Lokomotiv Yaroslavl goalie Egor Podomatskii is injured and won't beable to join Team Russia at the forthcoming Ceska Pojistovna Cup in the Czech Republic. The Cup is the first leg of a four-tournament EuroTour competition for European national teams; events in Sweden, Russia and Finland happen later in the season. In fact, Podomatskii might not be able to open the season in two weeks' time, Russian champion Lokomotiv said. Having broken a finger during last season's playoffs, the goalie played through it, but the injury flared up during the team's training camp in Slovakia, head coach Vladimir Vujtek said. Vujtek added club doctors have been monitoring the situation and are expected to decide soon whether Podomatskii's injury requires surgery. Last season, Podomatskii shared the Russian Superleague record of 14 shutouts in one season with Lada Togliatti's Canadian goalie, Mike Fountain.
