I've put it in English at the lecture, and I'm gonna post it here "AS IS", without translation... it's my fucking diary!!;)
Puritans' working hard in severe environment while being first settlers created the cult of hard-working pious citizen, loyal to Protestant traditions. Being religiously oppressed in Europe, they stuck for centuries on that religious issue, themselves becoming fanatically intolerant towards "heretics". It's a kind of some meaningless revenge for the sufferings of their banned ancestors.
But back to the Puritans' cult of hard work. Years passed, and the painful memories of religious prosecutions gradually went away. So did many of the prejudices and restrictions, caused by the Puritans' complex of inferiority, brought from Catholic Europe.
So wasn't it quite natural for the Puritans' moral to transform from just cult of hard work (which "is human's duty to god caused by original sin") to the modern cult of consumption, to the consumers' society and it's values? This is the logical consequence of Protestant morality, isn't it? Hard work - material wealth/
devaluation of moral values - unlimited consumption - respective values... isn't it a perfect cause-consequences chain? So why in hell are the Puritans bitching about the "immorality" of our consumers' society not-so-moral-perhaps values?? What the fuck, shitheads?? Ain't our relativism, agnosticism and especially utilitarism the flesh and blood of your Puritan values? So why don't you just admit it and shut up with your dumbass preachings??

...ну да, вот так всегда - начала академишно, а кончила матюгами...:D
*...нда, теперь придётся у кого-то собственно лекцию переписывать...*
