Electric Guitar Instrumental Version |
The blues is a form of music that can be vocal, instrumental (blues guitar) or both. Opener 'Hello' screamed with an array of loud guitars (in 1995, 'Glory' was regarded as one of the loudest albums ever recorded, thanks in part to producer Owen Morris's technical ingenuity, his compression box bringing the loud dynamics of a concert closer to the homes of every listener), while 'Roll With It' took the status away from Status Quo for singalong-cum rock.
Guitarist John McLaughlin is joined by drummer Billy Cobham and keyboardist Jan Hammer for a mind-blowing jazz-rock fusion blast-off on 1971's The Inner Mounting Flame, unleashing prog touchstone You Know, You Know,” which was later sampled by Massive Attack, Mos Def, and countless others.
Pretty much everything a Beatle said or did was influential, and Harrison's ‘Ricky' sound was soon adopted by Roger McGuinn of US folk-rock band The Byrds, who in turn inspired people such as Tom Petty , Johnny Marr of The Smiths and Peter Buck of R.E.M.
The lead track from the legendary jazz trumpeter's classic album, A Tribute to Jack Johnson, sounds like a one-off garage rock jam at first, as guitarist John McLaughlin, bassist Michael Henderson, and drummer Billy Cobham fart around while the tape rolls.

One of the biggest challenges I've had in learning how to play guitar actually has nothing to do with learning to play guitar - it's the fact that playing alone really isn't any fun. Charlie Crespo of the Manahatten Beat described the Tsunamibots as playing mostly instrumental surf-punk that brilliantly marries the Ventures to the Ramones.
Beck's next band, Beck, Bogert, and Appice, emphasized the heavy metal side of Jeff's playing. Once I've nailed it, I switch back to removing the lead guitar from the instrumentals and then I can fill in for B.B. King with the whole band backing me up. Another home (or hotel room) recording, this time on electric guitar.
Let's learn it now and continue getting our fingers more and more comfortable playing lead on acoustic. But this one fills the soul with wonder and delight when I hear all 33:41 of it. The guitar interplay between Duane Allman and Dickey Betts is wondrous, as are their individual solos, and the whole band performs with interwoven mastery.
