Ever since J.M. Barrie's story first appeared in 1904, countless versions have been produced on stage and in film. The songs were written by none other than Leonard Bernstein , whose only other Broadway score credit at that time was 1944's On the Town The five songs he presented in Peter Pan — "Who Am I?," "Pirate's Song," "Plank Round," "Build My House" and "Peter Peter" — were recorded as part of an original cast recording that also included a great deal of the play's dialogue.
It returned to Broadway the following holiday season, this time playing the Gershwin Theatre (current home to Wicked ). The resulting tour of this production was eventually filmed on stage for non-live broadcast on the A&E television network, a broadcast that is still available on DVD today.





The Play That Goes Wrong, full of onstage and backstage high jinx, has been the surprise West End hit of recent years and now the Wrong-uns of Peter Pan Show the (deliberately) hapless Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society bring their blend of madcap mayhem and highly tuned physical comedy to Neverland.
Cathlena Martin and Laurie Taylor note that Just as Barrie's Peter Pan existed as a story within a play, so does the story of Peter Pan exist within a larger play of stories in Kingdom Hearts.” Kingdom Hearts blends Disney characters and worlds from a multitude of movies alongside characters from the Final Fantasy games to create an overall adventure with smaller stories interlinked.
The character of Peter was voiced by 15-year-old film actor Bobby Driscoll (one of the first male actors to play the role), and Disney's animators gave audiences the first physical representation of the brave and vengeful fairy, Tinker Bell, who had appeared previously on stage as a light or a sound effect.

Released in 2004 starring Jonny Depp as J.M. Barrie and directed by Marc Forster, the film takes liberties with factual history, such as conveniently writing Silvia's husband, Arthur, as having passed away before Barrie meets the family, thus avoiding the tension between Barrie and Arthur Llewelyn Davies.
Some differences that change from performance to performance are a fight between ten to twenty mothers over who will adopt the lost boys at the end of the play, Wendy as an adult, and Hook's surviving the crocodile after his duel with Peter (but later climbing down a tree in Kensington Gardens right into the crocodile's jaws).
Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. When the Civic Light Opera proposed a new musical version of Peter Pan, they weren't kidding—the show had yet to be written.

It starred Gerald du Maurier as Captain Hook (doubling up as Mr Darling) and Mr Darling, and Nina Boucicault as Peter. Peter Pan opens on Saturday the 7th of July and runs until Sunday the 15th at the Playhouse Theatre in Albany Street. To balance out Peter's manliness in the film, Tinkerbell was a sensual woman with a curvaceous body; an independent, single woman that was at odds with Wendy's motherly habits.
