The knife boasts a titanium-bonded 440 stainless steel blade with an extra non-stick coating, which ensures it stays sharp and durable, even when subjected to heavy use.

 

Every aspect of the knife serves a specific purpose. Its handle features black, grey, and bright green colors. The bright green hue, although not found in nature, makes it easy to spot if dropped in the brush. Additionally, the handle offers a wide, comfortable grip that works well for various activities such as chopping, whittling, cooking, and skinning game. The base of the handle sports a knurled steel pummel that's great for hammering or pounding.

 

The blade's spine comes with a small, semi-circular cutout that acts as a striker for the fire steel that comes with the sheath. Les understands that you wouldn't want to dull the blade in a survival situation, hence the cutout feature. It also serves as a foolproof design for the fire striker function of the knife.

 

The Ultimate Survival Knife in the Les Stroud knife series boasts the most robust sheath among its counterparts. This knife is the flagship product in the series and comes equipped with the most comprehensive survival kit.

 

Included in the kit is a fire steel, which is similar to the one found in the Bear Grylls Ultimate Survivor knife, but with a slightly different design. The fire steel is positioned on the left side of the sheath where the hilt meets the interior of the sheath. On the opposite side of the sheath, there is an LED flashlight that can prove to be very beneficial in case of an emergency, despite not being considered a traditional "survival tool".

 

In addition to these features, the sheath also has a signaling mirror located on the front of the sheath. Underneath the mirror, there is a section where you can easily wrap some para cord. The rope included in the kit is effective, but not true para cord, and can easily be replaced with some 550.

 

Lastly, the sheath comes with a ceramic blade sharpener that is straightforward and easy to use. This sharpener is a no-nonsense tool that will quickly and efficiently sharpen your knife whenever needed.
