How to make your garden bloom! |
With the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the RHS London Rose Show and a host of garden shows for the rest of the year - I personally look forward to the RHS London Christmas Show in December - this is definitely the time for you to enthrall for your garden! But if you're something like me, you look with respect at these wonderful creations and wonder how you can turn your garden into something like this.
I will not explain how to repeat the amazing poppy shelf, created by Philip Johnson or the British Garden of Eccentrics Diarmuid Gavin, which comes alive every 15 minutes - even if you understand how to do that, tell me! I just want to show you how easy it is to create a garden where you can not wait to go home.

Prepare your tools!
Be honest how much gardening did you do during the winter months? I know I did little. Garden tools, like the others, must be kept for any use. Enter your barn and clean all your tools; Sharpen your lawnmower, scissors and make sure your shovel, rip and other tools are in good condition before you start. Otherwise, replace them. If you take care of your garden tools, keep them in the barn, as we did, they should last a long time.
Do not eat more than you can chew
It's easy to look at your garden and think you want to change it completely, but if you hurry up, you may be disappointed and give up before it's over. Divide your garden into smaller, more manageable areas and do not go to the next one until you have finished making the garden a lot easier.
Earth, earth, earth!
I do not need to tell you that the soil is one of the most important elements of the transformation of your garden. However, you can not just dig directly into the soil and prefer your soil. I will not lie, it is a laborious task, but it will help your garden to grow fully. You must dig as deep as possible and be sure to turn the ground several times, breaking large areas of compacted soil. Take the opportunity to remove any debris or debris that may be in the ground. Depending on your soil type and your PH level, you need to add different things to balance it - a quick glance at Google will show you how to do it!
This may take several days as you need to add fertilizer, make changes, and constantly rotate the soil several times to make sure it is completely mixed.

Plants must adapt to the environment in which they want to be; You can not just go to your local garden center and choose the flower you need. In addition to adapting soil conditions, you can spend time looking around your garden throughout the day to find out if it is a collector or a shady spot and pick your plants up. As a result - even the most dedicated gardener will have trouble blooming a plant that likes shade the sun. Plan your garden accordingly - this can help draw it on a piece of paper before you start.
The last thing you need to pay attention to is the different times of the year when your seeds should be planted in the garden. It was new to me when I started, when I assumed you were not planting them in winter, but there are different months to grow different plants at best.
Get involved with your family
It can be easy to get lost in your garden, especially in the early months of building your garden, but why not bring your kids and make them fun and educational. Give them a piece in the garden, plant the vegetables they want and let them grow until it's time to collect, peel and cook!
Give yourself a shelter
It's great that you're ready to put so much work into your garden and make it a great place, but as we live in the UK, you may find that you can not spend it at any time because of the rain, snow and other hard elements. Add a shelter at the corner of your garden that allows you to get the most out of your garden, whatever the weather. It does not have to be something huge, like a log house or a cottage (although if you have a big enough space), but it can be something strange, like a gazebo, that combines privacy and openness on an equal footing.
