Zechariah's Message

Четверг, 18 Июля 2019 г. 23:31 + в цитатник

One spring evening in 520 B.C. The Prophet Zechariah received a series of eight visions all in one night. In the book of Zechariah God's promised deliverance from Babylonian exile, including a restored kingdom community and a functioning temple (the earthly Zechariah Vision throne of the divine King; see Introduction to Psalms: Theology), leads into even grander pictures of the salvation and restoration to come through the Messiah (see notes on 3:8-9 ; 4:3,14 ; 6:9-15 ; 9:9-10 ; 10:2,4 ; 11:4-14 ; 12:10—13:1 ; 13:7 ; 14:4-9 ).
Then there is Ezekiel who also mentions a holy mountain (20:40 And in 40:2 he himself is taken to a very high mountain, to see the structure of a city and a special "house" inside of it. In 43 he sees the eastern gate, the inner court, the place of God's Throne "where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever." Now Revelation 21:3, speaking of the new heavens and the new earth, likewise talks of the "tabernacle" or dwelling-place, of God being with man.

The prophet is confident that this mountainous project can be completed with God's help and so, addressing the mountain of obstacles, asks rhetorically, Who are you, great mountain?” (v. 7). Mountain as metaphor for insuperable opposition or resistance is common in the OT, especially when it is overcome and reduced to a valley or plain (Isa.
The issues Rabbi Cahn speaks regarding immorality and a pandemic godlessness of the earth” that are on full display as our leaders are unfit for command and our corrupt government unfit for leadership are addressed in a new book by Jeff Kinley: "As It Was in the Days of Noah: Warnings from Bible Prophecy About the Coming Global Storm" which is a commentary on Yeshua's prophecy that a storm of global judgment is headed our way just as it was in the days of Noah.

And so consequently if it is true that when I believe in the Lord Jesus according to the gospel I become a Christian, I am born again, I have everlasting life, I am set on a new path to glorify God, I can believe the promises regarding the future of the nation and the future of the city of Jerusalem.
Therefore, the temple to be built by Joshua in this passage is prophetic and relates to a future Temple of Messiah, as confirmed by this description: "It is He who will build the Temple of the Lord, and He will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on His throne.
You also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5) If then these pretenders to priesthood are priests in any special sense, they certainly are not descendants of the Apostles, for the Apostles claimed no priority of priesthood beyond the rest of their brethren, but said of all the saints, You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood.” The fact is they are neither one nor the other—they are not descendants of the Apostles, for they do not preach the Apostles' gospel, and do not know their spirit; nor have they any priestly office, unless it is that the old Babylonian prostitute accepts them as her foster children, and gives them a name and a place among those who partake in her abominations.

For that reason we argue for the following rendering of verse v. 8: YHWH of hosts has said the following, that after glory He has sent me to the nations plundering you, for he who touches you touches the opening of His eye.” It is Zechariah who has been sent, clearly only in the sense of his being a herald from Jerusalem.
After clean garments were given to Joshua, "they set a fair miter upon his head." A miter, or bishop's official hat, represents the intelligence and wisdom of the church, from knowledge and love of the spiritual truth taught by the Lord, in His holy Word.
Gracious God, I bless you that I do not have to present my sacrifice directly to yourself, or else you would consume my sacrifice and me with the flames of your wrath; but I present what I have before your messenger, the angel of the covenant, the Lord Jesus, and through him my prayers find acceptance wrapped up in his prayers; my praises become sweet as they are bound up with bundles of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, from Christ's own garden; then I myself, standing in him, am accepted in the Beloved; and all my poor, defiled, polluted works, though in themselves only objects of divine abhorrence, are so accepted and received, that God smells a sweet savour.
