Tried to "encourage" Zhenya to shoot like this, but "with poor luck" :)
...She seem to dislike diagonal compositions...

I've tried too, explaining in a long e-mail how to try to improve her pics...
She just answered me by this short sentence: "Nath, just look at them (my pics"...hihi..
And after she wrote a message to her friends explaining that if her pics were how I've described them, she should have a place in the big Modern Arts Museum near Picasso...:)
But I have Hope in her..;
I mean I think she has a Good Eye...I think I understand very well what she wants to transmit through her pics...she just need one thing: to become a grown up person..what it's mean that the Universe doesn't turn just around her....that she is a simple person among others...this day, she will be able to put away her pride and to get a more objectif sight on her and on her work..
But I told you..;I have Hope...it's just a question of Time.

Me too..because you can have several "relations" with Photography..some prefer to "copy and paste" what they see ( and I respect this point of view), others, like me, prefer to try to transmit the "Emotion" that they got in seeing something...
In a such case, diagonals are very useful..because our eye is following some rules, by the culture we have got from books, movies, comic strips, paints...

If you want to transmit future, others and Hope, you try to reach the right and the up of the pic (for example eyes would look in this direction)...if you want to transmit thoughts about the past, thoughts about what is inside yourself, nostalgy..you will try to attract the attention towards the down part of the pic or towards the left...

That why, when I take a pic, if I'm attracted by a special light or a special subject, my eye will check immediately the borders of the frame of my vision to search for diagonals and then to try to organize them to try to transmit the emotion I've got when I was making the pic ...

I don't think Zhenya is just a "copy and past" person..I'm pretty sure that she has a lot of Emotion inside herself that she wants to transmit..that why I'm pretty sure that this use of diagonals would be a great thing for her....
If not , she will just get "flat" images which won't be able to transmit all what she means
