Diet for hypothyroidism of the thyroid gland involves quitting smoking and drinking alcohol, eating hard-to-digest foods containing saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. From the daily menu, products that have fast carbohydrates in their composition are excluded.
List of prohibited products:
- flour and sweet;
- fatty meat;
- lard, butter and margarine;
- sauces, spices, canned products;
- smoked meat, sausages;
- strong coffee;
- powdered juices, nectars, carbonated sweet drinks.
During the diet, you need to give preference to sea fish rich in iodine, fresh vegetables and fruits. Sweets can be replaced with dried fruits - they do not contain chemical additives that harm the body.
Products recommended for use:
- seafood and seaweed;
- fish (salmon, mackerel, herring);
- fruits and berries (apples, cherries, grapes, persimmons, currants, dates, kiwi, tangerines and oranges);
- vegetables (garlic, cabbage, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, beets, cucumbers, potatoes, spinach, onions);
- dried fruits;
- walnuts;
- olive oil;
- chicken eggs;
- fermented milk products.
The daily diet should be diverse and saturated with useful substances. Dishes are recommended to be steamed or baked without adding oil. To improve the taste of the dish, iodized salt is used. During each meal, you need to carefully chew food in order to reduce energy costs for its digestion.
Diet for hypothyroidism
Nutritionists advise daily to drink no more than 1.5 liters of liquid, otherwise the likelihood of edema increases. The diet is observed throughout the treatment of the disease, this allows you to speed up the healing process.
Menu for every day:
- breakfast - muesli with kefir or a portion of low-fat cottage cheese;
- second breakfast — yogurt and tangerine;
- lunch - soup on vegetable (meat) broth, stew with garnish (buckwheat, boiled or baked potatoes, pea porridge), mineral water without gas;
- afternoon snack - kiwi, nuts, a glass of broth of rose hips;

If necessary, the products in the menu can be replaced with others. The diet is suitable for daily use, on the 6th day it is necessary to do the greatest unloading on fruits, vegetables or kefir. On a fasting day, up to 1.5 kg of fruits (preferably apples) or up to 2 kg of vegetables, or up to 3 liters of kefir are consumed.
