If there is a word or phrase which your child is not certain about, be sure to check out the dictionary so that he/she can use them accurately. Add on vocabulary that is relevant to each topic or even start a new topic. This is to ensure fairness as the topics selected are not foreign to any child. Having said this, it means that nothing is considered too obvious or common to be tested.
From our experience, it’s a low-hanging fruit, but only if students know how to reach for it. The practice exam paper contains two contrasting pictures and description prompts/discussion questions. • Get a free detailed report on your spoken English proficiency including pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary and english oral practice grammar. Securing full marks in the oral component means your child can effectively capture 15% of the total English paper, providing a significant advantage. Students generally find the first type of question easier to answer as they can discuss their observations from the video clip that they have watched.

The PSLE English Oral exam's reading aloud segment expects students to read a passage to the examiner. The essential parts of this section are intonation, pronunciation, pacing, and enunciation. Regular discussions on various topics, storytelling, and simulated oral exams at home can boost confidence and fluency. Record sessions to playback and critique pronunciation and expressiveness. For the stimulus-based conversation component, you can help your child by asking him/her questions about topics that s/he has experiences about, and knowledge of.
The student's ability to orally express their ideas, opinions, and feelings and fluently converse with the examiner in good English is the main criteria to ace this exam. Put the game on mute and make the play-by-play yourself in English. This gives you a running commentary, similar to if you were narrating yourself as you go about your day. Translating is a much more advanced skill, because you have to be able to listen and speak at the same time, but it will definitely improve your speaking skills. In the planned response component of the oral examination, students will be given a video to view with an accompanying question on that same video.

These activities also help expand your vocabulary and improve your ability to think and respond quickly in English. Look for language exchange partners, join English-speaking clubs or workshops, or create your own role-playing scenarios with friends or classmates. Shadowing is a technique that involves listening to an English audio or video recording and simultaneously repeating what you hear.
