Living in a share house or group accommodation specifically for autistic adults or adults with different disabilities. Occupations include activities in which we engage in a daily basis such as showering, dressing, toileting, cooking, cleaning, gardening. They also include activities we complete outside the home including shopping, banking, attending social groups and your profession.

The court will continue to be able to make orders about parental responsibility for a child in cases where parents were married or in a de facto relationship. We are able to assess children and adults for a variety of psychological conditions that may then open the door for further understanding and support for the individual. As our assessments are undertaken/signed off by Clinical Psychologists, these assessments are then recognised by governing bodies . Our focus is to help children and adults alike obtain the psychological support via assessments with a clinical, registered or provisional psychologist. Every child and family is different, so there are no standard arrangements about how much time they should spend with each parent after separation. Arrangements should be realistic, practical and be focused on the best interests of the child. From 6 May 2024, in cases where parents were married, this legal presumption will no longer apply.

If you’re an autistic adult, or you have an older child or partner that is autistic, you’re not alone – there are hundreds of thousands of autistic adults across Australia. Parents have parental responsibility for their child until they are 18 years old unless the court makes an order removing it. Parents still have parental responsibility after they separate and if they re-marry.
