Pisirian is a tiny tribal village home to the Pisirian tribe. The village offers little excitement, but some cute driftwood goat sculptures are worth seeing along the coastline. A short walk from here, you can also check out Liyushan , where you can climb up the Longfeng Pagoda for a great view of the city. The Taitung Martyr’s Shrine is another attraction worth checking out if you’re into history. Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Zhengqi and Bo’ai roads, this market is a great spot to grab souvenirs, try authentic Taiwanese food and get to know the local way of life.

Green Island is also home to several interesting historical sites, including the former prison that was used during the martial law era. Take a tour of the prison and learn about its dark past, or visit the lighthouse that has been standing on the island since the Japanese colonial period.

This location has a nice ocean view along with some art installation pieces for you to take pictures with. I came on a hot day, but the ocean breeze made it very relaxing. On this day, you can drive outside the city to explore some of Taitung’s beautiful, natural landscapes.
For people who are sick of greasy and over-seasoned food, Light Seagrass Health Hall is the best option for you. Newly-opened restaurant that serves good authentic Italian-style dishes and very good coffee. About 20 minutes walk from rail station and minutes walk from the center of Taidong.
As you wander around the factory, you’ll notice the rustic charm of the old machinery and the sweet smell of molasses in the air. Don’t forget to take a moment to snap some photos of the iconic red-brick chimney and the beautiful scenery surrounding the factory. Finally, unwind on the beautiful Dulan Beach, where you can soak up some sun and enjoy the relaxing ocean views.
