But, Gary, isn't everyone else using the same keywords?" Yes! But I'd rather play the game then be in a league of my own with no fans. Think about it. If your talking about lower back pain, you want to pick a keyword like lower back pain not Erector Spinae pain. People won't search for that.
Next, is your density. To Boost your ranking with Google, you want your keywords density to be about 4 % of your entire article. This will boost your chance without putting you in the red.
When Googles spiders look for your keyword, they like to see it a lot. That will tell the spiders that this is what this article is about. You can use a tool from Google. Just type in keyword density and use the free ones.
Next is your content. To Boost your ranking with Google, you must change your content regularly. Googles spiders hate left over night. Get the picture. Even if you have to right your articles over and over again putting more and more information in the mix, if it's keeping you on the first page then go for it!
Now, the good stuff! Back links! What is a back link? A Back link is another blog or website that is comparable to your site or niche. This is a lot like a tag-team event. You are buddy backing off of one another to Boost your ranking with Google. If you get about three or more back links this will definitely power up your Google ranking.
Simply contact the owner of the page and present the offer. But, be sure to buddy up with people that have a slightly better page rank then you. If you go the other route then your page will suffer. A thousand ones are only a thousand, but a hundred tens, in Google eyes, are ten thousand!
Next are Article Hubs. If you want to Boost your ranking with Google, not submitting articles to Article Hubs is a mortal sin! This mostly free technique is the Grandfather of buddy backing. Your article, with a back link to your website, will push you up and beyond the rest! Article Hubs are Google spider's favorite five-course meal.
This is what the gurus do and why this is such a hidden piece of information.

So basically the Google ranking is given by the PageRank algorithm that is like this:
PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) +... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
where:
PR(A) is the PageRank of page A,
PR(Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
C(Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1.
Here we see some interesting things: PageRank does not rank sites as a unit. Instead determines for each page individually. Also, you can see that the formula is recursively, where the Pagerank of page A is defined by the PageRanks of those pages that link to page A. So something you should consider is inbound and outbound links.
Link submission is a crucial part of ranking in Google so I will explain to you how I get ready for this process:
To start this process you will need some Anchor text and description that fit best your site. This is, create a few (5 o 6 to begin with) mixing keywords.
Place the keyword both in the Anchor Text (title) and Description.
Anchors usually can contain between 1 and 6 words and description can be up to 250 characters (this depends on the directory).
Later you can submit your site to many free Directories. Just Google search "Free Web Directories".
Here is also a small recommendation of SEO friendly directories that have really high Pagerank and can help you build a nice quality traffic:
1 ipl.org
2 dmoz.org
3 freeprwebdirectory.com
4 adirect2z.com
5 mastermoz.com
6 nuoret.org
7 searchsight.com
8 searchwiz.com
9 arakne-links.com
10 directory-free.com
Information like this will help you understand Google PageRank, and also improve your site ranking

Many local businesses hire SEOs (Search Engine Optimizers) to make their website search engine friendly so that it will rank higher in the search results. They pay from hundreds to thousands of dollars to have this service performed. The SEO's charge a large fee to make the website search engine friendly and then an additional monthly fee to either improve the rankings or at least maintain the current position in the search results. Although expensive, many businesses, don't mind paying the fee because they feel that they have to maintain a large Internet presence to attract customers and make money. It's a necessary expense.
But what most businesses don't know is that there is a shortcut to the front of the line - Google Map listings. Business owners know its important to be on the web, and they know that it even more important to be "findable". But they don't know how valuable Google Maps are in achieving this endeavor and they don't know how inexpensive this can be - basically free.
To help me make my point, conduct a Google search for a local business. Enter your city to tell Google where you want it to search and then enter they type of business that you are searching. For example you might enter, Palmdale Pet Groomers.
When you click the search button Google almost instantaneously returns the results of your search query. In this case, as in almost all local searches, Google displays a local map and listings of the top ten search results. And these top ten search results are at the top of the page above the regular web pages. It is the first thing the potential customer sees and because it is colorful display it attracts the viewers attention. To be included in these top ten search results is truly taking a short cut to the front of the line.
So the big question is how to be included in these top ten search results so that you can get the lion's share of the traffic searching for your product or service. The answer is it might be easier than you think and you don't have to name your business AAAA Car Repair or whatever your business is to get to the top of the listings. Google doesn't return the results in alphabetical order. They return results that are most relative to the search words. And the fantastic thing is the business owner can actually optimize their Google Map listing to get a more favorable ranking just like search engine optimization techniques for websites.
Is your business in the top ten search results? It could be. http://www.MyMapInfo.com

I'm sure that you check your website rank from time to time. However, results may not be that good to look at especially if your site does not appear on the list at all. The search engine that Google has makes use of a wide array of methods in determining which pages must be shown first on different search results. The formulas on how they do this is a secret however; you are not left without a choice with this. There are actually a few things that you can do that will allow you to push your website on the top of the list. This is basically called SEO or Search Engine Optimization.
The tips that I will be presenting you with in here may not actually bring your site on the first spot, but this will help you push it up a little. With these, you can ignore different spam offers from websites that usually tell you that they will submit your site to numerous search engines. Be sure to remove these from your options as to the reason that these are huge wastes of money and at times they may even ruin your ranking. Below are the tips, which you can make use of in improving your website rank.
Name Your Pages
Give your pages a descriptive name along with tag. This is very important if you want to improve your rankings. This would be so since Google search results through the use of a link that uses the webpage's title as an anchor. A link known as 'untitled' is not that very inviting or enticing, and most probably nobody is going to click on it. Whenever possible, try to use your page's keyword phrase in the title.
Density
One of the things that Google looks for when it tries to catalog different pages is the density of the keyword that was used for a particular webpage. This basically refers to how often the keyword used occurs. In increasing your density, be sure to use natural phrasing. Never attempt to trick the search engine by repeating the exact same word over and over again or by making your text "invisible." Trust me, this will never work and the worst part of this is that this may even actually get your site banned from the search engine.
Make an inviting and strong starting paragraph for your page. Be sure to do so since Google may not actually lookup beyond the first set of 300 words or so of web page. However it will surely look at the first paragraph and determine the keyword density. If you want to, you can examine your keyword density by using the Google Toolbar.
Keyword Phrases
Instead of setting your eyes on a single word, try placing in a few more words so that you can come up with a keyword phrase. In doing this, you may want to look at the details as to how keyword phrase affect search results. Now, if you were trying to look up your own website, what key phrase would you type into Google's search box for each of your web pages? Would you try to find super quick widgets? Would you try to find cooking with widgets? It may perhaps be quite beneficial for you to get a different perspective of this.
There are tons of other ways on how you can improve your website ranking in Google and other search engines out there. If you are in search for other golden advice on how you can boost your rankings, go to this site check website rank for more details on how you can actually do this.

Ever wonder what makes up the pieces of Google's search results? Before that question can be answered, the process of how Google delivers results must be understood. There are three key processes in delivering search engine results.
First, Google "crawls" the World Wide Web and accumulates information about websites and their content. The program Google uses to accomplish this task is referred to as Googelbot. Googlebot uses an algorithmic process to determine which sites to crawl, and how many pages to read from each site. Next Google compiles a massive index of all the words and locations of the sites it crawled.
When a Google user enters a query, Google returns a result they feel is most relevant. The results that are displayed are referred to as Snippets. In general, Google reserves the right to display what they feel is best for their users. However, you have a great deal of control about what is displayed about your agency on Google.
There are three primary components that make up a Snippet.
Title
The first line of the Snippet is the title. The title displayed comes from the title of your webpage. We have found many websites where the designer will overlook this very important step when designing websites for their customers. Webpages not titled will appear in search results with the title as "Untitled" or "Home Page" which does not encourage the consumer to click. Whereas a title listing your agency name and a slogan or short concise description of what your agency offers would encourage the consumer to click and learn more about your insurance agency.
Description
The description listed by Google typically comes from one of three places.
Open Directory - If for some reason, when Google attempts to "crawl" a site and they are unable to read it, Google will then sometimes rely on the Open Directory Project, which is listed at http://www.dmoz.org
Within the Page - Sometimes, Google pulls the description from within the page. Google determines what part of the page it will use so the description gives some context as to what the page contains.
Meta Description Tag - the most preferred method and where you have the most control of what description is displayed is the Meta Description Tag which is included in the code of your website. By including a Meta Description Tag, you have the ability to dictate what is displayed about your site.
Link Displayed
The last component displayed is the link to your website or the page on your website that meets the searchers' query. Providing a descriptive URL is another key aspect to converting a searcher. For instance, a URL such as www.sampleinsurancewebsite.com/page.php?id=5134, doesn't tell the searcher they have landed in the right spot, whereas a URL such as www.sampleinsurancewebsite.com/automobile/car_insurance_quote.aspx will.

Search engine optimization, more commonly referred to as SEO, is of course the process which involves getting a website ranked higher in the major search engines. The problem with SEO is that professional firms can be very expensive, which is why many people prefer the "Do SEO Yourself" mentality. In this article I am going to share with you how to do SEO Yourself, and show you at what point you should consider higher a professional internet marketing consultant to perform SEO services for your company or organization.
If you want to do SEO yourself, then the first thing that you need to learn is the value of keyword research. If you are wanting to perform SEO on your own website or web properties, performing adequate keyword research is the first step.
So, how do you perform keyword research? There are many paid tools out there such as Micro Niche Finder, Keyword Elite, and Market Samuri, however from my personal experience I can tell you that the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool works just as well. You should not spend money on tools that will not help you! Even though this tool is called the AdWords Keyword Tool, it still works extremely well for SEO purposes and is recommended by many SEO consultants.
Now, go to the Google AdWords keyword tool and type in your keyword phrase. You can go to the "advanced options" tab and select local searches, global searches, and a lot of other search parameters. I usually only consider the global searches, and I make sure that I change the parameters so that the tool will only return results from English speaking countries. This is a great tool to use if you want to do SEO yourself.
You can then type several keyword phrases into the search field, and the tool will show you how many monthly searches a particular terms gets.
Hot Tip: Focus on the Phrase Match of a keyword, because it is much more accurate than the broad match.
After you find a few keywords that you want to rank your website, blog, or article for, it is time to analyze your competition. In order to do this, you need to install SEO Firefox. It is a free plug-in that allows you to analyze the strength of your competition for a particular keyword phrase.
When you do SEO yourself, you must analyze the first page competition thoroughly. You should look for keywords that have a lot of articles and inner pages ranking highly within the search engines. This typically means that your keyword is easier to rank for, because a lot of home pages are not optimized for that particular keyword!
In addition, you should look at the following factors with SEO Firefox: Domain Age, Number of Backlinks, Number of Pages, and the PR (PageRank) of a website. By analyzing these factors, you can determine whether or not you can rank on page #1.
Most people think that SEO stops there, but if you want to do SEO yourself then you must realize the important of one thing: Backlinks. Backlinks to your website essentially counts as a "vote" from Google, and the more high quality backlinks you have, the higher your website will rank in the search engines.
So, how do you get backlinks?
In order to get high quality backlinks, you can comment on blogs within your market, write keyword rich articles, and submit press releases with an anchor-text link back to your website. These are simple methods to increase the number of backlinks to your website, thus improve your search engine rankings!
One more thing: If you are optimizing your website or blog (as opposed to an article) for the search engines, then make sure you build your website on the WordPress Platform. WordPress is a great way to do SEO yourself, because you can install a plug-in called the All-in-one SEO Pack. This Plug-in will take care of the many on-page optimizations factors for you!
This is a great guide to follow if you want to do SEO yourself. Just make sure that you do not hesitate to contact an internet marketing consultant in order to get the ball rolling. Often business owners do not have the time to do seo themselves, which is where hiring an internet marketing consultant can actually save you a ton of time and money!
Do you want to take your business to the next level with serious online marketing consulting?
