Things That Are Stopping You from Losing That Pregnancy Weight

Вторник, 10 Мая 2022 г. 13:32 + в цитатник

Celebrities seem to lose their pregnancy weight in no time. However, for others losing pregnancy weight seems a huge challenge. In addition, doctors suggest that it is better to lose postpartum weight gradually. Here are some reasons why losing weight after delivery is difficult:

Your Body is Healing

After delivery, your body takes time to heal. Your body was overworked during pregnancy and therefore, after delivery, the body takes time to recalibrate. The body requires some time to settle the hormone fluctuations. Unless the hormones settle down it is difficult to lose the excess weight. The body needs fat to stockpile certain fat-soluble vitamins that are essential for the body to heal. Losing weight too fast can also decrease your milk supply and interfere with breastfeeding. The body deliberately doesn’t want to lose the excess weight. Therefore, give your body some time to lose weight. Have patience.

Stress Eating

Pregnancy and childbirth are stressful. Many moms suffer from postpartum depression. Stress and depression can lead to stress eating. New moms are often so busy with the infant that they do not get time to cook or eat a proper healthy meal and end up stuffing themselves with junk food. This can hamper weight loss.

Lack of Sleep

Lack of sleep increases the cortisol level in the body. Increased cortisol slows down the rate of metabolism. Low metabolism will not allow the body to burn enough calories and, thus, losing weight will become difficult. Most new parents are sleep deprived and that is a major reason why losing weight becomes so difficult.

Lack of Exercise

Having a dedicated exercise routine with a newborn is extremely challenging. Moreover, it takes some time for the new mother to gain enough strength and stamina to start exercising.

Dehydration

Most women don’t drink enough water. Especially with a newborn, the mother often forgets to drink water. Dehydration can cause hunger pangs and make you eat more. Post-delivery your body needs a minimum of two liters of water daily. Do not wait to feel thirsty, keep gulping water at regular intervals.

Unable to Breastfeed

Due to various reasons, some mothers are unable to breastfeed. Moms who breastfeed lose weight faster than those who don’t breastfeed. The body burns 500 calories during breastfeeding. If you do not have medical complications then try to breastfeed as many times as possible to lose weight.
