Our base for 2 nights is a new country inn noted for its excellent regional cooking. Discover the famous medieval burgs of Sibiu, Sighisoara and Brasov, visit Bran and Peleș castles, Biertan fortified church, and catch a glimpse of the ordinary life of Saxon villages. Transylvania is home to some of Europe’s best-preserved transylvania trips medieval towns featuring Old Saxon architecture, cobblestone streets and pastel-coloured houses. Visitors to Transylvania will also encounter stunning castles, fortified churches and incredible Carpthian Mountain scenery. Transylvania’s multi-ethnic heritage is alive and well in the small villages of Transylvania.
Perched on a headland above Bran, you’ll see the castle’s conical towers rise above the thick green forest as we approach - and it’s simply thrilling. Journey towards the Bucegi Mountains and Prahova Valley in the Southern Carpathians and enter a magical mountain region fabled for the legend of Count Dracula. Follow in the footsteps of the Romanian royal family and visit the mountain resort of Sinaia. The Village Museum is a charming open-air museum which showcases original houses that belonged to the Romanian peasants from all over the country. The museum also hosts many traditional fairs, where you can find traditional food and crafts.

The 79 rooms and suites ensure a comfortable stay and are decorated in a simple, homely design. The period-style restaurant is on the ground floor, offering views of the Sarindar Fountain, and serves national and international cuisine. Public tour – A great way to meet new people while you're travelling!
The sterling’s volatility is affecting the plans of millions of people planning winter sun holidays, a new survey has suggested. Located on top of a hill, natural defensiveness supplemented by impressive military engineering, Sighișoara is a highly picturesque little town. Buildings range from the 13th to the 19th centuries with a fine 15th-century church with good furnishings and a superb altarpiece of 1490. Renovated in 2016, the fortified church in Alma Vii gives an insight into the customs of Transylvanian Saxons. The landscapes of the Bucovina and Transylvania are those of gently rolling hills, dense woods, broad rivers and villages with pastel painted houses and riotous flower beds. Horses are still to be found in harness, ploughing the fields and transporting produce to markets.

Upon their migration to southern Transylvania, they began building little communities. The fortified churches started to be built in the mid 13th century. It is a condition of booking with Explore that you have adequate valid travel insurance. Your Insurance Policy must fully cover you for medical expenses and emergency repatriation to your home country. This can obviously vary dramatically from country to country and from trip to trip. On this particular trip we will be in hotels and community owned guesthouses. Please note that the accommodation mentioned in the itinerary is intended as a guide only and is always subject to availability. Accommodate at a hotel located in the vicinity of Bran Castle and enjoy a traditional dinner. After that, join our organized group at the entrance to the castle in order to take advantage of the ‘skip the ticket office line’ service. Go on a unique night tour of Dracula’s Castle and then party till morning on the grounds.

Today we will visit the Corvin Castle, the largest gothic castle in Transylvania. We will leave Sibiu in the morning and after a one and a half hour driving, we will arrive in Hunedoara. The city is an industrial town laid around the 15th-century castle. We will visit the castle, learning more about the Transylvanian history and different stages of construction of the Castle. And yes, don’t worry, we know all the anecdotes and little stories that will make this trip much more interesting and funny.
So forget about planning one Romania road trip to see it all, and think about what you want to see the most and start from there. That’s why you’ll need more than one road trip through Romania to discover it ALL. Spend part of the day embarking on a gentle hike, following the river through the gorge to reach a viewpoint that boasts breath-taking panoramas, and explore the biggest of the 124 caves to be found in the area. Your experienced guide will explain to you the diverse flora and fauna of the natural reserve.

On the way, you will pass through Alba Iulia, the original capital of Romania. I strongly advise you to take a break and visit the cobble-stoned citadel, if only for one hour. There is also a cable car, which you will pass by, once you begin your ascend on-foot, on the paved road of the fortress.
A land of wild forested mountains and timeless medieval landscapes, Romania has lain at the cultural crossroads of Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe for centuries. Hemmed in by the great arc of the Carpathian Mountains, its wealth of well-preserved medieval towns and churches play host to some of the most authentic and atmospheric cultural encounters. Private tour – Ideal for family groups or solo travellers who want a more personal tour experience. When you book a private tour you'll get to enjoy the experience without members of the public joining you. Since Transylvania was home to isolated villages rather than to large urban settlements, here we will find traces of the medieval life in one of the villages that we will visit on our way back.

A firm favourite among bikers world wide the B500’s steep and twisty roads are an exhilarating intro to this fantastic tour. We start our adventure getting the eurotunnel to Calais and from there we ride to Reims via the disused MotoGP track with the pit stops and grandstand now part of the main road. The track was the second location of the Grand Prix, several Formula one races and the MotoGP. After trying to get our knees down in France we venture into Germany riding to Baden Baden and finally Oberammergau before heading into Austria.
