All players get paid in the playoffs - but it's not a lot.

All teams losing in the first round receive $50,000 to be split among the players

All teams losing in the 2nd round receive $100,000 to be split among the players

Both teams losing in the 3rd round receive $200,000 to be split among the players

The loser of the Stanley Cup Final receives $500,000 to be split among the players

The winner of the Stanley Cup receives $1,000,000 to be split among the players.

This is NHL money, and does not come from the owners.

This where teams have to make the decision of who gets a share, who gets partial shares, etc (The Mike Hartman rule).

In 1994, the NY Rangers voted Mike Gartner a partial share because of his contribution to the team before he weas traded to Toronto. The trade meant he was not eligible to have his name inscribed on the Cup
