HBO has released a new look at Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons in Love and Death. Olsen plays Candy Montgomery who in real life was accused of murdering Betty Gore, the wife of her lover, after she hacked her to death with an axe. Gore’s baby was left alone in their crib for hours. Montgomery claimed self defense and was acquitted. Plemons is playing the man she had an affair with.

Priscilla Presley has marked Lisa Marie’s 55th birthday by announcing that she wants to keep her family together. In a statement to People, she said:

"Today would have been Lisa's 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together. From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I've protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son. Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter. We truly love all of you, and we feel your prayers. Thank you so much for caring so deeply for our family."

Priscilla is currently contesting the “authenticity and validity” of daughter Lisa Marie's will after a 2016 amendment removed her as co-trustee and inserted her adult children. Lisa's daughter Riley Keough is now sole trustee of the trust after brother Benjamin's death in 2020.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Priscilla's son Navarone got a nice little feature about his life and music career in People on his sister's birthday.

In related news, Joel Weinshanker, a Managing Partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, spoke about Lisa Marie’s wishes during an appearance on SiriusXM's Elvis Radio in honor of her birthday.

"When Elvis passed away, he left everything to his little girl. He did so knowing that she would be the one to keep his legacy going," Joel said. "I can tell you that she has, without falter, no matter what else was happening in her life, in her career, always been the one to look at what was best for Elvis... regardless of what somebody else was trying to do, regardless of what another family member [was trying to] do."

"Lisa couldn't be bought. She couldn't be pushed," he continued. "If she thought something wasn't in Elvis' best interest, it was never about money. She really is the only Presley that you can ever say that about."

Joel additionally stated that Lisa Marie was "very, very quite certain and quite direct about who she wanted to have the legacy [left] to," something he said she discussed with him "many, many times."

"That was always Riley and Ben. There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it exactly the way she did. Obviously, when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley," he said. "Although Riley is a movie star, she's an award-winning director, she had always had an interest and had always known that, one day, she would be in charge of [things]."

"Obviously, it's much, much sooner than we would ever hope for. But on Lisa's birthday, we just want to think about what Lisa would've wanted and that's what's best for Elvis. She never had a doubt in her mind that that's Riley," Joel added. "There's no question on anyone's mind [because] Lisa had spoken [about] it, there's numerous amounts of written information, she had talked to so many of her friends about it. There was never a question, and anybody who's speaking differently isn't looking out for Elvis, isn't looking out for Lisa, certainly isn't looking out for Riley."

Joel continued by revealing that his decision to speak out came when he realized that "sometimes you just gotta take a stand."

"It's Riley. It's what Lisa would've wanted. It's what makes sense. It always comes back to what's best for Elvis and that's what that is," he said. "... I think what we need to do on her birthday is honor her words. Those were her words, not mine, and it's something that we all want to think about going forward... What we need to do is we need to honor the ones that honor Elvis, and that was always, always his daughter, Lisa."

Jessica Simpson is sharing intimate details of her past in her Movie Star: They Always Say They’re Single essay — including an infamous affair she had with an unnamed movie star.

Clues:

-the “hot” mystery A-lister “eyed [her] up and down” at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.

“He was undressing me with his eyes,” Simpson told readers.

The pair quickly hit it off as the “Take My Breath Away” singer navigated one of her breakups from ex-husband Nick Lachey. (Simpson and Lachey, 49, were married between 2002 and 2006 after an on-and-off romance.)

-Jessica got the man’s number, she ultimately reconciled with Lachey, 49, and did not call.

However, the “Newlyweds” alums divorced in 2006, and Simpson subsequently shared a kiss with the unnamed movie star at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

She later ran into him again at the gym in Los Angeles. There, she invited him to star in one of her upcoming music videos.

“‘You could be my lead guy,’ I offered to this man who made millions and millions per film,” she claimed in Wednesday’s essay.

NBC’s ‘La Brea’ Likely To End With Abbreviated Season 3 As Networks Start Building Strike Contingency https://t.co/c63xZDEG6S

The season 3 pickup is for six episodes and that it was influenced by the possibility of a writers and/or directors and actors strike, with this likely being the show’s final chapter. Filming is slated to begin in March in Australia.

WGA contract is expiring May 1 and the DGA and SAG-AFTRA contracts up June 30, a potential work stoppage could impact the start of production on the new broadcast season.


NBC approached the cast of La Brea about doing a short third season.
The series regulars have a 10-episode minimum guarantee.
(they have to be paid at least 10 episodic fees a season regardless of how many episodes are produced)
They asked the cast to reduce their contractual minimum guarantees to six episodes.
In exchange, the actors were offered a release from the show after Season 3, which they took.
The actors are available to take other jobs. (typical broadcast series regular contract is for 6 seasons.)

La Brea would most likely end with Season 3.
There is a small chance that the show could continue beyond that with a new family played by a new cast.

Helena Bonham Carter said in a recent interview that Netflix’s “The Crown” should end now as it’s no longer a historical drama.

“I should be careful here too, but I don’t think they should carry on, actually,” Bonham Carter said. I’m in it and I loved my episodes, but it’s very different now. When ‘The Crown’ started it was a historic drama, and now it’s crashed into the present. But that’s up to them.”

Bonham Carter also turned down a question about Prince Harry’s buzzy new memoir, “Spare,” saying, “I don’t really want to contribute to the whole thing. It’s complicated and it’ll get taken out of context. And I think it’s been given enough attention.”

Back in 2021, Bonham Carter also came out against “The Crown” over whether Netflix should add a disclaimer to the series telling viewers it’s historical fiction. Recent seasons of the show have faced backlash and intense scrutiny from family and friends of the British royals for its dramatization of events, most notably the toxic marriage between Princess Diana and Prince Charles. There’s been an ongoing debate over adding a disclaimer to “The Crown.”

“It is dramatized,” Bonham Carter said on an official podcast for the series. “I do feel very strongly, because I think we have a moral responsibility to say, ‘Hang on guys, this is not… it’s not a drama-doc, we’re making a drama.’ So they are two different entities.”

The show is set to return for a sixth and planned final season that will cover the late 1990s and bring the show into the early 2000s.
