Imagine the scene, it's a beautiful sunny crisp February morning, you're enjoying a quiet stroll in the countryside, your breath is forming a small cloud each time you exhale, and you feel a general sense of well-being as you start to notice the faintest smell, a delicious desirable familiar scent and you wonder, what does that remind me of?
You walk a bit further, the smell growing ever stronger and you ask yourself, what is that wonderful odour? You carry on, and as you get closer you hear it, a familiar sound, and you put two and two together, the sound, the smell, the unmistakeable sizzling and crackling, of bacon rashers, frying in a pan and you feel your stomach start to rumble. Someone walks around the corner just ahead of you, biting into a steaming hot delicious crispy bacon butty and your mouth waters and you think, I've just got to have one of those right now.
All very appetising, but what has this got to do with Web Design and SEO?
The point is a winning web site is a web site that will attract visitors from a distance, (SEO and promotion), and compel them to take action. Just like the delicious smell of bacon cooking draws you in from a distance, a well planned SEO strategy will draw in targeted prospects to your web site and well designed irresistible content will compel them to take action.
How can I get my website to smell like sizzling bacon?
Just like a delicious crispy bacon butty, it's all about the ingredients.
You will need a good quality website, by good quality I mean it should be well coded, beautiful to look at, user friendly, contain rich and original content and be a call to action for your customers.
You will need a well planned search engine optimisation strategy. This subject itself is a series of articles, but here are a few key points you need to consider.
Understanding your business objectives
You need to know what you want to achieve form your SEO. This gives you the opportunity to establish your goals and understand your business and its unique challenges.
Check your web site for code issues
One of the least obvious mentioned areas of SEO is poor web design. A web site may look wonderful on the surface, but if the code is poorly written or contains lots of redundant code, or the site lacks text, has duplicate content or just has poor quality content, all of these can have a devastating effect on your ranking.
Keyword research
It is extremely important to understand the keywords and phrases that your customers are using. There are a variety of available tools to achieve this. In doing this kind of research you can target those keywords within your web site. We often find during this process keyword phrases that are used by our customers but not used by competitors. Always a bonus!
Detailed analysis of competition
Looking at your competitors web sites, especially those that rank at the top can provide valuable insights. For example, you can find out who links to them, what search phrases they are strong in (and which are they missing out on). It is always a good idea to know who your competition is and what they are doing!
Installation of site analytic tools
Site analytic tools show you how people found your site, what they searched for or where they clicked from and what pages looked at, how long they stayed and what route they took through your site. Obviously this information is valuable, it's valuable for measuring the whether or not your visitors are finding what they are looking for and whether they are taking action. Imagine you're investing in a Pay Per Click campaign, you really want to know if the visitors you have paid for actually bought something or got in touch.
Review/Create a linking plan
Search engines look at links like they are personal recommendations. If you have plenty of high quality links to your site, it is like having lots of people say "what a great company". It is how they differentiate between two similar competing web sites. Please note though, "high quality links", not all links are equal! We also weed out the ones that may be harming your site!
Creation of search engine sitemaps
Search engines use sitemaps to crawl your web site. That is not to say your website will not be crawled if you do not have one, but all of it will be crawled if you do. Search engines like sitemaps because it speeds up the process.
Creation of Robots File
Robot files tell search engine which pages to visit and which ones to ignore. Sometimes, especially if you have for some important reason duplicate content, it is a good idea to get search engine robots to ignore all but one of the duplicate pages. You do this with a robot.txt file.
Review of current authority
You're probably already an expert at what you do, but does your web site reflect that, and more importantly does it reflect it to the search engines. The more of an expert you are as assessed by the information on your web site, the more quality traffic and links you will receive, the more important your site will be perceived, the higher up the rankings you will go.
On page optimisation
You will need to optimise each page to make them a search engine friendly as possible for a particular key word set.
A review of available site statistics
If you check your existing site statistics and analytics (assuming you have some). There is usually a wealth of information available the you can use to boost your current rankings.
Regular written updates
Effective SEO is an ongoing process that needs to be monitored. If you are serious about generating more business through your website then you need a proper plan and a strategy and you need to know what is working and what isn't.
Content development and copy writing
Search engines are about providing high quality accurate responses to customer queries, they are about content. People are looking for answers, answers are found in quality content. Analyse your existing content, create blogs, and write articles so your site continuously grows with quality content. Be an expert.
Social media
Social media has expanded enormously over the past few years and cannot be ignored. It is now a massive potential market place and we have strategies for utilising this media.

Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature; Is it a death-knell on all established SEO techniques? What is it's apparent effect on Search engine optimization? How is it going to affect the SERPs (results page)? A colossal change has just been made by big G. Google could not have gotten better at what it does. It revolutionized the search engine all over again.
To the makers of Google, it is nothing short of the fairy-tale crystal ball where they can see everything happening around in the universe. Everyone online is sort of an open book to Google whether you want it or not. And just when you thought that Google already knows too much about people; about what they thought, what they dreamed, what they pursued, what they shopped, what they searched, Google comes up with another milestone idea to get people even more personal; the ability to promote, remove search results by every individual on the planet and add unique comments to any of your preferred result. Wow, so what if you decide to promote a website from 50th page to 1st page. And let's say you demote a top ranking result into oblivion, never to be seen on the 1st page again. So in one click did you just kill the hype and hoopla of search engine optimization?
Because the best of optimized pages could literally be gone out of your sight with this tool if you decided to have it so. And if it is really so, then this is the END OF THE WORLD. Is it the END of conventional SEO? Do i hear a pin-drop silence?
No need to panic yet. If you see the buttons then you must have noticed that they appear only when you are logged in to your Google account, and the reprise is that they only affect the results that you see, not what the world does. Do i hear a sigh of relief? If you want to skip my detailed analysis and description of this feature, you may straightaway read the conclusion at the bottom.
How does Google promote/remove actually work? A specific example.
To check the same, simply log in to your account, let's say you do a Google search for the keyword phrase "webkinz dollar store", and click on the promote button next to a result in a subsequent page. You will immediately see it magically go to the topmost SERP in the 1st page. If you click on 'promote' for another "webkinz dollar store" search result, it will move into the second place on the 1st page itself. You can move the second web page to the first position by clicking "promote" on it again. Now Log out and search again for the same keyword, you will see your selected pages dropping back to its original ranking position. Login again and you will notice your chosen pages are back to your promoted order. If you click remove on any of your promoted website, it will return to its previous place in your Google search results. But If you click remove randomly on any un-promoted website, it will be permanently removed from any results. Of course you can get it back to the search results by clicking on restore at the bottom. The results are associated with your Google account only so they will be constant across any computes of you account logs.
At first instance it is bound to give the webmasters a cold feet with the thought that Google has handed over the fate of search engine results to people and everything about SEO goes to the dumps. It convincingly looks like, as if now people are to alter, improvise the worldwide top results for each search term. But it certainly isn't the case. It's only for your own Google account, for your own personalized result page order. And it is important to know that every new search term will have entirely different promoted and removed results than the other.
I'm sure even the biggest of SEO experts, guides and critics must have lost their nerve for a second with their first experience with Google promote and remove feature just as much as I did. So the big question still remains, is this the end of our struggle and success with SEO? Is it really all up to searchers and surfers to decide the ranks of our web pages? Are we supposed to watch helplessly all the big and popular web pages get to the top, while the smaller ones vanishing away? Thank the stars that it isn't the case.
What is Google promote / remove system called?
It's called SearchWiki. SearchWiki lets users have their own order of promoted and removed results, and leave comments on specific links. Google thus remembers changes that are made by the account holder to the organic search results pages, and subsequent searches will then be displayed as per the user's customisations and notes. And most importantly, users will also have the option of seeing how other searchers have rated and reordered search results and view their notes as well, making search results a innovative community based initiative.
Who does searchwiki help?
In course of time, it will surely make a huge impact on how SEO affects a site in my opinion. Prior to this feature, a webmaster was the only individual who had an influence on the SEO aspects but now each and every Google user has the ability to decide where that site should be listed, making search engine results a different concept altogether. It may even revolutionize the idea or existing technology like browser bookmarks and RSS readership.
Customized search result page? Is it happening?
The way it stands now, it isn't a possibility e.g., a specific page could be pushed to the top result for everyone just by getting shoppers or enthusiasts to 'promote' that site a million times. Neither can your competitors outrank your site by clicking on removal link a thousand times.
Yes, you can now customize your search results with the organic rankings, deletions, leave notes against each page for future reference and see how other Google users have tailored their searches. SearchWiki notes will be visible to other users, identified with your Google Account nickname.
What are the implications of Google searchwiki on SEO?
It is like an alarm bell for everyone to straighten up their act, specially thin affiliate sites, spammers or the ones resorting to black hat stuff. Yes sooner or later there will hardly be a scope for anyone to deviate even by an inch from the core of search engine fundamentals. That is relevance and accuracy.
Yes, many things will be affected from sales to delivery and reporting. SEO won't be dead but it will have evolved and more oriented towards content than techniques .
Google has been remarkable in preventing spam and this new tool on the prima-facie would not only generate more direct data for Google analysis but would also also initiate a mass spam removal movement worldwide. As far as promoted and removed data is concerned, Google obviously is wary of SEO masters using proxy servers running multiple alias sites and redirect pages and unethical methods that can easily used to promote a single page. Hence they will never make a mistake of simply considering all the votes gained for a page to it's ranking algorithm for organic searches without due verification. All of this will give Google a whole new perspective to search user habit and patterns by allowing the user to mix and alter the organic results itself. Unthinkable but true that it is already happening.
What if Google decides to apply the promotional and removal data to page ranks? Dooms day?
Top 10 ranking results will be flooded with the sites that the majority of people prefer. The hottest and most popular existing pages will fill up the top slots overnight, for every imaginable keyword search phrase. The scope for newer, smaller, unpopular websites will virtually perish with no place in the top noticeable positions. As a result it will hardly ever gain a promotion. And slowly it will stand as good as removed even if it is not.
It might be great to force people to look at the most popular websites, but the small ones which are less marketed or are comparatively of less value or quality will never stand a chance. Lesser traffic can never be the final diagnostic indicator.
But look at this from the perspective of a person who's looking to find something out. If I need to learn about the "webkinz dollar store", I don't frankly care whether that comes from a small blog or a an unknown forum page, as long as I find the info I need, and its reliable. And I can always find them right where i need from anywhere in the world.
For those concerned about SEO.
The agony or the anxiety about it's effect on SEO and rankings could be erased in a second just by reminding ourselves of the one and only governing factor about search engines, that their existence itself depends and will always be on it's ability to offer accurate and relevant information to the users and not anybody else. Even searchwiki, this new Google tool is intended with no other intent but relevance. Isn't it so common find relevant content even after page 10 at times? ( I don't know about you, but I do search deep when I need information ). In such a case one would either bookmark that page or copy the content for future reference. I always sympathize with quality web pages nowhere near to the top ranking positions. That proves that just great content alone can not guarantee top ten results. A multitude of factors like SEO, backlinks, sandbox are responsible to drive a page to the top. And the process itself is slow.
Relevance will now be "of the search (Google), by the search (Google) and for the search (Google)." Sounds quite like a democratic definition of a search engine.
Not so long ago when webmasters saw the immense potential in harnessing people's bookmarking habits, the craze of social bookmarking sites diggs, del.ico.us erupted overnight giving search relevance a completely relative meaning.
Things will now change. What better to bookmark a page from within the searches in just one click with no further accounts to log in to.
Backlinks and quality links are still the driving forces behind a websites rise or fall. It is equated as votes earned from other sites. As far as Google's stand point is concerned, a natural promotion of a webpage from different un-suspicious IP addresses can count as votes of relevance for a search phrase.
Scientists are maybe still trying to unify the forces of nature into one formulae, but looks like Google almost successfully unified the world.
Welcome to Google monopoly. Look how it gets bigger by the day.
One Account: Where your world converges.
(Oh if you haven't got a Google account yet. You will be compelled to have one sooner or later)
One Search Engine: The keyword manufacturing unit. Keyword demand supply chain. Unlimited Manpower at work for the biggest keyword market. From where internet business and ecommerce are governed.
One Search Tool (External keywords tool) : Manufactured keywords put on window display. Who does have a better authority to declare than Google itself, about what people are exactly searching for? Take it or leave it.
One Traffic Estimator: (Google lets you judge the cost of your keyword too) Window shopping for keywords.
One AdWords: OK so interested parties can shop for keywords from the keyword store.
One AdSense: Auctioned keywords recycled back to the people (searcher) working in the keyword factory.
One Webmaster Tools: The manufacturers of keyword money are now the safekeepers of all your keyword rich belongings.
One Analytics: Realtime live tv telecasting keyword news to keep the buyers and sellers interested.
One Web history: Refined fuel for the keyword engine machinery. Everyone's web habit and online track records are well kept with Google. They exactly know geo-specific, cultural specific keyword needs. Well who better to assign a price-tag to a keyword up for auction?
One Homepage (iGoogle): If all these have become second nature to you, then iGoogle is the way to stay hooked. You will get a handful on your finger tips.
And Now Google searchwiki: Google taking control of what you thought is best for you.
It is like, you have helped manufacture some great and moderate keywords so far, so why don't you manufacture some great result pages with your click votes too. After all there are a free gazillion keyword workers (search engine users) in the factory (Google) at any given point in time. Keep working a bit extra and Google shall know what exactly the gazillion wants to see or not see. The fairytale crystal ball is for real now.
Where do you stand? Your best kept secrets are the best resources to the Google rulers. Google knows what buyers want, what sells most. Google knows what sellers want, what buyers are willing to pay, how much are they willing to pay for, where do best buyers come from and the sellers too. The world wide web is not so entangled for the big G anymore. They conquered the world faster than Alexander.
Everyone's Top 10 Pages will look different for the same search phrase. Scary to even think about it.
Google has gotten perfect at eradicating it's imperfections. And if you thought you had a reason to point a finger at them due to erroneous relevant results, they gave the baton to you to improvise. Google may use 20 million algorithms in a millisecond to offer what is relevant. But now they will have a gazillion more from an entire planet to vote for and review their own definition of relevant searches.
Conclusion.
What are the future projections and it's impact on SEO practices?
1. Analysis of top ten projections and reporting is likely to change based on a world consensus.
2. The definitions for pagerank and rankings for single phrases and e-commerce variables could change. If a considerable number of people are not seeing a particular result in the first pages because they have it custom configured for a particular phrase with pre-selected results crowding the top, then definitely there would be lesser click-throughs as even the top sites will be pushed back further. Thus resulting in lesser visitor count for subsequent pages and affecting pagerank algorithms.
3. Marketers and SEO experts will have to look at a bigger picture than being obsessed with pagerank and rankings for single phrases.
4. Google AdWords will become more eminent as an assured method for topping the results with paid rankings, even if the user's result page is highly customized. This means more revenues for Google.
5. When everyone starts to promote their favorite sites, the quality of content will definitely become even more undeniable (as it should be), and "classic" SEO techniques will need a complete re-orientation.
6. Marketers and SEO industry now thriving on Google, will be more proactive on Yahoo, Quil etc as alternative options.
7. Since this feature is only for Google user accounts. As of now the page rank and result pages outside logged Google accounts will very much be based on the organic SERPs. Especially given the fact that yahoo still owns more account user bases than Google. But eventually they will dominate even more with search engine market share, because of their unlimited customizable features.
8. As this Search Wiki tweak can be highly prone to spams, we won't really see any sea change in the PR status radically soon until the rest of the planet not on Google account register and start using the feature.
9. Analytics will be even more laser focussed. Google will harness immense amount of personalized data and use them to improve relevance of results. You now will have to option to know your promotion vs removal ratio for every indexed page. You will soon know your popularity rank as much as your PR rank.
10. You will soon be presented with realtime reviews on your web pages moderated or not moderated by Google.
11. Websites with genuine content and relevance will now be a super must to even fair anywhere near.
12. SEO will spell "Authority pages" more than "Optimized pages".
13. Survival of the fittest will be the new Google theory.
14. All onsite testimonials and reviews on products, services often clinically engineered or manipulated will matter less because you will have realtime online reviews even before you land on that page. (Google comment feature = Realtime reviews)
Millions of webmasters and people must still be biting their nails, trying to figure out what is wrong or right with our big Google. How is it likely to affect the already established businesses, websites and SEO? But I hope this article gives you enough insight about our fate or growth on Google in near future.
Another search engine revolution has begun with Google Promote, Remove and Comment Feature. Are you ready for the change?

Every body who is related to or works within the link building industry will know about the issue about buying text links and other forms of links to improve your pagerank and listings within the serp's.
If you do not know then I will explain Google has started to impede the websites that are selling link ads, high pagerank directories and other websites that are in effect helping to manipulate the results in the serp's. For sometime now (until recently that is) it was possible to purchase very high pagerank links by using not your company name but your actual keyword as the link (known as Anchor text) This proves very effective for getting your website to the top of the SE's and for this reason Google has started to penalise websites that sell these links. So over the last 2 pagerank updates we have seen a large decline in high PR directories some lost there pagerank all together and others were reduced from scores of 6 out of 10 to 3 and 4 out of 10 and so on.
In some ways this is a very good method for making a level playing field in the world of SEO. The main problem now for many SEO companies is where they are able to get there links from. Many SEO companies used to charge their clients a large fee in which some of that money was used to purchase high pagerank links. Now they are stuck because these links are slowly being eradicated and not only that if you do reside in purchasing links you are setting the site up for a chance where it could possibly become penalised along with the website that is selling the link.
The problem we all have is that the idea in regards to linking purposes is the fact that you are supposed to create a superb website with plenty of good content so people will link to your website because of the quality it offers. But let's put this to into perspective, I create the best website you have ever seen and daily add the best written content that has ever been written. Now then you know my website is high quality but I need relevant links, so let's say the most relevant links are ones in my own industry. But who in their right minds in my industry is going to link their websites to my own. They will then be in fear that my website will rank better than their own and that is definitely a big no to other websites as they do not want to create further competition.
The next problem, obviously then no one is likely to link to my website in my industry, so next I need to find websites that are the same theme. Again it is very unlikely they are going to link their website to mine without something in return no matter how impressive my site is. So we have to look at other methods of being able to get relevant links. The next method without purchasing links is to trade links through the form of a reciprocal link. Although reciprocal links do not provide as much wait in value to websites as a backward link they are still a good way of getting a good relevant link. But again Google through its godliness has decided that again reciprocal links are not correct for their search engine and now I have seen many websites links pages become grey barred and have no visible pagerank. So in reality the most fundamental method that is supposed to gain you good links through my impressive website will not come into effect, also I cannot reciprocate with relevant websites, I cannot purchase links so where do I go next?
Although this issue is a pressing issue there are still many other methods such as Blogs, Articles, Social bookmarking and many more methods that can are effective at getting you good rankings. The problem is though how long will these methods be effective with Google deeming that many of these aspects of link building are incorrect and will be soon become outlawed by Google.

Small businesses engage in SEO in the hopes of building up their profile and increasing their sales. However, because these businesses are often less informed about how SEO works and what the best practices are, they tend to fall short and commit serious mistakes that end up negatively affecting their website and their business. These mistakes range from having simple domain issues to committing ethical blunders. If you are not completely acquainted with SEO yourself, take note of the following mistakes that you can definitely avoid.
Getting Free Domains
Most people online fall for the promise of freebies, which are becoming more and more common these days. This is completely understandable behavior especially for new business owners, because getting free stuff helps cut down expenses. The problem is that using free things for your business can impact your reputation. A good example of this is using free website domains.
Having your own domain is a sign of independence and authenticity. It also gives your website a better reputation and makes your online business more legitimate. Another important advantage of an independent domain is its high standing with search engines. If your site has its own domain, search engines will give it a higher priority than other websites. In many cases, sites that do not have their own domains are ignored by search engines and tend to rank low in the results page. So if you're in the business of SEO, it's best to pay for your own domain.
Poor Site Content
In SEO, content is truly king. The success of the campaign can rely on your content, so it should always be of great quality. The goal is to build up your site's reputation, and you simply cannot achieve this if the content you create is done in poor taste. Many small businesses fail to recognize this function of SEO, and so they end up posting subpar content, without realizing that this can actually harm their website. When search engines detect the poor quality of your content, they may end up undermining your website and giving it a low ranking.
Engaging in Unethical Practices
Oftentimes, uninitiated business owners are the ones that go into the dark side of SEO. Unethical SEO practices are commonly observed among small business owners who do not know any better. Because they know little about this marketing strategy, they are often ignorant about the consequences of unethical SEO tactics, which can be as dire as getting banned from search engine databases. Small business owners are also more eager to receive traffic and attract potential customers. This makes them vulnerable to the appealing prospect of unethical practices.

Elements Necessary In Order to Achieve Domain Trust
Organic search results, or natural search results, originating in the Search Engine Results Pages are partially influenced by a number of factors not directly associated with web site content visible to humans through web browsers (eg. the on-page viewable content). These factors have to do with attributes associated with recognized authority or Domain Trust. For pay-per-click marketing these same factors are irrelevant as it amounts to paid advertising and is thus not dependent upon search engines for retrieval of results for a particular topic searched upon.
- It is preferable to have an Aged Domain. Domain age has to do with how many months a particular domain has been active and registered. It is good practice to move your domain expiration date out three to five years to indicate long-term commitment. An aged domain is a benefit to you versus newly registered domains.
- Having your domain registered by the same Domain Ownership Registrant over a longer period of time is a positive domain ranking factor versus the domain changing ownership.
- Link Popularity or Quantity of Back Links pointing to a given site is a necessary element to achieve top rankings. All things being equal, higher link popularity is better as long as the sources of the inbound links are legitimate.
- Authority of the Back links Pointing to the Domain is also important. The link reputation or quality of the inbound linking websites to your business site should be examined for worthiness. Undesirable spam web page sources originating from Link Farms could get you site banned and therefore should be avoided in favor of higher quality linking partners such as pages with positive Google Page Rank (eg. PR2+).
- Aged Hyperlinks are preferable to recently acquired links. Incoming links pointing continuously towards your site over long periods of time are of higher value to the domain they are pointing towards as compared with more recently acquired inbound links. In addition, large volumes of hyperlinks acquired at a rapid pace can raise red flags and be interpreted as unnatural and contrived. Therefore, try to build incoming links gradually and consistently from link partners' sites that will permanently keep your link published.
- Server statistics on shared hosting accounts should be monitored regularly to identify bad sites hosted on the same server as your site. If your business is hosted on an unstable file server from a web hosting company that does not contain other spam prone sites it can be a problem and impediment to achieve top competitive rankings. It is well worth your time invested to help identify other webmasters on your same shared server that are abusing their hosting privileges.
- One hundred percent site up time performance is desired. Your site up time needs to be excellent from your web server in order to contribute towards positive domain ranking. If you're web site constantly experiences daily downtime and is not rendering pages for display in search engines when people visit your site, it could prevent successful page indexing and crawling. In the worst case your site could be filtered out in search engine algorithms and end up in the supplemental results index due to server downtime issues.
- Whois.sc data helps identify useful site statistics. Examine the Whois.sc domain tool site to look for facts provided in this public look up domain tool database registry. This resource provides leading indications of legitimacy and overall worthiness such an SEO score tool. Problems with any particular domain could be identified with this useful resource site.
- A diversified link profile is desired. Acquiring a wide variety of links from numerous legitimate sources leads to diversity which is better for domain trust and domain ranking. You do not want all of your inbound links originating from one type of source (eg. directories, blogs etc.) It is preferable to have your links not only indexed in the major search engines, but also indexed in other types of link sources such as blogs, social media marketing sites, paid and unpaid directories, article directories, profiles sites, local listings sites, the DMOZ directory, press releases, and public relations announcements distributions. Wider diversity leads to higher site visibility and search engine penetration.
- A physical address prominently displayed on your site is a good idea. It is good search engine optimization practice to publish your physical address or business address on your site and attach a Google Maps page for authenticity. This can help your domain trust and certainly helps you in the local search results.
- Publish lots of quality content pages versus filler pages. Large number of web pages that are published and indexed as legitimate content on the same web site should be your goal and helps with domain rank, versus a site that has only a few pages that are not well written, planned out, and organized for focus. The actual number of pages needed for high rankings will depend upon your query space overall competitiveness. Sites that have a high quantity of high quality pages that have achieved page rank will have higher domain trust which makes it easier to achieve rankings on newly published page content.
- Internet protocol address or IP address status should be identified. Is your business web site published on a dedicated or shared IP address? Dedicated IP addresses are preferred due to increased stability and accountability.
- Class C blocks should be noted. You want to attain a large variety of numerous Class C block IP addresses linking into your site, versus the majority of links coming from the exact same block or same server and host.
To compete for high search engine results pages (ie. SERP) rankings on competitive keywords, attention to a multitude of important details is necessary. The above small elements successfully implemented add up to a larger synergy and higher domain trust or domain rank, which is necessary for your web site to attain high rankings in search engine results pages and attract targeted visitors, search engine crawlers, and result in many ranked internal pages.

It is straight forward and simple to submit a web site for free to the search engines
and a task that can be done in a few minutes. However, there are plenty of
companies offering search engine submission services, these services re-submit your web
site to the search engines periodically for a given time period. It amazes me that
these services exist and amazes me more why people pay for them.
Google states on its web master pages that re-submitting your web site to the search engine does not make a difference to a sites
ranking or to how quickly the site appears in the rankings and from experience this is also
true in Yahoo! and MSN.
Why submit your site to the search engines?
Submitting your web site to the search engine will make your web site visible to its
robot. A search engine robot is a web spider that runs across the internet, indexing
web pages one at a time, following links it finds on other web pages. The submission
of your web site to the search engine will inform these robots to index your site. How
quickly the robot indexes your web site depends on the search engine, so no guarantees
can be made.
Once your web site has been indexed the search engine may rank your site relevant for
certain keywords it has picked up on, although these are not taken from your keywords meta data.
Again, this is not a guarantee and can take months (especially if it is Google) before your
site is visible to search engine users.
How do you know when your web site has been indexed?
The first indication of this can be seen in your web analysis tool, usually under the
section marked robots/spider visits. If you do not have such a tool, id recommend
installing AW Stats which is free and will accomplish most peoples needs, or you can
search through your web sites log files for the IP addresses of the search engine spiders.
The main IP addresses to look out for are:
Google - will be seen as Googlebot
Yahoo - will be seen as Inktomi Slurp
MSN - will be seen as MSNBot
For a more detailed list take a look at the web robots pages [http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/active/html/index.html]. Once
you have identified the robot visit to your web site, it is time to see if your web site has
been indexed. To do this you will need to go to the search engine and type in the
following command:
site:www.yoursite.com
Replace http://www.yoursite.com for the web address of your web site.
If the search engine returns your web site then it means you have been successfully added
to its index and can be found by search engine users. However, if your web site does not
appear be patient it may take a while.
How to improve the chances of being indexed?
It is possible although not guaranteed to speed up the inclusion of your web site to the
search engines by having their spiders find your web site before actually submitting your
web site to the engine. This can be done by having a web site that has already been
indexed link back to your web site.
This can be done in several ways, some are examples are to have your web site address as part
of your signature in a forum, or by having your web design company give you a link as part of
their portfolio.
In my experience this has helped considerably, and is always favorable to submitting a
web site manually to the search engines. Although, there is nothing wrong with manually
submitting your web site!
Is using a submission service bad for my web site?
This does depend on how the company submits your web site to the search engine. Search
engines have become good at distinguishing between manual submissions and bulk automated
submissions usually made from these types of services (sometimes having different URLs available),
normally when a search engine detects a bulk web site submission it will usually process them
slower than manual submissions.
What search engines should I submit to?
Be extremely wary of web sites that say they can submit your web site to 100s if not
1000s of search engines. The majority of these search engines will not provide you with
any traffic and the web site will likely sell on your email address.
You should submit your web site to the following search engines:
Google
Yahoo
MSN
Submitting your web site to these three search engines does not restrict your sites visibility
as can be seen by this web site detailing whom powers who where
submitting to these 3 actually submits your web site to many more.
Are there any other web sites my site should be submitted to?
In terms of providing your web site with the best possible start in life you should be
trying to submit your web site to the following sites:
Yahoo! Directory
Open directory project
Conclusion
Search engine submission is about making your web site visible to the search engine robots. This
can be done by manually submitting them to the search engine via their own
add site URL or from their robot finding you from another link. Search engine
submission services that re-submit your web site are in the end a waste of money.

If you follow our articles, you will know we regularly express the importance of creating high quality content.
This practice is not just a means of sharing information which will attract more followers and customers to your door. It is also a way of building up your authority within your own niche area. By showing potential customers your expertise through the content you create, you are positioning yourself as a leading voice and authority within your area of business or industry.
This article shares some ways you can present yourself as a knowledgeable expert, and exert your authority as a trusted professional online. We hope our suggestions will help you rise above the competition and separate yourself from the crowd.
We believe that by showing your professionalism in your field, you will be helping to build a solid relationship with your customers. They will be able to trust what you are selling if they can trust what you are saying. Because of this however, it is vitally important that you maintain the quality of your content. Any inaccuracies or lapses in professionalism could back fire seriously, and cause more damage than good.
The goal is to use your content to help you become more recognizable. This is obviously done using a strong brand, but it can also be done by creating a regular stream of content that answers readers' questions, highlights current issues within your industry, or provides hints and tips that will help your customers. Blogs and article sections on your website are an excellent way to do this. They will help you to build up your authority and over time, you will build up a following that will regularly check in to read what you have to say. If you need an example of this, think about Google's Matt Cutts. He has a huge following and through high quality, cutting edge content, he has become an authority, and a voice to be listened to on the internet.
Take time and carefully craft your content. Each article should have a clear message. It should be written using perfect grammar and spelling, in the language of your choice. We should say however, that in addition to posting your article in your native tongue, it is a good idea to post it in English, especially if you are hoping to attract an international clientele.
Collaboration with other experts in your field is another way to build authority. If you are seen to be creating interesting, fresh, and relevant content with other well-known names from your industry, it will lend credence and kudos to your name too. Guest blogging can also achieve this result, but exercise caution when guest blogging. Choose where your articles appear carefully, and maintain control of the content so you can maintain the quality. Partnership working has huge advantages, especially online, so consider teaming up with some leading lights within your industry to present a range of interesting and enlightening articles to your target customers. This tactic will also help you to gain respect from your peers, and that can lead to many exciting developments for your business.
Opinions vary, but we believe there is still value in a regular email newsletter, if it is quality! People will not relegate you to the Junk pile if your email arrives in a timely fashion, and contains information which will interest and inform them. The best way to pick up tips on how to produce an excellent email newsletter is to subscribe to a few from leading brands and companies, and have a look at what they are doing.
Make a note of the emails you read, the ones you ignore, and the ones that annoy or irritate you! Then, break these observations down into key points and actions that you can follow to improve your own newsletter. Sign up for the daily email newsletter from Mashable.com. They are masters at creating news and sharing news. You will pick up some fantastic tips from them.
Don't be afraid of video. Video is powerful content, and creating a well-produced piece of video footage does not have to cost a fortune. Today, we all have the ability to film, edit and upload a good quality video. Even simple PowerPoint slideshows can be turned into videos. Think about what you want to say, and how you can say it visually. Videos are attracting huge audiences, are popular items to share on social media, and can quickly become viral if the content is good.
Do you feel you could lead a webinar? Instead of being one of the attendees, why not consider holding one. You would be surprised how many people will sign up for a webinar if it is covering a specific subject they are interested in. Spend some time researching the webinars already being run for your industry. In the SEO and internet marketing industry, webinars are almost at saturation point! But there are many other businesses that could benefit from providing this service online. Consider how you could share your knowledge with others, and what you could teach them.
Have fun developing your content, building your voice, and your authority online. Over time it will have a positive effect on your following, your business, and your revenue.

Getting Google backlinks to your site is more important for your page rank than your outgoing links. You want high ranking sites to link to your page or site for Google SEO to sit up and take notice.
So how do you get them?
First... let's define "Backlinks" or "Incoming links."
Definition: Direct links to your websites through other sites. This is called Off-page SEO, or links from other websites back to yours to gain popularity with search engines.
Getting backlinks from sites that have high readership or ranking, are the sites you want to link to your site or pages.
Here are a few simple methods of how to get backlinks that are high in quality and will help to improve your page rank.
EzineArticles: EzineArticles get thousands of viewers a day visiting their site. They have extremely high Google page rank.
Write an article and have a link that points back to a page on your blog site. When a reader clicks the anchor text in your signature area, it then becomes a quality link coming from EzineArticles. This strategy is excellent for a new blog.
Squidoo: Build a simple Squidoo Lens and have it link to a page on your blog that contains similar information. Squidoo is an authority site that will help you improve your page rank backlinks.
HubPages: HubPages is much like EzineArticles. The incoming links to your blog will be high quality links. Tip: Use only original content in HubPages. You cannot re-purpose content from other sites or sources.
YouTube: Ahhh! One of my favorites! I have 28 videos that point to pages on a blog that I have in another niche. Videos have served me well in sending me high quality backlinks from other sites who have used one of my videos on their site.
Get busy and produce a video that you can point back to your site. Point an anchor text link in your description box back to your blog. When folks click on it, you will get a superior incoming link from YouTube.

Long tail keywords are multiphrase search queries, combination of three or more words, that visitors use in search engines to arrive at a website. Long-tail keywords are much more targeted than the general or main keyword topic, and they literally express the visitor's need for specific information.
The benefits of choosing long-tail keywords are that these keywords have high conversion rate, and they are easier to rank as competiton will be less for these keywords.
There are many free and paid keyword research tools available. But none of them really provide long-tail keywords related to a particular niche.
There is way to find out the hidden, long tail, highly profitable and high conversion rate keywords using Google Suggest. Here, I am going to explain you a methodology that Ifollow to find long-tail keywords.
Google Suggest: It is easy to find long tail keywords using Google suggest. Go togoogle.com. Make sure that you open google.com and not in regional Google website like google.co.uk.
Google Suggest analyzes what you're typing into the search box and offers relevant suggested search terms in real time. You can choose one of the suggested queries by moving up or down the list with the arrow keys or mouse.
For example, search with "dog beds". As you type, it gives you key phrases. You should see some key phrases that are not in our previous list like "dog beds for gaint danes.", "dog beds for gaint dogs." etcc
These are long-tail keywords.
Play around with it by typing slowly and going alphabetical.
Examples:
"dog beds a"
"dog beds for"
Make a list of all the keywords suiting to your niche.
Open Google suggestion tool and enter all the keywords you have noted before and find the monthly volume search. Make sure that you select "Match Type" as "Exact". This way you can find the hidden, highly profitable keywords using Google suggestion tool.
TIP: Choose the keywords that have a monthly volume search of a minimum of 1500. Create dedicated pages to these keywords and optimize them.

How Much Should You Expect to Pay for SEO Services |

https://brandstruplauridsen4.bladejournal.com/post...How-To-Find-Long-Tail-KeyWords
https://write.as/capiuqc1begp7
The answer to this question is that how much you pay for SEO services depends on several factors. First of all how big is your website and how do you think SEO can help? Secondly how much money can you afford to spend on SEO? Thirdly have you thought about what kind of SEO service your site needs?
The top notch SEO services charge top dollar because they employ staff which will include receptionist, cleaners and ancillary staff as well as SEO experts. They will have an office suite to maintain and pay for. These basic running costs will be passed on to clients in their fee structure. Their services are expensive because they want to limit their client-base to large high profile companies with which they can work on a continuous basis. The bigger the company, the greater the need for SEO services, especially when new products and services are launched. They will also employ staff to work on online reputation management, although this is a separate issue.
Such companies will charge in the region of $1,000 US an hour for consultation only. However if you approach a smaller concern, you will expect to pay between $40 and $50 per hour. For a review of your site plus a consultation prices begin at around $500 and go up to around $20K.
You can opt to take a series of SEO seminars, and depending whether they are held on your premises or those of the SEO service, you can be charged from $750 to $12,000 for a day. That is a way forward if you want to do your own SEO
Some companies will charge a monthly retainer for their continued services and this costs between $2,500 and $20,000 plus. This guarantees the service when you need it and some SEO services will charge much less if they do not work for you during a month.
SEO services might, if they are extremely confident in their abilities, offer you a package which is rather like a pay Per Click (PPC) one, in that they bill you for the amount of traffic that comes to your site after SEO work and for the climb your pages have in the Search Engine Rankings pages (SERPS) and a share of your sales revenue after they have done the initial SEO work for you. This is called Standard Profit Sharing and you will have to pay a relevantly small amount as a down payment. There is also a Modified Profit sharing package which is more like a pay per action deal, where they get a share of the revenue from sales and not money from traffic or place in the SERPS.
A keyword search package is probably the cheapest SEO service you can buy, starting at $100 and going up to $2,000 or thereabouts. If you want someone to edit your pages and add keywords and links, then you can expect to pay $2,000 at the lowest end of the scale, although if you shop around you may get a better price. A manual link-building campaign will typically cost you $500 at the lower end of the SEO service scale.
Basically you get what you pay for, but you can get good SEO services from smaller companies who have staff who are knowledgeable in the field and who have a good reputation, as they don't have the overheads of large concerns. The people who work in small SEO services are often people who have decided to go it lone after seeing what can be earned by the larger companies. They can offer you their services more cheaply because they want your business and are more concerned about paying off their mortgages early than with making megabucks. Don't discount the little firms, but do take care when choosing them.

Niche Keywords
It is common knowledge amongst search engine optimizers that finding "niche keywords" is fundamental in our quest to attract visitors to a website. There are many keyword suggestion tools that claim to find niche keywords but in practice they generate lists of keywords without any practical means or guidance for separating out the niche keywords for us. In this article "keywords" includes keyword phrases.
How do we define a niche keyword?
Surprisingly, there does not appear to have been even one serious attempt at a definition of a "niche keyword".
The following definition is recommended: A niche keyword is defined as having an above threshold search volume for the targeted locality of a website with potential for top ten positioning on the search engine results page (SERP) for that locality (country).
Locality
Although websites remain reachable from any location, the vast majority of websites are targeted at visitors within a country, state/county/province, or city/town. Only a minority of websites aim to provide information universally or seek sales internationally. Locality orientated searches form the fastest growing sector on the internet - currently estimated at 12%. A search that includes a locality has a better chance of converting on e-commerce and e-marketing websites.
When we seek niche keywords for locality based websites, we need data on the number of searches conducted for that locality and an assessment of the competition for the country specific search engines. The most popular search engine is Google. Examples of Google country specific search engines are Google.co.uk, Google.ca (Canada), Google.fr (France) and Google.jp (Japan). In addition to having the largest search database, and being free of charge, the Google keyword research tool has the advantage of providing both global and country specific monthly search volumes.
Threshold Search Volume
The threshold search volume that is acceptable for a website is dependent on its purpose.
A global information website might choose a threshold search volume of a thousand searches per month before it would consider creating a web page focused on a keyword.
A website seeking clients within a locality might consider the return on investment acceptable for developing a web page on a keyword with potential to attract even one additional client a month.
Top 10 Positioning on Search Engine Results Pages
Few searchers click on web pages positioned below the top ten on SERPs. Whereas 42% of searchers click on the number one positioned web page for a search, only 0.7% of searchers will click on the 11th positioned web page and 0.07% for the forty first positioned web page. Put another way, if the number one web page for a keyword receives 600 visitors, the 11th web page will receive 10 visitors and there will be just one click on the 41st. From an SEO point of view, a web page that cannot be positioned within the top ten positions for a keyword on the SERP will fail to bring much traffic.
Keyword Difficulty
Keyword difficulty is an assessment of the chance of positioning a web page within the top ten positions on a SERP for a keyword.
Competition
Traditionally competition has been evaluated mainly by the number of 'results' which is the number of competing web pages. The Keyword Effectiveness Index - KEI - is the most popular formula for identifying "effective" keywords. It incorporates keyword popularity data (P = number of searches) and the competition (C). The formula is P2/C.
Invariably a search will show at least hundreds of competing web pages (results) and often millions. Whilst the number of results will provide some indication of keyword difficulty, it is the strength of the top ten web pages compared to the potential strength of the page we can build on our website that will determine if our page can reach the top ten. The competitive strength of the top ten competing web pages for a keyword is not a direct function of the total number of competing web pages. The strength of the competition of the top 10 competing web pages for a keyword with only 10 thousand competitors will be far greater than 1,000th of the strength of the competition for a keyword with 10 million competitors.
From a search engine optimization perspective every web page should be optimized around one keyword.
From a web design point of view, we need to consider three types of web pages:
1. Pages that are required to cover the theme of the website but are based on keywords that are so competitive that they are unlikely to achieve top page positioning and therefore will not bring visitors to the website. For example, a holiday accommodation advertising website may produce an excellent page on "Italy". If it provides useful information, it will be appreciated by visitors who arrive on the website. High positioning on the SERPs for "Italy" is unlikely, however much effort you put into it, and this page will not bring visitors from the search engines.
2. Pages that are required to cover the theme of the website and are based on niche keywords and may bring visitors to the website - in practice there are unlikely to be many of these.
3. Pages that are not obviously required to cover the theme of the website but are developed around relevant niche keywords from a list of keywords initially generated by a keyword suggestion tool. The difficulty here is separating out the niche keywords from the full list. We need to focus our precious time and SEO efforts on the niche keywords where we can successfully compete.
How do we find the niche keywords from a list of keywords initially generated by a keyword suggestion tool?
In 2004, it was estimated that Google included 200 factors in its positioning algorithm. In 2009, many search optimization optimizers believe Google now uses more than 300 factors. It is unlikely that each of these factors carry equal weighting.
Using retro-analysis of top ten positioned web pages for numerous keyword searches, the author identified the most important, but underestimated, factor in the Google algorithm that determines positioning on SERPs (HomePage PageRank or G-Factor-I). It then became apparent that a second factor (G-Factor-II - a hidden boost to the effective PageRank of HomePages competing for a keyword) significantly influenced positioning.
Once aware of G-Factor-I, identification of niche keywords by manual analysis of a list of keywords generated by my favourite keyword suggestion tool proved to be prohibitively time consuming. For a list of 50 keywords, the G-Factor-I must be determined for each of the top 10 web pages - 500 calculations. A unique, purpose built program - Keyword SEO Pro - has been commissioned. No analysis is required for G-Factor-II.
The Most Important Question In Search Engine Optimization
The most frequently asked question that I am asked by web site owners is "How can I get my web pages to the top on the SERPs for my keywords?" My advice may surprise you: Take out the "How"!
You will then have the most important question web site owners and search engine optimizers should be asking:-
"Can I get my web pages to the top on the SERPs for my keywords?"
Using the combination of KeywordSEOPro to analyze for G-Factor-I for a list of keywords and by comparison with G-Factors-I and II for your own web pages, you will be able to identify your niche keywords and focus your SEO efforts appropriately. A more detailed explanation is provided on the website.
