Fruit Themed Yoga Poses for Kids

Doing yoga with fruit-inspired poses is a playful way to get kids moving. Here are some apple coloring page and veggie themed poses to try:
 
Banana Pose 
Pretend to peel a banana. Reach overhead and bend sideways in a crescent shape. Keep knees slightly bent like a banana.
 
Carrot Pose
Sit on knees and stretch arms straight overhead with fingers pointing up. Reach tall like carrot greens growing upward. 
 
Pea Pod Pose 
Lie on back bringing knees into a bent position at chest. Wrap arms around legs into a tight ball. Feel like cozy peas in a pod.
 
Watermelon Slice Pose
From hands and knees, shift hips back so they rest on heels. Stretch arms straight out with palms facing down. Relax like a cool slice of watermelon. 
 
Apple Picking Pose
Stand tall. Reach up high with one arm at a time, alternating sides as if picking apples from a tree.
 
Broccoli Tree Pose
Stand on one leg, flexing foot. Bend other knee placing sole of foot to inner thigh with knee pointing out. Stretch arms overhead like a broccoli tree.
 
Grape Cluster Pose
Sit crisscross. Wrap arms under knees and hug legs into body to form a tight ball. Round back and drop head like a cluster of grapes.
 
Incorporating fruit and veggie poses makes practicing yoga and mindfulness more fun and engaging for little ones. Pair the movements with lessons on healthy eating habits for extra benefit.
