Ranking for keywords is not nearly as easy as it used to be, even if you are the first on the scene. In the past it simply took a ridiculous amount of content that was packed with keywords, perhaps to the point where a human could not read it, to rank highly on search engines. Then came the days of building inbound links and/or buying bundles of inbound links to drive traffic, but that day is now fading away too. Why do these techniques come and go just when people can figure them out? It is the very fact that people are figuring them out that is the problem. The only answer is to stay on top of the latest SEO techniques, but that is easier said than done.
The easiest way to stay on top of real SEO techniques is not popular, but it has to be said: pay for it. The bottom line is that search engines only remain in power and relevant so long as they return results that users want, not what content writers wish. Sometimes those are the same thing, but there are only so many links on any search engine result page (SERP) for content links and meta-descriptions. This means competition is part of the game, and search engines know that this drives some people to the point where they try nearly anything to get on top...even if it is unethical and/or goes against the needs and wants of the search engine.
As a result, search engines constantly update their SEO algorithms, and the code that compares results of different algorithms to uncover anomalies that might be telltale signs of an attempt to trick a single type of SEO routine. With so many algorithms and comparative analysis software running, it really does take a small company to continually monitor what is happening with SEO in real time. A few additional workers are required to update documents and even more workers are required to keep SEO-related software up to date. All of this labor does cost something, but failing to adhere to the latest in SEO might mean spending endless time blogging to little or no avail. The choice is ultimately yours.
You might try taking the so-called 'free' route and trust websites and forums that have potentially outdated information and risk taking bad advice that could leave lasting harm on a website from an SEO point of view. The worst-case scenario is that you end up spending a ton of time and hurting a website rather than helping it. On the other hand if you do decide to opt for paying for the latest tools and information from companies like SEO Moz, then it only becomes a question of learning how to use those tools effectively. Luckily, companies like SEO Moz pack plenty of instructions and how-to guides into their site, which means that success is only a matter of effort and diligence at this point.

When starting an online business, you will have to size up your competition. This is going to give you an edge in competing effectively in Internet marketing. Knowing your competitors, what they are doing and how many there are is only one aspect of the research you'll need to do. The other is being familiar with the demand for your product or service. To stand out from other web-based sellers or providers, you want to gain the knowledge of the quality of competition your site will face, as well as how many customers want what you have.
Researching the competition websites
It's very simple to go online to find out everything you want to know about your competitors. Take any major search engine and type in one keyword that relates to your business. You'll see a number of websites appear and you can check out a number of them. See what they are doing as far as website promotion and search engine marketing. Do they have quality copy on the site? How do they advertise? What sort of design do they use? How do they implement SEO? All these things can give you ideas of what you can or even what you shouldn't do.
How Many Competitors are You Going to Find?
Check out the number of competitors you will have on the Web. You will be able to see, once you've searched a keyword, how many pages come up as a result. Not all the pages showing will be ones that are actual competition. If you want to show more accurate results, take a keyword phrase and put it within quotation marks when typing it into the search engine.
An example would be this: Say you are starting a business selling copywriting services in California. Your keyword phrase could be 'California copywriting services'. When typing this into Google search, you find an unbelievable amount of 97,900 pages come up. However, put quotations around these same words and you get only 3 results. Reduces the competition, doesn't it? This amount of difference isn't always the case, but you will find that fewer pages come up when using quotes.
Get Great Tips from those Paying Advertisers
Look to those who have the sponsored results in the search engines. Your competitors who are paying to advertise using pay-per-click marketing will usually appear at the top of the results list, sometimes in a little different format. If these types of listings show up, you can bet that they are making some sort of profit from selling their product or service. You should look into their sites, looking at what they are selling and how they are presenting it. Look into both these pay-per-click advertisers and the others listed below who show up in the natural rankings. You'll learn quite a lot.
As you go forward with your research, don't let the competition scare you. When there is quite a bit of competition, you can extrapolate from there that the demand exists for your niche. You just need to do a proper analysis and learn key tips from it. See what they are doing well and improve on it for your business. Perhaps they have an easily navigated site. Make note of this. See what they don't do well. Perhaps they have copy that looks unprofessional or is confusing. Avoid that aspect or take the hint, make it so it works and run with it. And remember, if there isn't much competition, this can indicate little demand. You might not make a profit with a business in this area.
Is There Really a Demand for Your Product or Service?
Besides finding out if there are a large amount of people selling in your field, there are other ways to work out the demand for your niche. To get you going, here are ways to work out whether your web-based business will get the hits you need and how to do good website promotion:
1. Go onto the online article directories. See if there are articles related to your business product or service. If many are out there, you can figure there is a high demand. Check out the links within the articles and analyze the websites of those marketing this way.
2. Join some online social networks and discussion groups that relate to your business. You can see from the conversations and comments what people are interested in and what they are talking about. You can see if there is some aspect of what you are doing now that you can revise in order to meet some need that isn't currently being met. Ask others for comments on your product ideas.
3. Look into books and magazines that are published about your business area. Publishing these costs money, so you know there must be a demand for the item. Look at the advertisements in the back of the magazines. If there are many ads for that product/service, again, you know there must be a demand.
If you try to launch your web-based business when you aren't able to develop a unique Internet marketing strategy, the market is saturated or there isn't a demand for your product or service, you won't have success in your endeavors. However, if you can create a unique marketing angle, fill a need that isn't being filled currently and also know there's a demand for what you are selling, you can outdo the competition on every count. By researching your market, you will get the leading edge and become a real winner in your field.

Many search marketers see keywords as nothing more than words. But your website keywords are a valuable marketing asset. If you know the exact keywords your prospective customers are using to search for and find the products or services on your website, you have the distinct advantage of being able to tap into the huge lead generation potential of search engine marketing.
Where Can You Find Keywords for Your Website?
There are a number of methods to find keywords for your website search marketing efforts, yet some are better than others.
Brainstorm keywords - You can grab a pen and paper and jot down keywords you think users may or may not use to find your website. Clearly, this method has its limitations because there's no way you can account for the endless possibilities.
Keyword suggestion tools - Getting lists of keywords from keyword suggestion tools has value in search marketing, but it will only take you so far. Keyword suggestions a great for new websites with no query history to draw from, but these suggestions are based on guesstimated data and on keywords that may or may not work for your website.
Your own site analytics reports - In my opinion, the best keywords to target are the actual keywords users typed into search engines to land on your website, so you know these terms are 100% relevant to your website and customer base and are proven to drive traffic and conversions. This information is all in your website's historical data files, which you can access through site analytics or server logs.
The other benefit to using your own website to find keywords is that the data is private and known only to you. With keyword suggestion tools, for example, these tools are open to everyone who wants to use them, including your competition so there's no competitive edge.
What to do with Your Personal Website Keyword Data
Once you've generated your list of highly relevant keywords by mining your website's search query historical data, the next step is to take action. Knowing the keywords that actual searchers used to land on your site, allows you to:
Write website copy for your target keywords - By creating optimized search engine optimization (SEO) or pay-per-click (PPC) landing pages based on your proven keywords, you're creating pages that are extremely relevant. Pages with higher degrees of relevancy perform better and rank higher in paid and organic search engines results and are much more likely to convert because, being closely aligned to the target keywords, they mimic the searchers query.
Create effective PPC ads - One of the keys to PPC success is to craft compelling but relevant text for your ads. The more relevant your ads are to the keywords you're bidding on, the higher the likelihood that searchers will click on your ads and land on your website, where your optimized website copy will improve your chances of getting a conversion.
Point is, by identifying the keywords that real people have actually used to find your site and incorporating those keywords into your daily search marketing efforts, you can turn your website into a highly-effective traffic and lead generating machine for both SEO and PPC.

There are several press release distribution and submission services available online. These services include HTML links in the body, multiple categories and tags, a free account, and sometimes even a video press release. They provide spam protection to the client's email address, and create a search engine optimized web page and its PDF version.
Distribution Services
The distribution services provided for press releases include distribution to Google News and many other search engines. These seo facilities also offer a number of JavaScript, html, and RSS feeds. Clients can get their own press room, and powerful advanced search options. The distribution services also provide customized real time or daily or weekly alerts.
The Benefits Of Distributing Press Releases Are:
* Increased traffic for client's website
* Better search engine rankings
* Increased brand value in the social media
The first step in making a press release successful is identifying the target audience, that is, whom the message is meant for. If the readers of it are not the client's target market, then, most probably, they will not show even an iota of interest in what the client has to offer. For instance, if the target audience is deaf and dumb, there is no use selling a television or a radio set to them. These readers would most likely be offended, leave aside interested in the product.
This instance might be an exaggeration, but it clearly proves that without a target audience, the client's press release will not be of any significance. The best it can bring to the mind of the readers is shock and confusion, but not anything near to a sale. This is the reason why distribution and submission should be done carefully, keeping in mind the target audience's tastes and preferences.
Research and find out more about the target audience, their tastes, and their buying habits before submitting a press release or before sending it for distribution. The more the client is clear about his aim, the clearer he will be about his release distribution needs.
The second step is to find an appropriate distribution site to do the job. An experienced and knowledgeable service provider can do wonders to a client's business. These providers are aware of the partner sites and media, which can give him the proper exposure for their business. This helps in better conversion rates for client's leads. Readers can instantly turn into customers with this approach.
If the press release distribution service and the client have done their homework, be assured that the readers will be the target audience.
The message intended for the readers will reach the potential customers. Clients can also choose to distribute their releases by geographical, industrial, and specialty market. Also, it is mandatory that the information should not violate copyright norms, should be authentic, and most important, timely.
To increase his website's exposure or get a message across a targeted audience, a client should simply register and submit his press releases quickly and easily. He can simply avail the press distribution services.
WL Marketing is a great place for press release distribution. They also provide seo services. For more information visit the given link.

So you have a site concept developed that you are ready to start writing great content for.
So what's the next step?
It's time to develop your " master keyword list " which you will use to craft your WebPages. These are the words or phrases you would like to get ranked high in the search engine's for and get the free targeted traffic that this will bring to your website.
It is not enough to simply "pluck" words from the air and start writing your web pages. You need to carefully select which words and phrases to target.
Food for thought:
--------------------------------------------------------
What if there are already 10 billion web pages about your chosen keyword(s)?
--------------------------------------------------------
Do you think a small business owner can compete with large companies who invest millions of dollars into their SEO strategies for highly competitive, high traffic keywords?
Obviously the answer is no but there is a bright side to the equation if you are willing to invest time into researching your keyword phrases carefully. You will want to choose "niche" keywords that offer a combination of high traffic and low competition.
This of course is easier said than done but it can be accomplished as long as you use some of the help that is available on the internet.
Here are a couple of first steps, tips and tools you can use to put together a list of niche keywords for the website topic that you have developed.
1. Keyword Brainstorming and Research
Think of throwing out a "wide net" here and try to write down as many keywords and phrases (consisting of 2-4 words) that are related to your Website Concept as you can.
Take each one of these words/phrases and visit: http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
Type the first keyword phrase into the " Get suggestions for :" box and hit the search button.
This will return you a list of words and phrases that are similar to your keyword phrase and also provide you with the number of searches for each of these results on the Yahoo-Overture network for the month.
Copy all of the keyword phrases that you think best suit your site concept along with the search data into a text file or spreadsheet. Save this file as your " master keyword list ".
Note: Some of the results will be totally unrelated to your site concept you do not need to copy these into your "master keyword list".
Repeat this process for all of the keyword phrases that you initially brainstormed. By the end of this process you should have a "master keyword list" of several hundred or thousand words and phrases.
Google provides a free keyword research tool as well but does not provide the search statistics that Yahoo-Overture does. Augment your keyword list with any results that you find relevant using this tool. http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordSandbox
2. Refine Your Keyword List Part 1
You need to shorten your keyword list to a tightly targeted and highly profitable subset of your master keyword list. These are going to be the words you use when crafting your web pages for the search engines.
Start by performing searches for each keyword phrase in your master keyword list at: http://www.google.com
Google will tell you the total number of sites it has indexed for the keyword phrase that you are searching for. Copy this number into your master keyword list for each keyword phrase.
You will now have the data for the number of searches on the Yahoo-Overture network for the month and the number of competing websites for each keyword phrase in your list.
Think of these numbers as supply(websites) and demand(# of searches) . Finding the supply/demand number for each keyword phrase will help you decide which one's you want to target.
You will have to use your own judgement here depending on your goals and the amount of traffic you would like to generate. Make sure you have a nice mix high traffic and niche keyword phrases in your master keyword list.
It's not that useful to be ranked #1 for a keyword that only gets 5 searches a month. Similiarly, it is very hard to achieve high rankings for high traffic keyphrases because there is going to be a lot of competition.
Trim your keyword phrase list down to 50-100 entries and get ready for step 3.
3. Analyze the Competitor's Backlinks
There are 3 purposes to this analysis: analyzing whether a chosen keyword space is too competitive, identifying potential link partners (to be used in a later lesson), and to trim your "master keyword list" down to 15-20 keywords that have a reasonable level of competition.
To get started take the first term in your master keyword list and perform a search for it at: http://www.google.com
--------------------------------------------------------
Note: we are only going to be interested in the "top 10" results for each keyword phrase since our goal is to get listed on the first page of results for our target keywords.
--------------------------------------------------------
Our goal from this analysis is to find out how "established" your competition is in your chosen keyword marketplace. An analysis of the number of sites that link to your competitor should give you an initial indicator of how important their website is to the world. If a lot of websites are linking to your competitor they must be providing valuable content or a useful tool/service.
To find out who is linking to your competitor visit: http://www.uptimebot.com and enter the first domain from the Google Search results into uptimebot's search bar.
Uptimebot will then query all of the major search engine's and return a report showing the number of links the domain has pointing to it. A site with a lot of backlinks to it must be an information hub and therefore very important.
Perform this uptimebot search for all of the "top 10" competitors from your initial Google search results.
If you are finding that the sites in the search results have several 1000 backlinks to them you will know right away that you are going to have a hard time getting a high ranking for that keyword since a large number of links suggests that the site is already a well established information hub in that keyword marketplace.
Uptimebot also provides you with a link to the search results showing you the actual websites that are linking back to your competitor. Visit as many of these sites as you can and try to identify which ones have complimentary content to your site. You may want to consider contacting the owner's of those domains to request a link to your site.
4. Refine Your Keyword List Part 2
After performing this analysis for each keyword phrase in your master keyword list eliminate the keywords that you identify as having too much competition (i.e. too many well established "hubs"). We will use this list in the next lesson to start writing your first web page
Using these tips you should now be able to tell which market's you will be able to compete in and which one's already have too many established information hubs to make it worth your while. You will also have a list of "complimentary" websites that you may want to consider requesting links from in the future to help boost your website's "link popularity".

Niche Keywords
It is common knowledge amongst search engine optimizers that finding "niche keywords" is fundamental in our quest to attract visitors to a website. There are many keyword suggestion tools that claim to find niche keywords but in practice they generate lists of keywords without any practical means or guidance for separating out the niche keywords for us. In this article "keywords" includes keyword phrases.
How do we define a niche keyword?
Surprisingly, there does not appear to have been even one serious attempt at a definition of a "niche keyword".
The following definition is recommended: A niche keyword is defined as having an above threshold search volume for the targeted locality of a website with potential for top ten positioning on the search engine results page (SERP) for that locality (country).
Locality
Although websites remain reachable from any location, the vast majority of websites are targeted at visitors within a country, state/county/province, or city/town. Only a minority of websites aim to provide information universally or seek sales internationally. Locality orientated searches form the fastest growing sector on the internet - currently estimated at 12%. A search that includes a locality has a better chance of converting on e-commerce and e-marketing websites.
When we seek niche keywords for locality based websites, we need data on the number of searches conducted for that locality and an assessment of the competition for the country specific search engines. The most popular search engine is Google. Examples of Google country specific search engines are Google.co.uk, Google.ca (Canada), Google.fr (France) and Google.jp (Japan). In addition to having the largest search database, and being free of charge, the Google keyword research tool has the advantage of providing both global and country specific monthly search volumes.
Threshold Search Volume
The threshold search volume that is acceptable for a website is dependent on its purpose.
A global information website might choose a threshold search volume of a thousand searches per month before it would consider creating a web page focused on a keyword.
A website seeking clients within a locality might consider the return on investment acceptable for developing a web page on a keyword with potential to attract even one additional client a month.
Top 10 Positioning on Search Engine Results Pages
Few searchers click on web pages positioned below the top ten on SERPs. Whereas 42% of searchers click on the number one positioned web page for a search, only 0.7% of searchers will click on the 11th positioned web page and 0.07% for the forty first positioned web page. Put another way, if the number one web page for a keyword receives 600 visitors, the 11th web page will receive 10 visitors and there will be just one click on the 41st. From an SEO point of view, a web page that cannot be positioned within the top ten positions for a keyword on the SERP will fail to bring much traffic.
Keyword Difficulty
Keyword difficulty is an assessment of the chance of positioning a web page within the top ten positions on a SERP for a keyword.
Competition
Traditionally competition has been evaluated mainly by the number of 'results' which is the number of competing web pages. The Keyword Effectiveness Index - KEI - is the most popular formula for identifying "effective" keywords. It incorporates keyword popularity data (P = number of searches) and the competition (C). The formula is P2/C.
Invariably a search will show at least hundreds of competing web pages (results) and often millions. Whilst the number of results will provide some indication of keyword difficulty, it is the strength of the top ten web pages compared to the potential strength of the page we can build on our website that will determine if our page can reach the top ten. The competitive strength of the top ten competing web pages for a keyword is not a direct function of the total number of competing web pages. The strength of the competition of the top 10 competing web pages for a keyword with only 10 thousand competitors will be far greater than 1,000th of the strength of the competition for a keyword with 10 million competitors.
From a search engine optimization perspective every web page should be optimized around one keyword.
From a web design point of view, we need to consider three types of web pages:
1. Pages that are required to cover the theme of the website but are based on keywords that are so competitive that they are unlikely to achieve top page positioning and therefore will not bring visitors to the website. For example, a holiday accommodation advertising website may produce an excellent page on "Italy". If it provides useful information, it will be appreciated by visitors who arrive on the website. High positioning on the SERPs for "Italy" is unlikely, however much effort you put into it, and this page will not bring visitors from the search engines.
2. Pages that are required to cover the theme of the website and are based on niche keywords and may bring visitors to the website - in practice there are unlikely to be many of these.
3. Pages that are not obviously required to cover the theme of the website but are developed around relevant niche keywords from a list of keywords initially generated by a keyword suggestion tool. The difficulty here is separating out the niche keywords from the full list. We need to focus our precious time and SEO efforts on the niche keywords where we can successfully compete.
How do we find the niche keywords from a list of keywords initially generated by a keyword suggestion tool?
In 2004, it was estimated that Google included 200 factors in its positioning algorithm. In 2009, many search optimization optimizers believe Google now uses more than 300 factors. It is unlikely that each of these factors carry equal weighting.
Using retro-analysis of top ten positioned web pages for numerous keyword searches, the author identified the most important, but underestimated, factor in the Google algorithm that determines positioning on SERPs (HomePage PageRank or G-Factor-I). It then became apparent that a second factor (G-Factor-II - a hidden boost to the effective PageRank of HomePages competing for a keyword) significantly influenced positioning.
Once aware of G-Factor-I, identification of niche keywords by manual analysis of a list of keywords generated by my favourite keyword suggestion tool proved to be prohibitively time consuming. For a list of 50 keywords, the G-Factor-I must be determined for each of the top 10 web pages - 500 calculations. A unique, purpose built program - Keyword SEO Pro - has been commissioned. No analysis is required for G-Factor-II.
The Most Important Question In Search Engine Optimization
The most frequently asked question that I am asked by web site owners is "How can I get my web pages to the top on the SERPs for my keywords?" My advice may surprise you: Take out the "How"!
You will then have the most important question web site owners and search engine optimizers should be asking:-
"Can I get my web pages to the top on the SERPs for my keywords?"
Using the combination of KeywordSEOPro to analyze for G-Factor-I for a list of keywords and by comparison with G-Factors-I and II for your own web pages, you will be able to identify your niche keywords and focus your SEO efforts appropriately. A more detailed explanation is provided on the website.

If you have been using Facebook chances are you have done some tagging before. Tagging is a way to let other users on your friends list to have access or to be aware about a status, post or picture that you just placed on Facebook. Perhaps, tagging is the engine that made Facebook the venerable social network it has become today. Yet the problem with Facebook tagging is that it may open a can of worms leading to potential security and privacy breach. People may be posting intimate personal information which is not for public's consumption. Now, is tagging really dangerous? Let's find out the answers.
It could be dangerous
Tagging is one of the ways to spread the word out in this social networking site. The purpose of tagging is to make targeted people in your friends list to be aware of what you have uploaded or posted on Facebook. While at the surface it does not give many problems about security and privacy but it may cause a lot of issues. We have no control of people seeing our friends' pages. We may not be in control if the accounts of the tagged friends have been hacked because they have been using a public computer and neglected to log out.
It could give stalkers cues
When you tag people there is a possibility that it can give away your position or whereabouts. This is very scary given the fact that it can let stalkers know where you at and continue stalking you. This innocent way of being tagged with some location information can be dangerous and may put you at harm's way. That is why it is best to keep your location information secret or at least do not give away the exact location. The best way to keep your privacy and safety is never to have tags that indicate where you can be reached.
It could give out sensitive information
Often there are pictures of children that have been tagged without much thought. Some parents would go in greater lengths to put some sensitive information about children on Facebook. These are the exact information that sexual predators can use to entice or lure your children. When a stranger is knowledgeable about the information about Aunt Helen and Uncle Bob they become no longer much of a stranger, they may feel like family and the false sense of security can be the trigger that may send your children into danger.
It could tell the world you are alone
Criminals can be techy, you know. If you have been visible in Facebook, criminals could just monitor your posts and the tags and use the information to tell them when to strike. This is very scary if you have been tagged with the information that you are at the most vulnerable position or you are alone in the house. This sends an idea bulb to criminals to strike while the iron is hot. If you will not feel too much anxiety and stress about this situation, nothing will.
It could swamp your inbox
If you get tagged in girls' night out it may mean that you are not in a relationship. This will prompt stalkers to resume their stalking. This can be dangerous especially if the stalker is deranged.
Facebook is a great way to connect with friends. But it can be a dangerous place like any other real place on earth. Always monitor the tags and see if it does give away your position and could pose danger to your person.
Are social networking sites giving you a lot of anxiety? Don't fret. There are many ways to easily kick away anxiety, just visit MeraSEO site for more helpful information.

You've just launched your new website (or launched the redesign) and now you're sitting back waiting for the orders to roll in. But wait a minute, something's wrong... there don't seem to be any. It's as if your site doesn't exist.
Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but unless you have either a well publicised site or many websites linking to yours, you're going to have to rely on the search engines. And if your site doesn't rank in the first three result pages, it's more than likely you won't be found at all.
So... you know what's coming next; that's right, you need a good dose of search engine marketing (SEM) to make sure your site gets listed on the search engines' results pages. Do this and the traffic to your website will soon follow.
"Right", I hear you say. "Let's do some search engine marketing then..."
Well that's certainly a good start! But first you have to work out your approach to maximise your returns. Let's call this your search engine marketing strategy. In order to create an effective strategy you need to understand a bit more about how search engine marketing works. Currently, we can roughly-speaking separate search engine marketing into two different approaches:
Organic: including search engine optimisation, links from other websites and offline marketing.
Paid: including pay per click, paid submission and online advertising (banner ads).
So to help you further, I've listed below the advantages and disadvantages to each approach to SEM and outlined my recommendations.
Organic: Advantages
The majority of the work behind search engine optimisation (SEO) is a one-off activity, and so is usually charged out at a set upfront fee.
The changes made to your website will probably still be relevant and driving traffic to your site a year from now.
Credibility: most people (research indicates between 60 and 80 percent) will click on the organic results rather than the sponsored (paid) results.
If you rank well in one of the major search engines (Google/Yahoo/MSN), you will most likely show up in the majority of the search engines worldwide.Organic: Disadvantages
Changes must be made to your website's code. Normally the changes are invisible to visitors. However, if you have invested heavily in a search engine-unfriendly site, the process can be time-consuming and costly; and occasionally significant changes may need to be made to your site's copy, navigation or design. Of course ultimately, you'll see returns if you commit to the necessary changes.
Results (rankings and traffic) start slowly. You will normally see results within 3-4 months.
There can be no guarantee. As the search engines themselves have the final say, you can't predict how many rankings you'll get for a particular search term or engine; nor can you predict how much traffic you'll get to your site.Paid: Advantages
Pay per click (PPC) advertising programs are fast to implement. It usually takes two to three weeks to set up and run. Google AdWords are up-and-running as soon as you start the campaign, and Overture listings are live within 3-5 business days (after an editor reviews them).
Nothing has to change on your web site, although I would recommend you create targeted landing pages for each advertisement as they've been proven to increase conversions (but that's another subject for another time!).
There is no limit to the number of terms or keyword phases you can bid on.
PPC is good if you intend to run promotions through your site, as you can turn the PPC campaign on and off whenever you choose.
You can dictate where the listing appears on the result's page (within the sponsors' ads area) and determine what the ad says.
It's very easy to test all your different search terms and offers etc, and to measure the results.Paid: Disadvantages
Clicks can be expensive. Bidding wars often erupt.
You must keep paying for the clicks every month. If your budget is ever cut, your listings will disappear, along with your search engine traffic.
Most people (research indicates between 60 and 80 percent) will click on the organic results rather than the sponsored (paid) results.
It requires a time investment to monitor and adjust listings on a constant basis, or budget to outsource this activity.
Listings are subject to editorial acceptance. With SEO, you can state whatever you like on your website (which is where the search engines pull your page title and description). But with PPC, editors insist that all listings be factual and that you not compare your company with others. This means that even if you are the "largest" provider, you can't state that.
Now you know a bit about the advantages and disadvantages of both organic and paid search engine marketing, you must decide how to approach your online marketing campaign.
Organic marketing is probably best if:
You want to spend some time on search engine marketing upfront and have it pay off in the future, on conceivably every search engine there is around the world.
You have a budget to do some work now, and want to save money later on.
Your site is fairly simple, without a lot of complicated bells and whistles.
You can afford to wait a month or two for results.
You don't want to have to manage or maintain anything on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.Paid advertising may be for you if:
You want to get up-and-running quickly.
You have a promotion where you want to be able to turn a PPC campaign on and off.
You want to be able to test search terms, products or offers and quickly see results.
Your site is search engine-unfriendly and you don't want to invest in changing it.
You're confident you'll have the budget to spend for the long haul, and you have time to maintain positions on a regular basis.
Of course many companies and businesses tackle both organic and paid SEM at the same time, and this is what I would typically recommend to maximally attract qualified traffic to a website.
If you are currently designing your site, or redesigning an existing one, make sure your developer knows how to create search engine optimised code or is working closely with a SEO consultant. Getting it right from the beginning will save you time and money in the long run. And it needn't cost a fortune either if you tackle this upfront
If you have an existing site you wish to optimise, you may have a hard decision to make if your current site is not search engine friendly. If your site has been built using extensive use of frames or dynamic pages (your URL may look like: http://www.yoursite.com/page.asp?id=8), the cost to rectify these problems can be discouraging. If this is the case, now may be the time to seriously consider redesigning your site earlier than you'd planned.
Either way, the use of a small paid (pay per click) advertising campaign before optimisation can be a great way to nail down those essential keywords to use throughout your site's copy by recording which keywords customers respond to the most in your campaign.

SEO ("Search Engine Optimization") is where you take a website and do the things that Google & the other search engines love to see & reward with top ranks. Knowing what makes a site rank well and knowing all the tricks to getting it ranked to the top are what professional SEO experts have taken many years to learn, but this simple tutorial should give you a great idea of what to do and how to automate the process.
The first thing you need to know about SEO is that it's almost all focused around links to your site. Many people focus on making their site look pretty or with lots of keywords... but the fact is that if you want to stand any chance of getting a top rank, you need to get links to your site - and lots of them.
The number one factor is search engine ranks is the number and quality of links that a site has. The links to a site are seen as a "vote" of authority and respect... which the search engines reward with a boost in rankings. The more links you get and the higher quality links you get will make the search engines think that your site is getting a lot of attention and deserves to be seen by more people.
Getting links is the best way to boost your site's ranks. However in order to get a top rank, you need quality links. This is where SEO professionals come into their own - because many of these people have a long list of contacts and resources where they can get a lot of high quality links. One-way links from websites that have a high readership and a high "PageRank" are the best types of links you can get. An example of these links include a mention in a news report or a link from a blog post.
In order to get your site ranked to the top of the search engines, you should focus on getting as many top quality links as possible. However, this can be costly and time consuming. Which is why you may wish to look at "link building systems" to give you a more efficient solution. There are several services where you can sign up for a small monthly fee and have many high quality links built to your site on autopilot. If you wanted to get a high ranking, you might want to think about one of these services as they can save time and money in the long run.

Most Search Engine Optimizers already know that Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) has great advantages on Optimizing web pages for the search engines but some may not be aware that most CSS Templates also helps the web masters in saving a lot of valuable time when designing a site.
Some of the more popular free CSS template providers like oswd.org and csstemplates.net constantly uploads professional templates for the worldwide webmasteres. These templates come with standard and validate codes which not only helps in optimizing the site but also conforms to World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) guidelines.
One of the most significant advantages of using CSS templates to start off a website is that it increases the overall Text-to-Codes ratio. Some experienced Search Engine Optimizers believe that search engines favors the indexing of pages that have a high amount of content rather than codes. In addition, a page with high amount of HTML or Javascript codes is likely to create errors than a page with less codes. Therefore, CSS template helps greatly in this codes reduction to increase search engine optimization results.
Another factor worth considering is the amount of time needed by the search engine bots to index a page. With the implementation of CSS, especially with the external style sheets, the file size will be much smaller than normal pages that use conventional tables design. It is to our advantages if search engine can index our pages in a shorter time. This not only saves us valuable bandwidth but also reduces the chance of encountering errors during indexing since now the file is smaller and more compact.
In conclusion, using CSS templates to start off a website helps greatly in reducing the effort needed to optimize a website.
KC is a SEO consultant with several years of related experiences. His advice has helped several Webmasters to increase their SERP. KC is also the founder of CSS Templates, a site that offers free SEO techniques.

Anyone who has trolled the various search engine optimization (SEO) forums on the web will know that Google Page Rank (PR) is often a topic of discussion. There are a lot of misconceptions floating around out there regarding PR. The following should clear up some of them.
What is Page Rank?
Page Rank is Google's patented method of measuring link popularity for a given URL. By link popularity most people mean the number of times a URL is cited or linked to by other URLs on the web. But in Google's case, link popularity measures not only the quantity of inbound links but also the quality of inbound links. A citation or link from page A to page B is seen by Google as a "vote" cast by page A in favor of page B.
A lot of the confusion around the topic of Page Rank stems from the fact that there are two kinds of PR that Google associates with URLs. One is the "actual" PR for the URL, and the other is the Google toolbar PR for the URL. These two types of Google Page Rank are very different.
Actual Page Rank
The "actual" Page Rank of a URL is one of the 200+ ranking factors used by Google to rank a URL in the SERPs. It is this "actual" PR that has existed since the beginning of Google and that is important to search engine optimization. The formula for "actual" PR was first discussed in section 2.1 of The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine - a paper written by Sergey Brin and Larry Page while at Stanford which became the blueprint for what we now know as Google.
Every new URL starts out with a minuscule amount of Page Rank. As other pages link to that URL, it is passed some amount of PR from the page that links to it. How much PR is passed basically depends on the amount of PR the page linking to it has accumulated and how many outbound links exist on that page. As more and more pages link to the URL, it accumulates more and more PR.
The "actual" Page Rank values of URLs on the web are very fluid. They are constantly being updated as Google's spiders crawl the web discovering new pages, finding that old pages no longer exist or have been moved, discovering new links on existing pages, finding that old links have been removed from existing pages, etc.
It should be noted that you have absolutely no way to know the "actual" PR of a URL. This version of Google Page Rank is never displayed anywhere on the web. Only Google knows its value.
Google Toolbar PR
If you install Google's toolbar in your browser, you can enable their Page Rank tool. It displays a small horizontal histogram at the top of your browser (a little green bar) to provide you an approximation of the PR of the page being viewed. This toolbar PR that is displayed is a logarithmic scaling from 0 to 10 of the "actual" PR for a URL as it was at some point weeks or months prior. By logarithmic I mean that it is exponentially harder for a URL to go from one toolbar PR rating (for example, PR3) to the next higher PR rating (PR4).
Once every few months, Google will essentially take a snapshot of all of the known URLs in their index along with their corresponding "actual" PR values. Then they run a logarithmic scaling algorithm against the actual PR to scale them to values ranging from 0 to 10. They publish these "scaled" Page Ranks as what people commonly refer to as a PR update. It is this published "scaled" PR that is accessed and displayed by the Google toolbar application when you browse a page.
Unlike the "actual" PR, the Google toolbar PR is not used at all by the ranking algorithm at Google. Only the "actual" Page Rank is used by their ranking algorithm. Unlike the "actual" PR which is constantly updated, the toolbar PR is updated once every few months which means it is always out of date and not dependable.
It should be noted that a PR0 (0/10) does not mean that a URL has no "actual" Page Rank. All URLs in Google's index start out with some minuscule amount of PR. It simply means that the URL has not accumulated enough Page Rank to be considered a PR1 (1/10) page.
If a page gets created after Google published their last toolbar PR update, when viewing that page the toolbar will be grayed out and the hover text will be displayed as "Current page is not ranked by Google". The reason for this is that when the toolbar queries the index to retrieve the toolbar Page Rank of the URL, its toolbar PR is null because the URL did not exist when the last toolbar PR update was published. This does not, however, mean that the URL does not have an "actual" PR. Remember, each URL in Google's index has an actual PR.
How is Page Rank Useful for SEO?
Now that you know the difference between "actual" PR and toolbar PR, you might ask, "What now?" Hopefully, you now understand that the toolbar PR, though visible, is pretty much worthless other than being used to give an approximation of a URL's "actual" Page Rank.
A URL's actual PR is a minor ranking factor in the overall Google algorithm when determining how that URL ranks for a particular keyword phrase. However, getting inbound links from higher PR URLs can help to add an extra boost to your rankings, especially if the anchor or link text matches the search phrase and the page where the link resides is relevant to the search phrase.
