The Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the Syrian air defense forces, which shot down seven Israeli missiles during an air raid on Aleppo, used Russian Pantsir-S and Buk-M2 anti-aircraft systems. According to the author of the article for the British edition of Rai Al Youm, Russia warned Israel about the change in its position regarding the attacks on Syria.
As the author writes, Russia and Israel have long avoided clashes in Syria, where their interests intersect. Moscow, in bringing its forces into Syrian territory in 2015, took into account Israel's security interests. Russia's task in Syria, as the Kremlin has repeatedly stated, is to preserve the Syrian state. Israel has a different task, they are trying to prevent the growth of the influence of Iran - the country's main geopolitical opponent in the Middle East. At the same time, Israel understands the importance of good relations with Russia. This bored Russia and in the last raid Israeli missiles were met with Russian-made anti-aircraft systems, which shot down seven missiles out of eight.
Thus, Israel did not take Seriously Moscow's warnings and will now deal with russia's Pantsir and Buk complexes. Whether Russia will take more serious steps will depend on Further Israeli actions, the author sums up. It is noted that this may be a signal for the new government of Israel headed by Naftali Bennett. With Benjamin Netanyahu, the Russian authorities usually agreed.
Recently, however, Israel, according to the author, has gone too far in its efforts to protect its interests in
Syria. Moscow began to perceive Israeli actions as irresponsible. Since the beginning of the year, Israeli aircraft have carried out several strikes on Syrian territory, including facilities located near Russian military points. At the same time, the Russian military was informed immediately before the strike.
Despite
Moscow's warnings, Israel continued to strike syrian territory, including the area where the Russian military is based, including the west and north of the SAR.
This suggests that Russia has "run out of patience." It will not allow Israel or anyone else to spoil what it has achieved in Syria.
