Photographic Memory; Good Memory; Myth Vs Reality

Среда, 01 Апреля 2020 г. 10:30 + в цитатник

Does photographic memory actually exist or do individuals only have good memory? That question has been around for years. Some people believe they do have that super memory, but most experts say photographic memory does not exist. To exist, a person would have the ability to recall everything from a lifetime. Photographic memory is defined as ability to remember things exactly: the ability to recall information, especially visual images, with great accuracy and clarity. It is like having a camera and recording instrument in use all the time. This site also states that children usually lose that ability, as they grow older. Slate magazine. William Lee Adams in "Psychology Today" states that "mounting evidence indicates that it is impossible to recall images with near perfect accuracy." The article also indicates that if humans remembered every image, it would be difficult for them to make it through the day. Andrea Goldstein of Bryn Mawr College explains the relationship of the brain to memory. She states that memory is stored briefly in sensory memory as an image. It only progresses further into long-term memory with development.

She believes that some people may have specific wiring in their brains to enable further development. This is only a theory. It may also be that the children born with photographic memory do not entirely lose it if developed further by parents, environment, or schooling.. Case study 1. Mr. B is a college graduate, beginning medical school. He has received A grades throughout his entire life. In the younger grades, he never had to study, as he remembered everything he heard in class or read in books. When he reached college, and had to read and remember multitudes of knowledge, he read over notes and books. Then he remembered it in his brain for the test by visualizing his notes or page in textbook. He remembers information about sports from hearing and watching television. He quickly figures out mechanical tasks such as a complex DVR. This young student claims to rid his brain of bad memories or images by only remembering events that he can control.

He conversed easily with adults at age 2, and memories of these events remain vivid. His mother read and sang to him before birth and spent hours working on his development after his birth. She actually took on the role of teacher until he started school. https://essayfreelancewriters.com/blog/write-an-autobiographical-essay/ appears to have a photographic memory, not just a good memory. Note: This young man went to medical school where he could never have remembered all the information from his classes. He did, however, receive all As and scored in the top 10 percent on his board exams. In December 2010, Lesley Stahl from Sixty Minutes interviewed several people who possess superior autobiographical memory, one of whom was Marilu Henner, the actress. She remembers the incidents of every day since age 11. She reads her lines and possesses total recall. An MRI of her brain shows she has a larger temporal lobe and caudate nucleus, a region deep in the brain, also found in patients with obsessive compulsive disorder.

She appears to have photographic memory, but physicians call it Hyperthymesia. Others who have a brain disorder may have a type of photographic memory as seen in Kim Peek pictured in video. An athletic wizard also has almost an eidetic memory - LeBron James of the Miami and Cleveland NBA basketball teams.. He remembers plays from many weeks, months, and even years ago. Once he even commented on a coach and his attire in a game, compared to many years ago. When anyone mentions an old game, he immediately remembers teams. By remembering plays, he can compete well against other teams. His memory is similar to Marilu Henner and Rain Man. He also comments it can be a curse, as he remembers the bad with the good. LeBron James also plays video games and remembers what opponents' plays have been in current and previous games. If anyone bets against him, that person probably does not have a chance. Many folks have no awareness of the skills of some of these super intelligent people.

This star has a high school education and went directly to the NBA, so you can see that his brain is loaded with the neurons for high intelligence. Individuals with disabilities of the brain sometimes develop something similar to photographic memory, because the malfunction allows parts of the brain to be different, allowing recall of an enormous amount of memory. Individuals with autism are very good at recall, especially with numbers. A young man with savant autism took a helicopter tour and drew a panoramic view of exactly what he saw with very few errors. Autism, according to the American Psychiatric Association is a deficiency in language development, social skills, and behavioral repetition Savant autism refers to an autistic person with great skill in certain areas, resembling a photographic memory. An important example of savant autism appears in a movie. Remember the movie Rain Man. This movie was loosely woven around the autistic savant Kim Peek who appeared to have a photographic memory.

The BOS is also easy to put together, provides specific feedback to rate the employee, and provides a positive forum for evaluation process. Raters need to be aware there is a tendency to make trait-based judgments with this format. The BOS format is simple to use and understand, is strongly associated with tasks performed, and includes parallel stimulus/response, (S-R) tracking measures. The expected result is that the scores on the stimulus scale will be the same as on the response scale, and will produce the behavior desired by the Arrow executive team. There are several factors Arrow should keep in mind when developing the content of the performance appraisal form that could impose different biases upon the rating process. Properly developing a rater and ratee training program is essential to the PA system as well. The training will provide the raters with the understanding of how to avoid or respond to bias situations, while provide the ratees with information and expectations of what they will experience throughout the process.

The raters and ratees should also be trained to understand the observations made and how to keep a diary of daily activities. The program should also incorporate frame of reference training to avoid making inferences or assumptive statements about the behavior of the ratee. When inferences versus behaviors are indicated in the PA, the ratee can become defensive, negating the desired effects of the PA system. Defining the raters and the ratees and determining if the ratees’ performance assessments will be based on individual or team performance should be determined as part of the development of the rater program. An important determination in defining the raters is deciding who is in the best position to observe the ratee and provide feedback about the ratee’s performance. Arrow should incorporate multiple sources of feedback, such as 360degree feedback, with observation appraisals from a variety of people (at least 3) who interact with the employee on a regular basis.

The raters should only rate the performance criteria that are actually observed in their interactions with the ratee. This feedback can come from the ratee’s supervisors, peers, subordinates, clients and self-assessment. For 360degree feedback to be successful the organization must be prepared, therefore management buy-in is key as resources and time are critical to the process. A useful tool for the rater to use in the interview process is an appraisal checklist (see appendix A). The appraisal checklist is essential in making sure that the rater follows guidelines and covers all items to be addressed in the interview. The performance appraisal should be implemented so that it occurs at least every six months, and if possible, on a quarterly basis with a strong emphasis on two-way communication. In actuality, PA management is a continual exercise. When there are no surprises to either party, supervisors can cultivate desired behaviors on a daily basis. look at this site for more info is key in recognizing the success and validity of the system, as well as providing a method to incorporate suggestions received in a feedback retrieval process.

BEHS National Honor Society: November 2020

The National Honor Society offers scholarships to select individuals. An enormous amount of money is available. Five students will be chosen from our school to go on to consideration at the state level (those five are eligible, but that doesn't mean they'll win at the state). You must be a senior. You must be a member of Box Elder's chapter of the NHS in good standing (meaning your dues are paid, you participate in service with us, and you attend meetings regularly). To apply, bring an essay of less than 750 words to Mr. Crawford. Your plans for the future - including, but not limited to, where you plan on attending school, your intended major, and why you chose those things. Any other information you believe the scholarship committee should know. Application essays are due to Mr. Crawford on or before Friday, December 5, 2014. Essays that are late for any reason will not be considered. Content has been created with the help of https://essayfreelancewriters.com!

Yet will place examples of national junior honor society essays on the Jewish holocausts than we do with the African holocausts. True, the South "was no Auschwitz" but the African American people were tortured and murdered just as the Jews. The biggest difference was that this happened in our own country. Yet, people feel the need to deny the African American people the right to tell their story. They should not be allowed to pass what monuments they want built and ones they want over looked. The history of the African American culture is an event in our history that still shows it effects in today's society. The events significant impact on shaping American history is something that can not be overlooked and must be represented through a national memorial. Due to the innumerable private organizations that will sponsor this campaign, funding will not be a problem for the African American museum building process to get under way. The funding process and importance of a national monument can be clearly seen through the Holocaust museum. If the National African American Museum is anything like that of the Holocaust Museum, I don't see any regrets or concerns in the near future. It is a great idea and is something that America should be proud to endorse as a memorial. He was very sad when he said that, if U.S. Constitution and a Bill of Rights, declaring freedom of religion, Muslim clerics in the U.S. Muslims, in much the same way that the Taliban imposed sharia law on the people of Afghanistan. He told me that his own father had threatened to kill him for converting to Christianity, and that his father, a leader at a Mosque in San Diego, California, had been a naturalized U.S. 32 years. Amazing, and tragic, isn't it? So can you trust the random adult Muslim next door to treat you, a Christian, with the same tolerance and love that you treat him? With what is happening in the world today in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, other Middle-Eastern countries, and the United States, the Christian community should reasonably treat the Muslims around them with the same suspicion that the First Century Christians had for the Romans. The Romans of the 1st and 2nd Centuries wanted to decimate Christianity and Judaism, and currently all devout Muslims around the world are either openly, or silently, advocating that the same thing happens in the 21st Century. Millions of seemingly peaceful and loving Muslims regularly go to their Mosques, located in many U.S. Islamic god and to earnestly pray that all infidels will eventually be forced to submit to Islam. In their scheduled meetings, these Muslims plan ways to make this happen, either violently or by subtle political subterfuge. It is wise to remember that all devout Muslims who render the Koran as the divine word of their god, Allah, have been commanded by their prophet, Mohammed, to lie, cheat, and deceive the infidel, by behaving in ways that Allah has forbidden them to do with other Muslims, such as drinking alcohol, eating pork and other foods they regard as unclean, cheating, and lying. For Islam is hardly an ideal religion. It is thoroughly pragmatic, where the end result, the infidels' submission to Allah, justifies any, and all, means used to make that end result occur. This makes negotiating Islam an extremely tricky affair. To understand more thoroughly the pragmatism of Islam, and the criminal conspiracy that is underway in the United States to Islamize America, which has deliberately been permitted to expand by the U.S.

Department of Justice, I recommend the book written by P. David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry, "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America." The book is a story of how, P, David Gaubatz, and his son, Chris Gaubatz, secretly infiltrated the Muslim organization, CAIR (The Council on American-Islamic Relations), which has been declared by the U.S. Justice Department an "un-indicted terrorist co-conspirator" operating in the U.S. Yet, under the Obama administration, the criminal organization has been allowed by the FBI, CIA, NSA, and the DIA to operate freely in the U.S., and to use the same U.S. Constitutional rights and freedoms, which they are attempting to violently undermine and destroy, for protection against exposure. CAIR has even been given the right and opportunity to sue P. David Gaubatz and his son in federal court for exposing CAIR to the American public. The Gaubatz book contains photographed documentation that conclusively proves that CAIR is directly linked with, and supporting, terrorist groups outside of the United States, such as HAMAS and the Muslim Brotherhood, with money and other resources, in order for them to continue killing American citizens and destroying American property.

In other cases, such as Little Red Riding Hood, the girl is placed into danger where she is being preyed upon, and she must do battle towards the villain in order to manipulate her own way out of his trickery and maintain her purity. From a symbolic standpoint, the young girl will go as far as to prick her finger, releasing something as minuscule as a single drop of blood. This shows the fragility of a young woman’s purity, and how even the smallest event can curse her for a lifetime. In Little Red Riding Hood, she is wearing a red cloak, symbolizing her introduction into puberty and womanhood. This “on the sleeve” sort of showing makes her more vulnerable to larger dangers, like the wolf, which are after her for her newly fertility and virginity. In Byatt’s, The Thing in the Forest, the crimson symbolism is introduced early on in the story, and is revisited throughout.

The two protagonists, Penny and Primrose, are on an almost forced journey towards adulthood, after being separated from their mothers. Their imaginations save them from the tortures and terrors of a world in turmoil, preserving their innocence for as long as they can. Unlike many fairy tales, Byatt’s narrator is not only a storyteller, but also an adult bestowing a sort of disclaimer to the reader before the narrative actually begins. It starts stating that these two girls, Penny and Primrose, “saw, or believed they saw, a thing in a forest.” While incredibly vague, this introduction sets the reader up to have no real expectations, and still maintains a hold on the reader, in order to discover what this “thing” just might be.

A narrative essay is a story that one writes about an experience that happened to them personally. Such an essay accords an opportunity for the writer to obtain a clearer understanding of who they are and usually describes a new insightful fashion by which the writer becomes aware of something in particular about themselves. The story is generally anecdotal and written in a creative and emotionally moving way. It also should spark curiosity in the reader and bring them closer to the one telling the story. Some good topics that can be used include a childhood event, achievement of a goal, a failure that was experienced, a good or bad deed, a life change, or a realization arrived at because of a particular event. Before delving into the writing of the narrative, it is always best to outline exactly what is to be written about and what is to be achieved in terms of the purpose of the essay. The Best Lit Review Topics: August 2020

Понедельник, 30 Марта 2020 г. 06:06 + в цитатник

What Is a Lit Review? A literature review is not a simple summary of what has been written around a specific topic. It is a synthesis of that information to review the different theories and ideas that have been discussed and written about. It may discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the ideas or even trace their historical development over time. Knowing how to format a literature review correctly will ensure that your paper will be laid out correctly when you submit it. Academic writing at this level is usually done to a very specific academic style such as literature review APA format or MLA. Your literature review must follow this style precisely especially when it comes to your citations and references which are a vital part of your literature review. Good academic writing and formatting is vital if your work is to be accepted. Getting your literary review format spot on is very important but often students have limited experience in using the style that is required of them.

It is therefore very important that you get all of the help that you can find to ensure that you apply the different types of formatting required correctly within your paper. Before you start to worry about how to format a literature review or search for nursing literature review topics (if this is a related theme of your lit review) you need to ensure that you have your work on track. Clarify your requirements: most of the time you will be provided with very clear requirements for your assignments and paper. However, with Dos And Don’ts Of Literature Review Writing may be left quite open as to what topic is to be written about. Ensure that you clarify exactly what your tutor is looking for before you get to work so that you don’t waste any time. Look at models to understand how others have approached the task: read past literature reviews of information around your topic area to understand how others have approached the task. This will help to guide your writing as well as often pointing you in the direction of a number of relevant sources for your own writing.

Narrow down your topic: often a student will select a topic area that is simply too broad such as “global warming”. This will fail to focus your research and there will be many thousands of sources of information to look at. You need to provide your research with more focus to narrow down your topic area. Select relevant sources: look at how current your sources are. Even something a few years old may be considered out of date in some fields such as medicine, while you may need to look at the historical development of an idea within sociology. Ensure that sources are going to be relevant to the research that you are conducting. Whether writing in APA, MLA or any other format you must ensure that your formatting is done perfectly. There are some very specific differences between the different types of formatting and you must get it right. APA or the American Psychological Association style of writing is most commonly used within the social sciences such as sociology and psychology. Your citation within your text when you refer to the work of an author will be in the format (Smith, A) using the surname and first initial.

All of the sources that you cite within your literature review must then be listed within your “references” page. Last, F. M. (Year Published) Book. Last, F. M., & Last, F. M. (Year Published). Article title. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), pp. Remember when learning how to do a literature review APA that the origin of your source will affect the layout of the reference within your references section. MLA is the style of the Modern Languages Association and is often used within the humanities such as art, or English language. Within your literature review you will provide the citation using the last name and first name (Smith, Albert). Last, First M. Book. City: Publisher, Year Published. Last, First M., and First M. Last. Journal Title Series Volume. Issue (Year Published): Page(s). When writing your MLA literature review and doing your works cited page always take care with getting the structure of your reference correct depending on where you found the source. As with other papers for student writing you will need to write your literature review to a specific structure.

Try to write your introduction straight from your question analysis, then review it many times while you are writing the body of the essay—this will help you to keep your essay on target (i.e. answering the set question). Note that most introductions generally only include references if definitions are taken from an information source. The introduction to an essay is rather like a formal social introduction: How do you do! This is Mary Bloggs who is a consultant from the Academic Skills office (relevant info about the person for the job about to be done). Good question analysis is critical to the success of your assignment essay, so it is important that you learn a process for analysing a question (statement of purpose). Another approach is actually to state your answer in the introduction and then go on to prove your case in the essay. This approach is far mare exciting because it shows that you have a definite point of view, and are prepared to argue it. It shows an examiner that you have planned your essay, know what you are going to say and in all probability will support it with good evidence. The final type of introduction is far more individual You might use an interesting quote, describe a significant event, take issue with the question or otherwise set the scene It is hard to define, but the effect will be to show that you have complete mastery of the subject, understand the issues at stake and will be dealing with them thoroughly. This kind of introduction will grip readers, impress them and make them want to know more. It’s also very difficult to write!

Not everyone can do this but, as long as you follow some of the guidelines above, you will avoid shooting yourself in the foot before you have even begun. The main body of the essay is where you prove your case. Once you have planned your essay, this section will almost write itself It is just a question of filling in the gaps. You will know what paragraphs you are going to write and what information you are going to use. However, remember that you are making an argument, not narrating a story. You have already identified the key words in the question - now is the time to use them. Every paragraph must refer in some way to the key words or it will be irrelevant. Be ruthless - you will have far more information than you need and must select carefully only that which you need to support your argument. However, you must equally avoid an essay consisting only of argument - you must not make unsubstantiated claims.

3 Tips For Evaluating Primary And Secondary Sources For Research Papers

Воскресенье, 29 Марта 2020 г. 06:42 + в цитатник

When writing research papers, you will be reviewing primary and secondary sources. Here are the differences and how to assess their relevancy. Evaluating primary and secondary sources is a critical step that needs to be taken before you begin to write your research papers. In this article, I will discuss three basic criteria for establishing whether or not the sources you intend to use are good enough to stand up to the critical review of your professors and peers. What are primary and secondary sources? Primary sources are original, first-hand accounts of events written by someone who witnessed the event in question. They can include such things as interviews, memoirs, journals, speeches, diaries, manuscripts, photographs or video recordings. They can also be previously published research reports, such as clinical trials or results of experiments. These are factual, not interpretive accounts. Secondary sources are a second hand account of events and are used to interpret and draw conclusions about the events reported in primary sources. They are a step away from the event under review and provide information indirectly. This content was created with the help of https://essayfreelancewriters.com!

These are things such as biographies, documentaries, encyclopedias or textbooks. History books most often rely on other histories and are often classic examples of secondary sources. Once youve identified your sources, you need to assess how they stand up to these three basic criteria relating to your assignment: applicability, objectivity, and authority. Is the source applicable to your assignment? Determine whether or not the source is relevant to your subject before you spend time reviewing it. Is it suitable or appropriate to use in references? While you may identify sources, from books, to websites, to government records, that offer interesting opinions or facts, if they dont specifically offer something of value to the topic of your paper, dont use them. Is the source objective? When analyzing a source for any research paper, you should look for any bias. If bias is found, it doesnt mean the source must be rejected automatically. This data was generated by Essay Writers!

To do so may cause you to miss out on some very good information. Bias is not often found in primary sources because of the straightforward nature of the source, but it is quite often found in secondary sources where an interpretation is put on the material. Look for any language that is emotion rousing. Determine whether or not the information provided by the source is valid and well researched. Is the source authoritative? It is important that you determine if the expertise of the source has been well established. For example, if the subject is mathematics and the source is a Nobel Prize winner in mathematics, the authority of the source would be well established. This means the burden of proof will be in the favor of the source. Ask yourself if you have ever seen the source mentioned in other sources of bibliographies. It is of paramount importance when citing primary and secondary sources that you cite them accurately so that the reader can validate them. The citation style will vary based on the writing format assigned to you, whether APA or MLA or some other. To ensure accuracy, its best to use formatting software instead of manually editing them.

How To Cassandra 101: IGCSE Past Year Descriptive Essay Task

Суббота, 28 Марта 2020 г. 07:57 + в цитатник

IGCSE Past Year Descriptive Essay task. This is not a CIE sample essay. This essay was written solely by me. Head held high with a broad grin plastered on, emerald green eyes brightly glinting as my protruding cheekbones, brushed fuchsia raised to a halt. My prominent arched eyebrows highlighted my every emotion, the sleek revealing mauve cocktail dress hugged my torso, showing off the hourglass figure. Butterflies fluttered in my belly as my heart thumped violently against the cages of my ribs, I strode out onto the black shimmering platform with the confidence of a champion, my self-esteem putting holes through the roof as rhythm of my heels clacking against the ground added a tinge of groove to the quick upbeat tempo being boomed out to the crowd of posh fashionable middle aged women. Dotting the crowd were a couple of fabulous drag queens as well as a fair amount of dapper looking men clad in either neat traditional tuxedos, or sunglasses, V-necked sweaters and donning colorful skinny jeans as well as bright hair hues to finish their look.

I submerged myself completely into the glamour, the grin on my face turning slightly smug when all of a sudden, a horrid and unpleasant ripping sound tore through the hall. I could remember the mortifying embarrassment till this very day, the faces of the courteous ladies perched on the front row scrunching up in disgust as some snickered in amusement. My cheeks burned with embarrassment, the coloring of crimson red creeping up to my face as my eyes frantically darted across the room pleading for assistance. My pale aged palms clasps together as chills scurried down my spine reminiscing the event of that day, my wrinkled eyelids fastened shut as I was once again, transported back in time. My cheeks grew hotter and hotter, my mind- scrambled like breakfast eggs but at the same time wondering if anyone else shared my mortification. The anxiety and discomfort that had overtaken me made me wiggle my plump toes which now rested on a short stool as my hands fidgeted uncontrollable at each other, picking and scratching, as if it were desperate to erase the memories of that day. The stares and stifles of laughter choked me with humiliation as my courage and confidence dramatically falters- I could almost hear them once again. The embarrassment of that moment 63 years ago catches in my throat, freezing the breath in my lungs making it almost impossible to breathe as the memory seared in my mind begun to replay itself again, and again, and again. Just an essay I wrote for an assignment, but unfortunately, my teacher did not manage to mark it so apologies for any mistakes. Thank you for reading this though, you rock!

The villagers had lost a few goats and poultry to a mystery. The mystery of the missing farm animals spread like a wildfire in the village. We were assured that this would catch the tiger immediately. We had almost given up when suddenly around daybreak we heard the bushes rustle and the leaves crackle. All of us shivered to our spines saw the mystery east coming towards us. We changed our guns and pointed it towards the wild beast. descriptive essay writing examples for college students steadied our guns towards the tiger as he jumped to grab the goat. He fell in the trap. One of the members shot the tiger dead and we rescued the goat safely back to our village.

Sometimes, our ideas make great sense to us, but don't translate clearly to others. Be sure to ask others to evaluate your thesis statement before you begin your research process. click here for more is a fail-safe. It will make sure that you don't fall down a rabbit hole. Show your thesis statement to your professor. If your professor wanted to you to focus on the political causes of the American Revolution, she might stop you from researching farmers. This would save you time in the long run. Identify primary sources/data sources. Depending on your project, you'll need to find ways of collecting information to back up your claims. If your paper is on a science topic, you'll need to set up an experiment and collect data from that experiment. If you are writing a history paper, you'll need to find primary sources (information produced during the time under investigation) that support your thesis statement.

Primary sources can be found in a variety of locations. Some are reprinted in primary source collections. Others can only be accessed in archives or libraries. For our paper on the role of farmers and the American Revolution, we might need to visit local archives and the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration to get the necessary documents. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the volume of research, see if your library has appointments with a research librarian. Librarians stay up to date with current trends in scholarship and can help guide your search. Take extensive notes. While you are performing your experiment or conducting research in an archive or a library, you'll want to create a detailed record of your findings. Take notes on a computer or using note cards. Include author, title, and publication information in your notes, so that you can type up a reference list at the end of your research paper. You can also use a program such as EndNote, RefWorks, or LaTEX to help you manage your citations.

Create a note sheet of quotations that you may want to use in your research paper. It is better to gather more than you need at this point, since you will need evidence from reputable sources to support your thesis. Evaluate your sources. Do some research about the author, so that you can establish their credibility. Were your documents created by somebody with an obvious bias? Are your documents original or were they reproduced after the fact? Is the document complete? For web sources, use sources from peer-reviewed journals, government institutions and organizations, and public archives first. Blogs and other non-authoritative web sources are usually inappropriate for a research paper. Organize your notes. Put your notes/data in a logical order that backs up your thesis statement. Organize them so they flow from one to the next. For our imaginary project, it would be best to put your notes on quartered British troops before notes on farmer's revolutionary actions. Although Questioning Conventional Production Of Contemplative Knowledge

Четверг, 26 Марта 2020 г. 15:29 + в цитатник

This article starts out from the postmodern critique on higher education, which presents a challenge to discard the contemplative conception of knowledge and promotes a pragmatic conception of inquiry, knowing how and higher learning. Experimental everyday inquiry and scientific research do not differ from each other in this respect: both entail learning by doing as the experience accumulating through action shapes both the actor's habits and the knowing how on which they are based. Under the conditions in which the special nature of traditional scientific knowledge is questioned, students should be acquainted with unprejudiced action that experiments with and questions everything we are used to, and yet is based on consideration even in doubtful situations. The article offers a starting point for embedding learning that is achieved by inquiring, experimenting and doing in the higher education curriculum. Although questioning conventional production of contemplative knowledge, the article calls for a strong academic community which allows researchers themselves to decide in their scientific discussions what is science and what is not.

The writer points out the specific details of the time era that only people of the time would relate. More importantly, the writer analyzes Morrow’s ideas as critical to formulating an opinion about Nixon, Kennedy and Johnson. However, the writer points out the assumptions Morrow makes between personal lifestyle and how it affects the political arena. Moreover, the writer suggests that Morrow’s claims aren't entirely valid just because the author mentions historical events. Unlike Tannen’s analytical example, the writer lets the readers know the misconnection between moral value and the lifestyle of many people at the time. Both article analyses show a clear way to present different persuasive points of view. Unlike a summary, an analysis approach offers the reader an explicit representation of the author’s viewpoints without any opinions. The writers of each sample focus on providing evidence, facts and reasonable statements. Consequently, each example demonstrates the proper use of the critical analysis of the literature and evaluates the purpose of the author. Without seeking an agreement or not, the writer clearly distinguishes between a summary and an analysis of each article. How To Write An Analytical Exposition Essay

Среда, 25 Марта 2020 г. 02:26 + в цитатник

Analytical and expository essays are used to reflect in some way on a specific topic. The topic can be most anything, from a particular event or person to a scientific theory or political ideology. Regardless of what the essay is about, most analytical or expository essays conform to a specific structure. They all have an introduction, a main body and a conclusion. The process of getting to this structure may be different for everybody, but a series of basic steps do apply. Select your topic. Try to pick something manageable, that will fit within the space specifications of your essay. Organize your ideas. You can do this in several different ways. For instance, some people will simply make a list of their ideas and select the ones they like. Other people who think more visually might make a tree of their ideas, beginning with the central topic and drawing “branches” to represent other ideas working from the central topic.

Some people might engage in free-writing -- simply putting their ideas on paper with no worries for structure, simply to see where their ideas go. Write a thesis statement. This is the single most important section of your essay. analytical essay example sample is essentially a sentence that explains what your central argument or idea is. You will use this idea to develop everything else in your essay. While thesis statements are usually only one sentence long, they can be longer if necessary, but the more direct your thesis, the better. With your thesis statement in mind, pick three or four ideas from your list that you feel support this statement. Write a topic sentence for each one of these ideas. These will be the topic sentences for each paragraph of your essay's main body. Plot the body of your essay. This is where your formal structure comes into play. Take each of the topic sentences you wrote for the main body, and decide the order in which you wish to present them. This material will be between the introduction and the conclusion. Write your introduction. The introduction must include your thesis statement as well as the topic sentences for each paragraph in the main body. You also want to capture the reader's interest, making certain that he or she will read your essay all the way through. Write a paragraph for each of the topic sentences. Expand upon how this topic sentence supports your thesis and provide any information to back up your statements. Write a concluding paragraph for your essay. The conclusion must restate the thesis, restate each of your arguments in support of the thesis, and generally bring the essay to an effective close. Word all of these differently than you did at the beginning and in the body. Also, be sure to never introduce any new material in the conclusion.

It will also make clearer your premises (supporting statements of an argument) and uphold your conclusion better. Finally, make sure you are following the rules of logic. In part three of this series, I discuss the common forms of valid arguments. If it rains, I’ll go to the movies. I go to the movies. The above argument is invalid. Because it might be the case that I went to the movies and it didn’t rain. With a conditional, the only time it is false is if the antecedent is true and the consequent is false (i.e. it does, in fact rain, and I didn’t go to the movies.) The antecedent of an argument is the first part of a conditional statement - the “if.” The consequent of an argument is the second part of a conditional statement, the “then” part. Another common invalid argument form is denying the antecedent. If it rains, I’ll go the movies. I don’t go to the movies. This is invalid for the same reasons the first argument is invalid - it might rain, and I might still go to the movies.

The two arguments stated in this section are two of the most common invalid argument forms. Learn them and avoid them to make your opinion essay strong. Finally, make sure before you hit that “submit” button on your essay that you spend a little time proofreading for errors. You never know when a “tehir” instead of a “their” may derail your efforts. Also, it almost goes without saying, check your grammar and spelling. Remember, if either of these is off enough to make your writing unclear, you will receive a lower score than you want. What Makes a Good Argument Analysis? In graduate school, when you disagree with an author it won’t be enough to say that you believe the author is flawed. Instead, you will be expected to analyze the arguments the author provides and demonstrate whether you think their argument is valid and sound. Valid arguments are those that follow this law: It is impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion to be false. For example, if I say, “All horses are mammals.

Mr. Ed is a horse. Therefore, Mr. Ed is a mammal.” I have given a classic valid argument. If, on the other hand I say something like “If it snows, it will be cold. It snows. Therefore it is hot,” I have created an invalid argument. Before taking the GRE, it may be helpful to familiarize yourself with basic logic. Sound arguments are those that are both valid and have all true premises. For example, if I say, “Either cats are reptiles or cats are amphibians. Cats are not reptiles. Therefore, cats are amphibians.” I have created an unsound argument. This is actually a fallacy - a false dichotomy. A false dichotomy is when only two options are given when there are more options available. A good book to learn fallacies from is Anthony Flew’s A Rulebook for Arguments. 1. Modus Ponens (If P then Q, P, Q) For example, If it’s raining I’ll go to the movies. It’s raining. I’ll go to the movies. Data has been generated with https://essayfreelancewriters.com.

The 5 paragraph argumentative essay (also commonly referred to as s the persuasive paper) is easily the most common writing assignments you will ever encounter in your schooling. It follows a simple but highly effect structure for putting forth an argument on a given issue with three main parts: the introduction, the body paragraphs, and the conclusion. No matter what you choose to write about you should always start by creating an outline to use for guidance as you write each draft. An abortion ethics essay can get out of hand real fast if you don’t have an effective tool for maintaining structure. A good outline will make the entire process much easier for you, so that you can focus more on content rather than having to worry about keeping to the strict rules of the 5 paragraph form. Your first paragraph serves as the introduction or gateway into your abortion argumentative essay topic. There are check this list that all good introductions should have: a great opening or “hook” statement, background or contextual information, and a thesis statement. Since this is a serious topic you always want to make sure your hook is appropriate.

Avoid any jokes and instead employ the use of a compelling question, a quote, or even a personal anecdote. The main thing is that it needs to relate to your topic directly and introduce your audience to what you will be discussing. The three body paragraphs make up the core of your paper. Each should follow this basic structure: a topic sentence, one or two sentences expressing your ideas on the topic, a supporting statement taken from a reliable resource, your thoughts on how the supporting statement works to prove your point, and finally a transitional sentence to lead the reader into the next topic. Ideally, you should always have your strongest argument go first, with your weakest one going last. But this can be modified depending on what makes the most logical sense. It’s much easier to rearrange things on an outline than it is once you’ve written a first draft, so get your outline ordered perfectly before you start. ESSAY: LITERARY ANALYSIS

Понедельник, 23 Марта 2020 г. 23:27 + в цитатник

For this assignment, your main goal in a literary analysis essay is NOT summarize the book and tell readers that you enjoyed the book you selected; your main task is to assess and to analyze what you think one of the themes of the book is, using smaller bits of the main idea and creating categories of analysis, such as setting, character, plot conflicts, narrative point of view, symbols, and thematic elements. This essay should be approximately 500 - 750 words. How does the author's stylistic choices (setting, sensory details, characterization, symbolism etc.) contribute the overall structure, meaning, and impact of the work? Choose a book that you've read this semester. Choose some literary devices (2-3) that you think are essential in constructing the book's overall theme. Your essay must have a central idea (stated in your thesis) that governs its development. Your essay must be organized so that every part contributes something to the reader’s understanding of the central idea.

Assume that your reader is NOT familiar with the work. Tell your reader what the work is about (not what happens, but what the happenings add up to). Write in third person pov! Brief Summary - Write three to four sentences that provide background information about your work (What is the work about? When was it written?). Include the title and author of the work. Thesis statement - three part statement that presents the topic of your essay. EXAMPLE: Robert Frost uses setting, characterization, and sensory detail in “Mending Wall” to illustrate a theme about the importance of neighbors. Use a topic sentence to begin your paragraph, one that introduces the literary device you’ll be discussing for that specific paragraph (character, setting, sensory detail, etc). Chose TWO examples from the work. Explain how each device signifies/expresses meaning. Restate your main points. Explain why you think the author felt the topic discussed in the work was important.

Explain how the topic/main idea of the work relates to the outside world. Theme: The story's ideas? Author's attitude towards those ideas? Author's "statement" about those ideas? The story's message or main point? Conflict: What people/forces/ideas/interests/values/institutions oppose each other? What Literary analysis outline must the characters make? Between what two things is he/she deciding? What do these things represent? Characterization: What kinds of person/people are the character(s)? How do they conduct themselves? What do they say and do to reval themselves? What do others say and do about the? What are your opinions or feelings about them? Classifications of types of characters include: protagonist, antagonist, foil, stereotype, flat, round, static, dynamic. Symbolism: What concrete, specific objects have been used to represent abstract ideas? What colors, names, settings, recurring objects have been referred to? What ideas do these represent? Setting :Setting refers to TIME and PLACE: Time: of day, year, era/age? Rich and opulent or poor and simple? Stark and barren landscape? What feelings (atmosphere) are evoked just by the setting? Style: The way the writer chooses to arrange his sentence structure (syntax) as well as the words (diction) he chooses. What is the overall effect of the way he writes? Simple, involved, poetic, colloquial, humorous, pedantic, child-like? How does it contribute to the author’s message and the overall effect the author wishes to create? This article has been written with the help of Essay Freelance Writers.

In the case of Australia, this theory traces the ‘transportation’ of British convicts into the country and their subsequent difficult and often bloody encounters with the native people, marked by the image and axiom: “The black man is the white man’s burden” (Pope 2002:138-151). Postcolonialism traces how perceptions of the colonised have been tainted, for example, it questions the derogatory associations placed on the word ‘black’ to contain dominant associations with “evil”, “dirt” and “darkness” against “white” to contain associations with “goodness”, “innocence”, “light” and “cleanliness”. It also uncovers other negative effects of colonisation in terms of renaming and mapping which suggests perceived undesirability of the original entities, for example, Rhodesia turned into Zimbabwe and in the case of the Philippines, subjects’ surnames were turned Hispanic to be considered worthy of belonging to the Spanish colony (Pope, 2002:148, Perdon, 2010: 92). Maps have also been misrepresented to show countries of European colonisers’ are bigger than their colonised counterparts.

This theory allows the reader to process elements of the texts and their possible interpretations that call for moral and ethical responses. Commonalities between the two theories include the appreciation of diversity of peoples as well as concepts and interpretation for better cultural and social systems and processes. Kress (1996) regards cultural diversity as having economic advantages in a globalised society because of the inherent natural and cultural products it generates. He states: “Cultural diversity represents technological and informational diversity (using ‘technology’ in the wider sense of ‘the means of dealing with the demands of specific environment) much greater than anything offered by the Internet” (p.14). The second prominent feature that is common to the two theories above concerns the opportunity for readers, consumers and viewers to be empowered in terms of their dealing with texts. In Poststructuralism and Postcolonialism, recipients are not just passive consumers of the text, but also active negotiators (or resistant) makers of meaning. Readers will begin to understand the cultural place upon which he or she was positioned in the story and story telling as well as in the history of the nation.

TJ Addington - Leading From The Sandbox : November 2020

Понедельник, 23 Марта 2020 г. 08:59 + в цитатник

Leaders often get a pass on character issues that are not blatantly sin but are problematic nevertheless. This is especially true of leaders who can produce results and it is not uncommon for results to trump character in our evaluation of leaders. The problem is that these overlooked character issues do in fact matter. Allowing them to continue is dangerous for the leader as these traits generally grow rather than diminish if not checked. It is also dangerous for the organization and in fact puts the organization at risk both of a problematic culture and the possibility that their leader will get himself/herself into trouble because of these character issues. Supervisors, colleagues and boards all should be aware of these problematic behaviors and find ways to press into them when they see them - for everyone's sake. No matter how good someone is, these behaviors are a loss for everyone!

Never being wrong. This may mean a lack of admission, blaming others when things go wrong, spiritualizing them away or not apologizing to those for whom wrong decisions had a negative impact. Not admitting errors or bad decisions is a sign either of an insecure or prideful leader. Often the two go together. Spiritualizing everything. This behavior is problematic on two counts. First, people usually spiritualize when something goes wrong and they don't want to take personal responsibility. Second, it is the "God card." To push back on something that God is "responsible for" is pretty hard. Lot's of things are not spiritual. They are what they are and they are the results of decisions we have made. Manipulative behavior. If you feel manipulated in a relationship it is probably present. This can take many forms but its design is to use you for their purposes. Manipulative behavior is really about using others for outcomes we want and is thus a violation of the free will of other people. It is wrong, violates other people and a sign of a personality disorder in the one who uses it.

Exaggeration. This is usually about ministry results or it may also be about ministry possibilities or plans. Exaggeration is dishonesty whether through overly optimistic thinking or wanting to paint a picture so good that it violates truth. It is salesmanship over the top rather than truthful and factual and it goes to the heart of what it means to speak truth and to avoid untruths. Information withholding. This is actually a form of control and manipulation. As a leader, if I withhold information that could and should be known by others I have power that they don't have. It is very effective and very unhealthy. Some leaders will share information that makes them or their cause look good but carefully withhold information that would do the opposite. It is a dishonest, manipulative and self serving behavior. Unwillingness to listen. This behavior conveys an arrogance that I have the answers, I know the direction, I don't need you and you have little to contribute to my thinking. Eventually this behavior and attitude will contribute to problems if not a train wreck.

Those who will not listen carefully to others are displaying a dangerous autonomy. https://essayfreelancewriters.com/blog/leadership-essay/ if crossed. This is both a sign of self importance and entitlement - how dare you disagree with me - and well as manipulative - this is what happens when you cross me. Autonomous people don't like to be challenged and autonomous people are dangerous in leadership. Anger shuts down alternative views and robust dialogue. For or against mentality. This behavior rewards those who agree with and push the agenda of the leader and punishes those who disagree or speak candidly. Those who agree are insiders while those who disagree find themselves outsiders. Like, anger, this behavior shuts down alternate views and robust and healthy dialogue. It is not uncommon for those with this behavior to reward their inner circle with gifts, compliments and praise while being critical and cool toward the outsiders. Again, this is manipulative behavior designed to allow the leader to get his/her way and accomplish their agenda. They have the skill of making insiders feel very good and outsiders very bad - even abandoned. Self importance. All of this is about an inflated self importance and the assumption that "I am the one who can make this ministry flourish." Without me it will fail or be much less than it is with me. Self importance must elevate self and to do that it must also devalue others and their contribution. When it becomes about the leader, healthy team is impossible. These behaviors are antithetical to the leadership style and teaching of Jesus. They are also destructive to team and devaluing of others. When we choose to overlook them we end up hurting the ministry we represent and the staff who are impacted.

Introductions And Conclusions

Воскресенье, 22 Марта 2020 г. 12:14 + в цитатник

Introductions and conclusions play a special role in the academic essay, and they frequently demand much of your attention as a writer. A good introduction should identify your topic, provide essential context, and indicate your particular focus in the essay. It also needs to engage your readers’ interest. A strong conclusion will provide a sense of closure to the essay while again placing your concepts in a somewhat wider context. It will also, in some instances, add a stimulus to further thought. Since no two essays are the same, no single formula will automatically generate an introduction and conclusion for you. But the following guidelines will help you to construct a suitable beginning and end for your essay. 1. Some students cannot begin writing the body of the essay until they feel they have the perfect introduction. Be aware of the dangers of sinking too much time into the introduction. Some of that time can be more usefully channeled into planning and writing. 2. You may be the kind of writer who writes an introduction first in order to explore your own thinking on the topic.

If so, remember that you may at a later stage need to compress your introduction. 3. It can be fine to leave the writing of the introduction for a later stage in the essay-writing process. Some people write their introduction only after they have completed the rest of the essay. Others write the introduction first but rewrite it significantly in light of what they end up saying in the body of their paper. 4. The introductions for most papers can be effectively written in one paragraph occupying half to three-quarters of the first page. Your introduction may be longer than that, and it may take more than one paragraph, but be sure you know why. https://essayfreelancewriters.com/blog/introduction-paragraph-for-an-essay/ of your introduction should bear some relationship to the length and complexity of your paper. A twenty page paper may call for a two-page introduction, but a five-page paper will not. 5. Get to the point as soon as possible. Generally, you want to raise your topic in your very first sentences.

A common error is to begin too broadly or too far off topic. 6. If your essay has a thesis, your thesis statement will typically appear at the end of your introduction, even though that is not a hard-and-fast rule. You may, for example, follow your thesis with a brief road map to your essay that sketches the basic structure of your argument. The longer the paper, the more useful a road map becomes. How do I write an interesting, effective introduction? 1. Find a startling statistic that illustrates the seriousness of the problem you will address. 2. Quote an expert (but be sure to introduce him or her first). 3. Mention a common misperception that your thesis will argue against. 4. Give some background information necessary for understanding the essay. 5. Use a brief narrative or anecdote that exemplifies your reason for choosing the topic. In an assignment that encourages personal reflection, you may draw on your own experiences; in a research essay, the narrative may illustrate a common real-world scenario.

6. In a science paper, explain key scientific concepts and refer to relevant literature. Lead up to your own contribution or intervention. 7. In a more technical paper, define a term that is possibly unfamiliar to your audience but is central to understanding the essay. 1. Don’t provide dictionary definitions, especially of words your audience already knows. 2. Don’t repeat the assignment specifications using the professor’s wording. 3. Don’t give details and in-depth explanations that really belong in your body paragraphs. You can usually postpone background material to the body of the essay. 1. A conclusion is not merely a summary of your points or a re-statement of your thesis. If you wish to summarize—and often you must—do so in fresh language. Remind the reader of how the evidence you’ve presented has contributed to your thesis. 2. The conclusion, like much of the rest of the paper, involves critical thinking. Step By Step Guide To Writing An Essay

Воскресенье, 22 Марта 2020 г. 02:58 + в цитатник

So your teacher assigned another essay to write. Does the mere thought of putting pen to paper - or fingers to the keyboard - send shivers down your spine? For many students in elementary, middle or high school, it does, but writing an essay shouldn’t be intimidating. As long as you know the basic steps of essay writing, you should be well-equipped to handle any essay topic. There are many different types of essays you might be asked to write in elementary, middle or high school. Some of the most common include narrative, expository, argumentative, persuasive, comparative and literary. Are you presenting an overview or telling a story about the topic (narrative) or are you providing an analysis (expository)? Do you have to convince the reader to adopt a certain point of view or to take a particular action (persuasive)? Are you writing an essay about a book you read (literary)? Determining the type of essay is the first step to writing a targeted essay. An essay outline is your road map. This was generated with Essay Freelance Writersversion!

It will guide you through to the finished product. When you create an outline, you organize your thoughts about your topic. First, write your topic at the top of the page. Then list all the points or arguments you want to make about the essay topic. Finally, list the facts, examples and statistics that support those points or arguments. Your thesis should inform the reader what point you will be making or what question you will be answering about the topic. In other words, it is a prelude to your conclusion. A thesis statement should be as specific as possible and address one main idea. Strong theses also take a stand or illustrate the controversial nature of a topic. The first paragraph of your essay will introduce your topic and provide direction for the entire essay. The introduction should discuss your main idea, or what the essay is about, then state your thesis and points or arguments that support your thesis.

how to write an informative essay outline sets the tone for your essay, and you want to grab the reader’s attention with interest and clarity. To capture the reader’s attention, you can make a challenging claim about the topic or present some surprising (but factual) information. The body of the essay provide details for the points in your introductory paragraph that support your thesis. Take the points you listed in your introduction and discuss each in one body paragraph. First, write a topic sentence that summarizes your point then explain why you feel the topic sentence is true. Finally, support your argument with evidence such as facts, quotes, examples and statistics. The conclusion summarizes the essay and gives the reader closure. In three or four concise sentences, you should reiterate your thesis and review the main points of the body of the essay. Just be sure not to restate your previous words exactly. You can even briefly describe your opinion of the topic.

Your final sentence should uphold your main idea in a clear and compelling manner. Just remember to tackle each step one at a time. Some people do better when they work backwards from the conclusion. Write a rough draft of your essay first - don’t try to get it perfect the first time through. After you finish your rough draft, proofread it thoroughly and revise until you have a strong, informative essay. Online lessons like Time4Writing’s essay writing classes can help children build and strengthen the foundation for strong essay writing skills in elementary school, middle school, high school and beyond. These interactive essay writing classes build basic writing skills, explain essay types and structure, and teach students how to organize their ideas. Time4Writing is popular as a writing homeschool curriculum, for afterschool enrichment, for remediation, and as a summer school alternative. All of Time4Writing’s online lessons are led by certified writing teachers who provide valuable feedback after every writing assignment.

If your essay is intended to be informative or explain (analytical), write the major categories into which information can be divided. Now draw three more lines out from each circle containing a main idea. At the end of each of these lines, draw another circle. Finally, in each of these circles write down facts or information that help support the main idea. The following are useful steps for developing an outline to organize ideas for your essay. Take a page of paper and write your topic at the top. Now, down the left side of the page, under the topic, write Roman numerals I, II, and III, sequentially. Next to each Roman numeral, write the main points, or ideas, about your essay topic. If this is persuasive essay, write your arguments. If this an essay to inform, write the major categories into which information will be divided. If the purpose of your essay is to explain a process, write down each step of the process. Next, under each Roman numeral, write A, B, and C down the left hand side of the page.

Суббота, 21 Марта 2020 г. 14:47 + в цитатник

Describe your career progress to date and your future short-term and long-term career goals. How do you expect a Wharton MBA to help you achieve these goals, and why is now the best time for you to join our program? Describe a failure or setback that you have experienced. What role did you play and what did you learn about yourself? Tell us about a situation in which you were an outsider. What did you learn from the experience? Is there anything about your background or experience that you feel you have not had the opportunity to share with the Admissions Committee in your application? If yes, please explain. In total you will need to write at least 2500 words. We often get asked about essay length, specifically whether it is OK to go over the number of words suggested. 10% is going to be fine (and remain unnoticed). Any more than this and it may become an issue as writing succinctly is a skill that is useful in business and business school.

You should also realize your readers are reading multiple essays from multiple applicants so writing long essays is not likely to be a positive. The exceptions to the above may be if you have a more unusual background (by business school standards) and feel you have a little more to explain (about your less traditional goals, experience etc.) In this case you may need to explain the nature of your experiences in more detail, but this does not give you the license to write at will! I don't think there is a case where it makes sense to write much less than the suggested word count as the essays are going to be an important component to your application and should be used as such. I will not provide much further analysis of this question, but instead, I suggest taking look at my analysis of Chicago GSB Essay 1. If you are having difficulty formulating your goals, please see this post. Regarding learning about Wharton, there is little reason for me to discuss that as you can easily learn about by visiting the Wharton website and their truly excellent MBA Admissions Blog! This article was done by https://essayfreelancewriters.com!

Did you ask good questions to the interviewer? Could you express how passionate you were and how much you had to contribute to the school? 3. Was there a problem with the way you expressed your desire for an MBA or your goals? Actually almost every re-applicant I have worked with had a serious problem clearly articulating their goals. If you think your goals might be the problem, read this and complete the table you can find there. Were your goals based on any research? Did your goals take present difficult economic circumstances into account? 4. Did your essays fully demonstrate your potential as a student and a professional? Did you come across as a unique applicant? The way you write about who you are and what you have done is a major way that admissions evaluates this. More specifically: Could you clearly express selling points about yourself in your essays? Did you provide sufficient details about what you did combined with a sufficient explanation for why?

Are your essays about you or just about what you have done? Are your essays mere extensions of bullet points on your resume or do they tell effective stories about you? Do you really understand the essay questions? How effective were in writing about such common topics as contributions, leadership, and/or failure? As is usual for Chicago GSB admissions, they have provided some great advice, this time on the topic of reapplication. Show us why you're different. Each year thousands of students apply to business school and yet many qualified candidates are not offered admission. With MBA admissions growing more and more competitive each year, it's really important to stand out in the crowd by attempting to differentiate yourself from those of a similar profile. Tell us about your challenges, interesting achievements, unique perspectives and stories. Showing admissions why you are unique is something that all applicants should really focus on. 5. Did you put a sufficient amount of time into writing your essays? Writing great essays usually takes time and multiple drafts. Did you write multiple drafts of your essays? Were your essays quickly written? Did a significant amount of thought go into them? Define the leadership concept don't have to be literary masterpieces to be effective, but they do need to be well thought out and polished. 6. Did your resume (CV) present your professional, academic, and extracurricular experience effectively? A great MBA resume requires effective presentation of your past experience so that an admissions committee can gain insight into your potential to succeed in the MBA program and in your future career. A great resume is also an effective agenda setting device for an interview. Did your resume contain clear statements about your accomplishments? Did your resume honestly and effectively represent the full range of your experience? Did your resume showcase your potential as a manager, businessperson, and/or leader?

Be sure that Web-based sources do not constitute the bulk of your bibliography, or you could find that you've left the mainstream without even realizing it and stepped away from some of the most important resources available to you. 7. Let https://essayfreelancewriters.com/custom-dissertation-writing/ stand by force, not by proof. Spend enough hours listening to cable news and you may start to get the impression that the goal of debate is to win, and the way to win is to outshout the other side! Being a geek by nature, I sometimes like to play little academic games when I watch T.V., and one of them is "count the fallacies" in the arguments that T.V. T.V., but they never result in a solid argument. If your dissertation is going to withstand serious critique and make a contribution to your field, every assertion must be justified and every argument must be fallacy-free. 8. Turn in your first draft. The revision process is about polishing your work. Weak arguments get strengthened, fuzzy ideas get clarified, redundancies get eliminated, language gets tightened. If you're like most doctorandi, you're always rushing toward the next deadline.

When running out of time, the easiest thing to cut out is the revision process. 9. Don't bother with input from others. You've probably had only a course or two in statistics; why not let a professional statistician help you with the statistical portions of your work? You may not be confident of your APA formatting (or whatever style sheet you're using); why not let a professional editor proof your text? What about just having someone in your department give you feedback on the cogency of your arguments? There's nothing like a fresh set of eyes to catch the things that you're too close to see anymore. Staying well within the bounds of academic integrity, don't be afraid to reach out for help with the aspects of your work in which you're not an expert, so that the expertise you do have is presented as effectively as it can be.

10. Prove your point at all cost. What's wrong with being wrong? The process of determining that fact will be a valuable contribution to your field. Academic work is a process of discovery, and sometimes that means discovering that our initial hypotheses were wrong. The honest presentation of the sound methodology leading you to that conclusion will be worthwhile reading for your colleagues. Any effort to get around the facts will show bias--the single greatest threat to a worthwhile dissertation. In academia, there's no failure where there's genuine learning. By contrast, there's nothing but failure when points are "proven" by doctored results, ignored evidence, faked methodologies supplied after the research has actually been done, and forced arguments designed to cover up the truth and arrive at a preferred conclusion. You can start your project with this confidence: If you carry out your research with integrity, follow a solid methodology, consider all relevant points of view, and report honestly what you find, then whatever conclusion you reach will be worthwhile. And if you don't, it won't.

Google - The Best Social Environment For Equal Opportunity

Пятница, 20 Марта 2020 г. 06:54 + в цитатник

The Internet is under attack by the Obama Administration through executive powers. This does not bode well for the Internet entrepreneurs or for political speech. The following is an analysis of how the Internet and specifically Google has created a free world-wide social environment. The governments of the world should study the Internet Society. They might learn something. Google is known as a search engine for relevant information in the Internet. There are other search engines or browsers such as Yahoo, Explorer, MSN Bing, etc. However, Google is more than that just a browser. Google has managed to create the foundation of a solid natural and free social environment, a virtual society with no geographical or language barriers. In the name of fairness, I am strongly biased towards individual freedom. I grew up under communism but more importantly, I witnessed the transition from a free society to communism and the disappearance of freedom. more info here.. was done by https://essayfreelancewriters.comversion!

The communist movement expected that all international masses will assume power and become a great world communist system. Had Google and the Internet been around in those days, communism would have embraced it and maybe would have learned something useful: Freedom of the masses can be very constructive. I wish the present politicians would take a look and learn something from the environment Google has created and it is still nurturing. Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google in January 1996 as a research project when they were both PhD students at Stanford University in California. The Google name comes from "Googol". Googol refers to the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. This is such a large number that can not be achieved if you count all the sand particles on the whole universe. It was supposed to mean an infinity number of people and their interactions with no end in sight. This has been created by https://essayfreelancewriters.comversion.

Google runs over one million servers in data centers around the world, and processes over one billion search requests and twenty petabytes (1000 trillion) of user-generated data every day, which is an incredible achievement. Google got started with just $100,000 from a private investor. Larry Page and Sergey Brin had a vision and a dream with a purpose: Match other peoples' dreams and desires with each other, so all can benefit. If a vendor had a good product or service, Google made it easy for the seeking party to find it. A book author could publish and sell a book without going through a publisher. Google made it easier to promote the book. Talented individuals on a shoe string could start a home business over night. There are billions of sites on the Internet with all kinds of information or products for sale. All of that information has been posted by individuals or companies in the expectation to be found and/or shared by interested parties or prospects. Google did not create the information; private parties and institutions did. This has been generated with the help of Essay Writers!

Google's mission was to come up with the best possible presentation to any inquiry. This is not a trivial task, certainly not on the Internet. Complex algorithms as well as site ratings are being used to connect requests with delivery sites. Before Google came into existence, the early browsers such as Netscape, MS Explorer, Yahoo and dozens more used straight forward techniques of cataloging words or phrases and associating them with relevant sites. However, when you deal with billions of sites and entries every day, it is very difficult to determine which site provides the best and most relevant information requested through a query. Using Google's browser, the satisfactory result usually comes up on top of the first page out of millions of postings containing similar information. People would very seldom look beyond the first three pages. Larry Page had an idea: To evaluate pages in the order of importance and relevance, they would count the number of back links to that particular site. The total amount of links and where they were coming from was also important.

For instance, if I were a small contractor designing home theaters and had no money for advertising my business, I would design a website with all sorts of instructions and drawings as a portfolio to help my prospects understand how I would deploy a project. The site will look like a tutorial. The next step would be to contact some major distributors of home theater furniture, electronics, cables, etc. and ask them to link my educational site to theirs and offer it to their customers as an educational tool for a do-it-yourself project. All parties benefit. The same concept works when someone with expertise in a particular field publishes useful information through a variety of electronic publications. The author's link will point to his site and Google will index it and qualify it. Google calls this new technology PageRank where a website's relevance was determined by the number of pages and the importance of those pages is linked back to the original site.

It offers can offer some interesting insights into how racism was perceived and manifested in various social spheres during the 19th century and how it is different today. You can explore how racism is changing its face. Racism always has and is still one of the most prevalent social problems in the United States and other European countries. It is a social vice that has powerful roots in the society, and its elimination has almost proven impossible. Many believe that the community has worked towards ending this vice, but there is still evidence of racial discrimination in interactions between whites and people of color (Brown, 2004). The reason that pushes people into believing that racism has ended is that it has changed over the years and taken new forms. For help with essay, please contact https://essayfreelancewriters.com!

It is essential to evaluate how racism has transformed since the 19th century to modern-day forms. In the 19th century, racism was open and acceptable in the American society. During these years the whites were treated as superiors to people of color (Jahoda, 2009). People of color were a source of labor and servants to the whites. The acceptable name for people of color in the 19th century was slaves (Jahoda, 2009). Slave trade was multimillion-dollar business that was practiced freely in most parts of the world in the 19th century (Jahoda, 2009). Even the people of color themselves new that they were inferior to the whites, but could not act as state governments were in support of their treatment. Racism during the 19th century was an ordinary and acceptable practice in the 19th century. However, today racism is hidden but very prevalent in the society. After civil rights movements rose in the 19th and 20th century and pushed for the emancipation of people of color from slavery, governments acted and ended the practice. Laws were put in place to end slavery.

Policies were made to ensure that people of color had equal rights as the whites (Brown, 2004). However, fewer efforts if any have been made to ensure that indeed people of color enjoy the same rights as the whites. The American law favors the whites over people of color (Brown, 2004). In the past, racism was an open practice, but today it is hidden, and one has to look deep inside social interactions to spot racial discrimination. In the 19th century, people of color had no rights as they were considered as property to their merchants (Mosse, 1995). They were exposed to inhumane treatment such as often beatings and being overworked (Mosse, 1995). They were not allowed to own property and had no free dom to do as they pleased. During these years, the lives of people of color were dependent on the choices of their owners (Mosse, 1995). The whites had the right to kill people of color who went against their rules. People of color were aware of what would happen to them if they acted against the command of their merchants.

In the modern day world, people of color have rights that warrant them equal treatment as the whites, but these laws are just a way to justify the end of racial discrimination. In the past, no laws were prohibiting racial discrimination, and therefore people of color had no issues with the treatment they received from the whites (Brown, 2004). However, today with such laws in place people of color would expect fair treatment, but this has not happened since the 19th century. The American criminal justice system evidences this allegation, people of color are treated more harshly by the law than the whites (Brown, 2004). If both a white and black person commits murder, they will be given different sentences with the white person getting a fair one. In the 19th century, people of color had no rights to own property as they were regarded as the property of the whites (Jahoda, 2009). But when slavery came to an end, they were given the right to own property. This was created with the help of Essay Writers!

However, these laws did not bring an end to racial discrimination is it arose in property ownership (Jahoda, 2009). The whites could not allow people of color to own property in areas where they resided. History shows that the whites cautioned real estate dealers from allowing people of color to own homes in areas where they lived (Jahoda, 2009). The value of land or property owned by people of color would fall, while that of property owned by whites would rise. Today, there are residential areas owned by whites only and people of color can never be allowed to own property in such areas. Brutality on people of color was a common practice in the 19th century, but laws were later put in place to stop such treatments (Mosse, 1995). However, brutality on people of color has continued to spread not just among ordinary white persons but also the police.

Forearm Exercises For Forearm Strength - How To Begin

Среда, 18 Марта 2020 г. 23:39 + в цитатник

How to begin depends on where we are. Just as the direction we go when we start a trip is determined by where we are and where we want to go, so too our forearm training will start differently depending on how we have been using our hands, and progress depending on what we want to achieve. When we were young, most of us were using our hands continually. As children, we used our hands in sports and school in a way that strengthened them with little need for anything additional (remember writer's cramp?) As a youth, if we had an interest in sports, we may have begun forearm exercises to strengthen our grip or hands or wrist for their specific use in the sport. Even if we didn't do sports, everyday activities usually kept the hands fairly strong. As we got older, many of us began to use various devices that were designed to require minimal hand or forearm strength, such as remote controls and cell phones, and did less and less of the activities that kept our hands strong as youths. This post has been generated by Essay Writers!

And finally, after middle age, if we had little to no manual labor, we would have had many years of only very light forearm exercise, and the muscles, bones, and ligaments would have weakened considerably. Our age and how much we have used our hands affects how we can start forearm exercises. If we have been using our hands with force for a good while, we can start with more work for our forearms than if our hands have not been working hard. For those who have not been using their hands much, we should start with light weight and only a little work- only a few repetitions and/or sets. No discomfort over the following two days tells us we can do more. Considerable discomfort tells us to cut back. A mild discomfort for a short time is probably about right. It usually indicates enough work was done to stimulate growth, and not too much to slow recovery.

https://essayfreelancewriters.com/blog/difference-between-begin-began-and-begun/ is to use a 2 inch bar in place of the standard one inch bar when you do your other arm or shoulder work. One or two sets with the 2 inch bar is enough to start. You will need to use a lower weight than you use with the standard one inch bar. For the rest of your arm or shoulder work you can return to the standard bar. If you are young or have been using your hands heavily, you may not notice any difference in how your wrist feels. If after 2 weeks (4 to 6 sessions) your wrist feels normal, progress to more sets. Your wrist shouldn't ache during the exercise, but may ache afterward. It is from stress on the ligaments and tendons. If it is a small amount of aching, it is a sign that wrist strengthening is occurring. If it is too much aching, do less work- lower weight, or fewer repetitions or sets. It may take months for the aching to disappear- ligaments and tendons are slower to strengthen than muscles. When the aching disappears, you can move the workload up.

Extra words and/or phrases, passive voice, or long, unnecessary descriptions weakens writing. We all need to write tight. I submitted part of my mystery/suspense novel in one of the workshops. I thought I had everything as tight as possible. The man positioned his power chair at the end of the parallel bars in the therapy room. Over the past months, those bars had become an enemy that could not be conquered, but which created agony and despair. He glared at his enemy as they silently waited to conquer him again. An orderly in white waited beside the left side of the bars. Martin Rogers scowled as he struggled to his feet and pushed against the arms of the chair. By the time he stood gripping each bar, his face dripped with perspiration, and he could smell his own sweat and fear. A bolt of pain shot from both of his legs into his back.

This interaction results in more people being involved in an abundant number of relationships through technology. These social networking sites open up numerous connections with other people and information.Unfortunately, social media has negatively effected these interactions, leading to a loss Of authentic dialogue, a change in the way people perceive each other, and an Increase in cyber bullying. Don't use plagiarized sources. To begin, social media has caused people to engage in face-to-face contact less often and hide their emotions behind their text messages. In the workplace, the use of electronic communication has overtaken face-to-face and voice-to- voice communication by a wide margin. This major shift has been driven by two major forces: the geographic dispersion of business, and the lack of comfort with traditional interpersonal communication among a growing segment of our employee population: Gene Y and Millennial. Studies show that these generations - which will comprise more than 50% of the workforce by 2020 - would prefer to use instant messaging or other social media rather than stop by an office and talk with someone. This new communication preference is one of the “generational gaps” plaguing organizations as Boomers try to manage to a new set of expectations and norms in their younger employees, and vice versa. With these trends, business managers must consider the impact on business relationships and the ability to elaborate effectively, build trust, and create employee engagement (Adoration 3). According to Paul Booth, PhD, an assistant professor of media and cinema studies in the College of Communication at Default University in Chicago, social media certainly affects how we engage with one another across all venues and ages. He says, “There has been a shift in the way we communicate; rather than face-to-face interaction, we’re tending to prefer mediated communication.

click to find out more that, “We’d rather e-mail than meet; we’d rather text than talk on the phone” (Adoration 3). According to Booth, studies have shown that people actually are becoming more social and more interactive with others, but the style of that communication has changed so that we’re not meeting face-to-face as often as we used to. That said, our interactions on social media tend to be weak ties? ’t feel as personally connected to the people at the other end Of our communication as we do when we’re face-to-face.Booth says, “So while we’re communicating more, we may not necessarily be building relationships as strongly. ” All of this information shows that people do not build very deep legislations with others and interact on a more shallow level. Another concern is that social media has caused technology addiction, when individuals spend more time with their smartened than interacting with the people around them. Bowman says, “It may be the parent checking his or her e-mail during a family dinner or the young college student updating Twitter while on a first date. “For these people, they likely feel such a strong sense of identity online that they have some difficulty separating their virtual actions from their actual ones. ” (Keller 2). These quotes state that people have come so connected with their phones that they lose their own sense of self. These examples show how a part of ourselves lie in our cellophane and social media in defining who we are. Forbes.
