- Commenting on the renewed intreast of artist owning their masters, US weekly compiled a list.

1.Rihanna- Aquired the masters to all her previous albums after finishing her Def Jam contract.


- U2- U2's former manger told the Irish times in 2014 that the band owned 100 percent of their masters and copyrights.

- Jay-z- Demanded control of his Def Jam masters when he became president of the label in 2004.

- Garth Brooks- "We wern't any good to a record label" Brooks said in why he did not partner with any major label. "We owned our own masters and record labels make their money off of streaming masters. So even if we would have streamed they would not have gotten any money.
