He fought in WWI—he never lost at all
The government in Istanbul got him all pissed
This guy was one bad ass Turkish nationalist
Kemal became leader -- he made the National Pact
With the goal to just keep their borders intact
The day he entered office—he went straight to work
And had his name changed to Atatürk
He introduced reform all over the land
He loved his nation—he dare not expand
Atatürk led well—Turkey was now a winner
And we mean the nation, not the Thanksgiving dinner
After his death, in came his number two

The man was a genius; just thought you should know
He declared war on Germany, with just months to go
He kept up with Kemalism—his power grew
But the guy was more stubborn than the Breakfast Crew
He took no crap---though his people felt daunted
At least they got to eat, whenever they wanted

In 1945—Turkey felt rather eerie
As the US started worrying about the domino theory
The Soviets were close—and the US had doubt
So they sent Turkey aid, just to keep Commies out
Next in line to rule was the Democrat Party
Agriculture improved, they were good and hearty
But once the people said there was no progress
The Democrats went crazy and they shut down the press
The people couldnt be heard—it was the last straw
The troops stepped in and had a coup detat
The military handed back all of the power
People asked themselves Now where is Jack Bauer?
A new party led—they thought they struck luck
But as it turns out the Justice Party sucked
The military stepped in, and they bid them adieu
As in just ten years they had coup #2
After the war, they faced urbanization
But there were no jobs, so the Turks left the nation
Many parties formed—hurting Parliaments bids
Turkey had more parties than Angelina has kids
The Republicans took over—this time with a team
It was the NSP—some call them extreme
The two agreed on nothing—the government bled
Destined for divorce, just like Brit and K-Fed
Now theres one last thing that we want to mention
Its the ongoing debate - called the Cyprus question
