hello all! welcome to the new community dedicated to the pseudo-horror victorian-themed manga and anime, kuroshitsuji. as i'm sure everyone is aware, there was already a main community dedicated to it until only recently, but it was deleted due to (what was publicly states as) legal issues. we're hoping we won't meet the same fate, and will do everything in our power to prevent such a thing.
currently, there are only four mods:
newspaper,
unpure,
spacexat and
myself.
as of now, membership is open, but posting is moderated and automatically member locked. please do not be upset if your post is not accepted right away, as we are still getting a few things set up. :)
as for the community name, we're hoping to snag up
kuroshitsuji again as soon as it becomes available. rename acquired! :3 we are also hoping to have some spiffy graphics soon! :)
edit: it's been brought up that the purpose of this comm wasn't really clear. d'oh!
the purpose of this comm is mainly for discussion, news, speculation, etc. as
newspaper said:
"...everything else the old comm had is still going to be allowed - magazine scans, merchandise images, discussions, spoilers, OVAs, sales, reviews, news, basically anything that a US company does not, at this point, have rights to."
for now, we've worked out some basic rules, and it is highly suggested you read them:
01. no sharing of manga scanlations or anime fansubs.
this includes posting links to scanlation/sub teams' websites. on top of this, do not ask for them. the mods of the previous community have stated it was deleted due to legal reasons, and we can assume file sharing was the main qualm. if you are found breaking this rule, you will receive one warning. for a second offense, since apparently you don't know how to read or decided to simply ignore the pretty blinking text above, you will be banned. we absolutely will not tolerate illegal activity (yes, sharing works under copyright is illegal) nor will we condone it (hence no link sharing either.)
i can not stress how important this rule is enough.
edit: so far a few people have brought up that this new comm is pointless without illegal file sharing. to this i have to say i disagree. please excuse me while i drop my professional persona for a moment. if you do not want somewhere to discuss the series or find news on livejournal, okay, cool. consider this community pointless and don't bother joining. if you really need somewhere to download content, it's not that hard to find the original source. -shrug-
02. play nice.
this should really go without saying, but treat others as you would like to be treated. this is intended to be a haven for discussion and sharing of ideas and opinions, whether they be different from your own or not. if you are rude to another user, you will receive one warning. for a second offense, there will be a ban. it may seem like a ridiculously strict penalty, but then again not so much when you consider that it's not difficult to be civil to one another. for the record, watch how passive aggressive you are. it counts.
03. no fanworks.
there is a community specifically dedicated to fanworks already:
phantomhive. as the original main community and
phantomhive were separate, we feel it would be best to continue that way. (it turned out to be a good thing, considering all the fanworks archived on phantomhive were not deleted along with the main community.) in case there are any questions, fanworks comprise of fanart, fanfiction, icons, etc. pretty much, if it is not official content, it is a fanwork and not appropriate here. if you post a fanwork here, it will be removed, and you will be asked to repost it on
phantomhive. if you are in doubt on whether content is appropriate, ask one of the mods, we don't bite. :)
04. no intro posts.
they do not bring content relevant to the community's purpose, and often clog friends lists. we can assure you you will still be able to get to know people and make friends without intro posts. the only exception to this is if and when a new mod is selected, in that case they will make a post so you may recognize who they are.
05. spoilers go under a cut.
this is self-explanatory. if you do not know how to make an lj-cut, this helpful kitty will show you.
06. about merchandise posts...
only official merchandise is allowed. (it would be totally hypocritical to not allow illegal file sharing but to allow illegal bootlegging.) we understand you yourself may not know a piece of merchandise is not legit (such as with those false nendoroids floating around) and in these instances you will be notified that that is why your post was denied given one of us mods can tell the difference. on top of this, no more than one post advertizing merchandise will be allowed for every two weeks. you may have a single image no more than 300x300 in size as a header, to give users a visual idea of what you are selling. everything else goes under a descriptive cut or link to a personal sales post.
07. please tag posts accordingly.
we'll be needing to figure out tags now that we have a fresh start, but once they are set up, appropriate tags will be required for the convenience of other users.
now, since we are still technically in our production stage, i'll ask you members if there are any concerns or ideas you may have.
newspaper,
unpure,
spacexat and i will be responding accordingly and having council with each other to try and figure out the best fit for all the members of this community. if there's anything we missed or anything you may have a problem with, don't be afraid to let us know! any feedback would be of considerable help. :)
last but not least, i will be editing this post as new ideas pop up, so please check back occasionally in case something has changed. http://kuroshitsuji.livejournal.com/717.html
