Обладатель премии фонда Андерса Йахреса в области культуры. Выступая с фолк-песней «Fairytale», получил в норвежском национальном туре «Евровидения-2009» голоса 700 тысяч телезрителей. 16 мая 2009 года стал победителем конкурса «Евровидение-2009», проходившего в Москве.
