List of regions of Saudi Arabia

See more: https://maps123.net/en/SA

The States of Saudi Arabia, also known as Regions , and officially the Emirates of the States of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Arabic: إمارات مناطق المملكة العربية السعودية‎, romanized: Imārātu Manāṭiq al-Mamlakat il-'Arabiyyat il-Sa'udiyyah), are the 13 first-level administrative divisions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After the unification of Saudi Arabia, the kingdom was divided into seven administrative-territorial entities: the 'Asir Province, Al Hasa' Province, the Hejaz Province, the Najd Province, the Rub' al-Khali Province and the Shammar Province.

King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued Royal Order A/92 on March 2, 1992, known as the Regions' System, which provided for the division of the kingdom into 13 emirates. Subsequently, the five previous provinces were divided into thirteen geographic regions, called provinces (manātiq) and administrative regions, called the emirates of the provinces. (imārāt al-manātiq). The emirates form the first-level administrative division of the Organization of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and are further divided into 136 governorates, which are the second-level division.

List of regions of Serbia

See more: https://maps123.net/en/RS

The regions of Serbia include geographical and, to a lesser extent, traditional and historical areas. Geographical regions have no official status, though some of them serve as a basis for the second-level administrative divisions of Serbia, okrugs (districts of Serbia). Not being administratively defined, the boundaries of the regions are in many cases vague: they may overlap, and various geographers and publications may delineate them differently, not just in the sense of regions' extents, but also in the sense as to whether they form separate geographical entities or subsist as parts of other super-regions, etc.

For the most part, regions correspond to the valleys or to the watershed-areas of rivers and were simply named after them (some even a millennium ago), while mountain ridges and peaks often mark boundaries. In some cases, a defined region may refer only to the inhabited parts of the valleys (see župa).

List of regions of Czechia

See more: https://maps123.net/en/CZ

In 1960, Czechoslovakia was re-divided into districts (okres, plural okresy) often without regard to traditional division and local relationships. In the area of the Czech Republic, there were 75 districts; a 76th Jeseník District was split in the 1990s from Šumperk District. Three consisted only of statutory cities (statutární města, sing. město) Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň which gained the status of districts only in 1971; the capital city of Prague (Hlavní město Praha) had a special status, but ten districts of Prague (obvody) were in some ways equivalent to okres.

A reform in effect since January 2003 replaced the districts with 204 Municipalities with Extended Competence (obce s rozšířenou působností; also obce III. stupně - third-level municipalities, unofficially also called "little districts" (Czech: malé okresy) which took over most of the administration of the former district authorities. Some of these are further divided between Municipalities with Commissioned Local Authority (obce s pověřeným obecním úřadem, shortened to pověřená obec, pl. pověřené obce; "second-level municipalities").

List of regions of Croatia

See more: https://maps123.net/en/HR

The Republic of Croatia is administratively organised into twenty counties, and is also traditionally divided into four historical and cultural regions: Croatia proper, Dalmatia, Slavonia, and Istria.[1] These are further divided into other, smaller regions.

There are the regions you've heard of--Dalmatia, Istria, Slavonia, Kvarner--and then the "official" regions you might never have heard of that correspond with Croatia's administrative divisions. They are called "zupanijas", best translated as "counties". Loosely tracing the outlines of Croatia's historical divisions, these counties have subtly different cultures with variations in their traditional music, dance, costumes and cuisine. Exploring these "micro-cultures" is part of what makes Croatia such a fascinating destination.

List of regions of Morocco

See more: https://maps123.net/en/MA

Regions are currently the highest administrative divisions in Morocco.

Since 2015, Morocco officially administers 12 regions, including one that lies completely within the disputed territory of Western Sahara and two that lie partially within it. The regions are subdivided into a total of 75 second-order administrative divisions, which are prefectures and provinces.

A region is governed by a directly elected regional council. The president of the council is responsible for carrying out the council's decisions. Prior to the 2011 constitutional reforms, this was the responsibility of the Wali, the representative of the central government appointed by the King, who now plays a supporting role in the administration of the region.

List of regions of Turkey

See more: https://maps123.net/en/TR

The geographical regions of Turkey comprise seven regions (Turkish: bölge) which were originally defined at the country's First Geography Congress in 1941.[1] These seven regions are subdivided into twenty one sections (Turkish: bölüm), which are further split into numerous areas (Turkish: yöre) as defined by microclimate and bounded by local geographic formations.

"Regions" as defined in this context are merely for geographic, demographic, and economic purposes, and do not refer to an administrative division.

List of regions of Bulgaria

Bulgaria began the 20th century as a tributary principality of the Ottoman Empire. It consisted of Bulgaria proper and Eastern Rumelia. On 1908-10-05 it became an independent kingdom.

In 1913, as a result of the First Balkan War, Bulgaria acquired territory from the Ottoman Empire in what is now southern Bulgaria, Greek Thrace, and a small part of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. In the northeast, however, it ceded territory around Bazargic (Dobitsch) to Romania. In 1915, it acquired another small slice of the Ottoman Empire around Orestias and Dimotika, now in Greece.

In the Peace of Sèvres (1920), Bulgaria lost part of Thrace to Greece. The Peace of Lausanne (1923) gave more of Thrace to Greece, resulting in the present-day border between Bulgaria and Greece. The Treaty of Craiova (1940-09-08) transferred Durostor (Silistra) and Caliacra (Tolbukhin) provinces (together known as Southern Dobruja) from Romania to Bulgaria.

After World War II, the peace treaty restored Bulgaria to its borders of 1941-01-01, canceling out its conquests in Thrace and southern Yugoslavia. In a referendum, voters chose to end the monarchy and form a republic. The first general election went to the Communists

List of regions of Ecuador

List of regions of Ecuador

Ecuador has four distinct regions — the Pacific Coast, Galápagos Islands, Andes Mountains, and Amazon Jungle. The regions are fairly close to one another, allowing visitors to travel from one region to another within a single day.

The Andes run down the middle of Ecuador, covering about a quarter of the country’s total land area. Two mountain ranges are included in this, with over 22 peaks higher than 13,800 feet (4,200 m). Many of these peaks are actually volcanoes formed from the collision of two tectonic plates – the Nazca Plate and American Plate – that are part of the Pacific “Rim of Fire.” There are around eight active volcanoes in Ecuador today. Sangay is one of the world’s most active volcanoes, and Cotopaxi is one of the world’s tallest active volcanoes.

Basins spread out between the mountains, often at elevations around 7,000 feet (2,100 m). Many of Ecuador’s main cities are set within these basins, including Quito. The hillsides are farmed and eventually give way to forests and more barren, rocky mountaintops.

List of regions of Slovakia

List of regions of Slovakia

Since 1949 (except 1990–1996), Slovakia has been divided into a number of kraje (singular kraj; usually translated as "Regions" with capital R).[1] Their number, borders and functions have been changed several times. There are currently eight regions of Slovakia and they correspond to the EU's NUTS 3 level of local administrative units. Each kraj consists of okresy (counties or districts). There are currently 79 districts.

See more: https://maps123.net/en/SK

Since 2002, Slovakia is divided into 8 samosprávne kraje (self-governing regions), which are called by the Constitution vyššie územné celky (Higher Territorial Units), abbr. VÚC. The territory and borders of the self-governing regions are identical with the territory and borders of the kraje. Therefore, the word "kraj" can be replaced by "VÚC" or "samosprávny kraj" in each case in the above list. The main difference is that organs of samosprávne kraje are self-governing, with an elected chairperson and assembly, while the organs of kraje are appointed by the government.

List of regions of Costa Rica

List of regions of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is named after one coast but of course has two, the Pacific and the Caribbean. These two coasts are as different from each other as are the East and West coasts of North America.

Costa Rica’s Pacific coast is the most extensive, and is characterized by a rugged though mostly accessible coastline where forested mountains often meet the sea. It can be divided into four regions: Guanacaste, the Nicoya Peninsula, the Central Coast, and the Southern Coast. There are some spectacular stretches of coastline, and most of the country’s top beaches are here, as well as some of the best national parks. This coast varies from the dry, sunny climate of the northwest to the hot, humid rainforests of the south.

The Caribbean coast can be divided into two roughly equal stretches. The remote northeast coastline is a vast flat plain laced with rivers and covered with rainforest; it is accessible only by boat or small plane. Farther south, along the stretch of coast accessible by car, are uncrowded beaches and coral reefs.

List of regions of Taiwan

List of regions of Taiwan

Taiwan belonged to Japan in 1900, as a spoil of the Sino-Japanese War of 1895. When World War II ended, Taiwan returned to Chinese rule. As Communists extended their control throughout mainland China, the Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-Shek retreated to Taiwan. At present, the position of most governments and international organizations is that there is only one China.

The open question is whether its legitimate government is the People's Republic of China (PRC) in Beijing, or the Republic of China (ROC) in Taipei. According to the ROC government, the provinces of China still stand as they did in 1949. The province which the ROC calls Fukien is the same as the one which the PRC, using Pinyin transcription, calls Fujian. However, in the listing below, only the area and population under the control of the ROC are shown.

REGIONS OF PANAMA

Пятница, 16 Апреля 2021 г. 06:00 + в цитатник

REGIONS OF PANAMA

Panamá is usually seperated into nine provinces and two territories.

The provinces are : Panamá, Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Coclé, Colón, Darién, Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas. There are also two independent territories: Ngöbe-Buglé and Kuna Yala (San Blas Islands)

The politically seperated provinces are normally not very important for travelling through the country. Therefore we have seperated Panama in 5 travel regions, which we recommend you should visit.

Panama can be divided in 5 regions:

- Panama–City: Including the panama-canal, although it also reaches the Caribbean cost.

- The central Caribbean: The beginning of the canal and province capital Colón. In the south of Colón are beautiful beaches.

- The central Pacific: Not too far from the capital, the central pacific coast passes over to the south-west into the peninsula Azuero.

- West-Panama: Is consisted of the provinces Veraguas, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro. West-panama adjoins to the border of Costa Rica.

- East-Panama: The east encloses the wild province Darién, which reaches to the border of Columbia.

The most important cities of panama are listed below, you can find more information about them at each chapter of the region.
