قام النحات البارز والفنان الشهير نيكولاي شماتكو ، بنحت تمثال على شرف صاحبة السمو الملكي الأميرة بسمة بنت سعود. جرى نحت التمثال تقديرا لجهود سمو الأميرة في المجالات السياسية وحقوق الإنسان ، ودعمها وتجسيدها لدور المرأة العربية التي تدعو إلى الإصلاح في بلدها . ويعرض التمثال في معرض شماتكو نيكولاي ليرمز الى ذكاء وحكمة وجمال صاحبة السمو الملكي .


ويتناسب التمثال، مع الافكار والإبداعات الفنية لنيكولاي شماتكو في إبراز صورة المرأة ، ووقع إختياره أن يقدم نموذجا لجمال المرأة من خلال صورة جمالية نحتية لصاحبة السمو الملكي الأميرة بسمة. 
و في معرض رده عن سؤال لأحد الصحفيين عن الدوافع وأسباب اختياره لشخصية الأميرة بسمة ، أجاب قائلا في 
“أخبار معرض الفنون” 20 فبراير 2013 “إنها امرأة ذكية و حكيمة وجميلة و هى في الوقت نفسه ، سياسية وناشطة في مجال حقوق الإنسان ، حيث تطالب بإجراء إصلاحات في بلدها و تدافع عن حقوق المرأة العربية و لا يستطيع المرء الإ أن يبدي إعجابا بها ،و بعملي هذا أظهر تقديري واحترامي للأميرة “.


وقد صنع تمثال نصفي للأميرة بسمة من الجبس ، وهو يشكل بداية عمل نيكولاي شماتكو ، فقد قرر صنع تمثال لصاحبة السمو الملكي الأميرة بسمة ، من الرخام الأبيض الكرارة . وهو الحجر المفضل للفنان ما سيضفى على التمثال رونقا ولمسة من الحنان والصقل و الطابع الملكي . إن النحات يسعى من وراء هذا العمل الفني ، ان يكون- لأسباب كثيرة- بمثابة تذكار في حياتنا فنحن مدينون للأميرة لجهودها الإنسانية المثيرة للإعجاب.


الفنان


يشتهر نيكولاي شماتكو بأنه ملك الرخام وأستاذ جامعي. و قد ولد فى أوكرانيا ويستخدم هذه البلاد كقاعدة أعماله. و قد صنع أكثر من 750 عملا طوال حياته المهنية كفنان و حوالي 500 لوحة دون أي مساعدة أو رعاية من الدولة. إن مجموعته تعرض حاليا في معرض “شماتكو وأولاده” و توصف بأنها فريدة من نوعها فهو يعرض 70 تمثال مصنوعا من الرخام الإيطالي والأورال بما في ذلك نحو 300 من الصور واللوحات والرسومات. المصادر

A Sculpture has been made in honour of HRH Princess Basmah

A sculpture has been made in honour of HRH Princess Basmah Bint Saud. It has been displayed in the Gallery of Nikolai Shmatko to represent HRH’s intelligence, wisdom and beauty. It has been made in recognition of HRH’s political and human rights efforts, as well as her embodiment of an Arab woman calling for reform in her county.


The sculpture has been said to be consistent with the main focus of Nikolai Shmatko’s artwork in creating women’s images. This time, he decided to represent the ideal of woman’s beauty through a sculptural portrait of HRH Princess Basmah.
The sculptor was asked by a journalist the reasons behind his choosing HRH Princess Basmah for his artwork as well as why he was attracted by this image.


He was quoted in “Art Gallery News,” 20th February 2013, as saying, “She is a smart, wise woman of earthly beauty, and, at the same time, she is a politician and a human rights activist, who demands for reforms in her country and protects the rights of Arabic women. One cannot help admiring her. With my work I showed my respectful attitude to the Princess.”
Her bust has been made from plaster, but this only marks the beginning of his work. Nikolai Shmatko has decided to create the image of HRH Princess Basmah Bint Saud Bin Abdulaziz in white Carrara marble. This is the sculptor’s favourite stone, which will enable the image of HRH Princess Basmah to be created with refinement, tenderness and royalty. The sculpture would like this artwork to act as a reminder that, for many reasons in our lives, we are indebted to the Princess for her admirable humanitarian efforts.


The Artist


Nikolai Shmatko is renowned as being the King of marble and a professor. He was born in Ukraine and uses the country as a base to create his works. Throughout his career as an artist, he has created over 750 monuments and about 500 paintings, without any state or sponsor help. His collection is currently exhibited in the “Shmatko & Sons” gallery. It is described as being unique, displaying 70 sculptures made from Ural and Italian marble including around 300 paintings, pictures and drawings.

The sculptor stressed that he was inspired to create this work by his recent travelling around Ukraine. "I was shocked of what I saw: ruins, poverty, a total decay. However on TV the politicians tell us that everything is fine and will be even better. But Ukraine is different. Now you will see the way it looks."



 

"Yes, this is what it is - the Ukrainian potential - a woman who has grown old but still cannot give birth to a child, cannot produce anything new. I didn't say that I would represent anything beautiful. I am trying to show life as it is. It is our bitch of a life. That is why there lies a dog near the woman and chews on a bone."

N. Shmatko deliberately exhibited his new work in the company of his earlier sculptures at which the politicians of the past and the present are depicted. The sculptor stated: "This is Ukraine and those who brought it to such a condition." Speaking about V. Yanukovich, the artist emphasized that in his opinion the current president had not realized totally his potential yet. "He has to go to people and listen to them but not cut himself off by "a flock" of guards, this will not lead us to anything positive."
N. Shmatko also represented an installation made of materials at hand which is a seven-meters composition being, by the words of the sculptor, his reaction to the statement of one of the ministers that he recently heard: "The minister stated that with giving subsidies the control will be toughened not only for the incomes but also for the expenses of people and they will be deprived of the help of the state if they buy expensive things for themselves. It means that the state offers us help on one condition only: we have to lead a dog's life. In other words, what do we receive from the state? A phallus, this is what we receive. So I decided to depict it. It is stylized, of course. I didn't want to make is close to a real one, or they would call me a pervert."
