Anyone who has held their hand out of a car into the wind to play airplane already has a fundamental impression of control surfaces on the airplane.

When the heel of the palm went down, the airpressure under the hand pushed the hand up. That’s called lift. The airflow over/under the hand changes with the shape of the hand or airfoil. If you had little cut-outs near your wrist, there wouldn’t be as much lift.

The tail section contains control surfaces for keeping the plane stable and controllable.

1) Horizontal: The horizontal, non-moving part is called the stabilizer, and it prevents uncontrolled up-and-down motion of the nose. The small hinged sections on each side are called elevators, which work in unison. It is controlled by the cockpit control wheel/stick and increases or decreases lift. When forward pressure is applied on the wheel, the elevators move downward, which increases the length of the tail causing more lift, which forces the tail upward, causing the nose to drop. 2) Vertical: The vertical non-moving part which prevents the nose from uncontrolled swinging side to side. The large hinged section is the rudder. The rudder is controlled by the foot pedals in the cockpit, and deflects the tail to the right or left.

The wings generate most of the lift to hold the plane in the air. Different models of aircraft will have wings of different shapes and in different vertical locations. On a Cessna, the wing is high, and on a Piper, it is low. On an F14, the can change from a forward angle to “swept back”.

On most small planes, the wings also carry the fuel.

There are many control surfaces on a wing:

Private jet planes are the new status symbol to show that you are one of the richest people in the world. Everyone seems to be buying private jets now. All of these jets are being completely gutted and redone inside and out. Not too long ago, it was a big deal for a person to own a small propeller plane with about ten seats in it. Now many very famous and rich people are buying large jumbo jets and turning them into hotels and clubs in the air. I think that the movie Soul Plane helped to shed some light on and poke some fun at this growing trend of pimping out private jet planes. This movie went a little overboard on the types of accessories that most people would put in their private jet plane, but it also showed some of the things that people actually do have in their private jets.

There have been many news stories about celebrities buying private jet planes for millions of dollars, and then spending two or three times more to get the planes designed and furnished exactly the way that they want them. Most of the time in these large jumbo jet planes, the seating will be âm vật giả completely removed, and other amenities will be put in their place. Some of the time the seating in the plane goes from three hundred to about twenty five. Q. My marriage is getting pretty dull. My husband and I are going through a low point where everything seems to be pretty boring. What are some things that we can do to spice up our marriage?

A. First of all know that every marriage goes through it’s high and low points. You guys are just in a natural part of the cycle. With that said, here are a few suggestions to make your marriage a little more interesting.

1) Stop complaining about the state of your union. Create an action plan for change and write it down. Its okay if youre the only one willing to spice things up at first. In time youll find that your spouse will be receptive to the changes youve made, especially if you dont point out your changes or nag your spouse about changing.

2) I cant say it enough, turn off the T.V. at least 30-45 minutes a day and spend time with each other. No distractions.

3) Date each other as if you werent married. Dress up, wear make up, cologne/perfume. Recreate your early years. Meet each other on site and pretend as though youre meeting for the first timeor have your partner pick you up from work or home. The whole idea is to go all out.

4) Do nice things for each other. Completing chores around the house that your spouse hates doing is a great place to start.

5) Make a point to have a second honeymoon at least once a year. Any time from three days to two weeks is good. Even if you cant get away, you can make a paradise at home. Make work take a back seat, and get someone to watch the kids (and even your pets). The point is to spend your focus on each other for a few days.

6) Live each day as though it were your last. Make sure you say the things you want to say to your spouse today and do the things you want to do for your spouse today. Dont hold back a good word or a good deed when you know it can do a wonder for your relationship.

7) Take care of yourself. This tip is probably the most important. Make sure that your spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical batteries are charged. If you need to spend some time doing a hobby, visiting with some friends, or pampering yourself, do it! Three Houston schools have been persistently rated as unsatisfactory by state guidelines for three or more years. As with most school closing warnings across the nation, the parents, community, and elected officials with a political stake in the area are up in arms over the possibility.

Though parents want their children to attend schools within their own neighborhood, I believe the community must look at the cost of keeping these three schools open the students are failing, unable to meet the bare minimum requirements of the state! With their futures at risk, I would think that parents would want their children at better performing schools.

The Houston schools ratings are based on statewide student achievement tests and the overall dropout and graduation rates of each school. If a proposed policy by the Texas Education Agency is adopted, then the state education commissioner will be able to close in the near future any school that is rated unsatisfactory for four consecutive years. All three schools for this year will be under the supervision of Dr. Karen Soehnge, the Houston schools chief academic officer.

The Houston schools have looked at several strategies to save these schools. The ones they have implemented up-to-now have failed. If this current campaign fails as well, then the schools will be closed. It is a improve immediately or close the doors situation for the schools, the students, and the educators.

All students deserve a quality education, and it is obvious that schools, which continue to be rated unsatisfactory, are not providing such. The Houston schools must do better for these children.

Ways to relax when you dont think that you can

The unfortunate part of getting married is that you will be pulled in many different directions on and leading up to the day. Not only will the planning seem to take up your free time, but family member may feel that they need to put in their two cents as well.

The combination can be torture.

But since youve gotten to the actual wedding day without major damage, why not have a little fun? For the women, have a little champagne at the salon when you get your hair done. This is your wedding day and you want to look happy in your pictures, rather than relieved. Take some time for yourself on the actual day. You can either step out of the room for a moment, or just sit down with a book for a few minutes. Find just five minutes of quiet, and youre sure to have a relaxing wedding day.

Mold is an inevitable challenge of indoor living. That can be a problem, because exposure can cause allergic reactions, asthma, nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing or skin irritation. If you have a mold problem in your home, the only way to control its growth is to control moisture. Here are some things you can do to control mold growth in your home:

• Fix the source of the water problem or leak to prevent mold growth.

• Clean and dry any damp or wet building materials and furnishings within 24 hours to prevent mold growth.

• Clean mold off hard surfaces with water and detergent and dry completely.

• Reduce the potential for condensation on cold surfaces (such as windows, piping, exterior walls, roof or floors) by adding insulation.

• Absorbent materials, such as ceiling tiles, that are moldy, may need to be replaced.

• Don’t carpet areas where there is a perpetual moisture problem, such as around sinks.

• Reduce indoor humidity to less than 60 percent to decrease mold growth. Vent bathrooms, dryers and other moisture-generating sources to the outside with a ventilation fan.

Digital video recorders (DVR) are recording equipment that can record and store digital video on a computer. These can record audio as well as video data from multiple sources.

A DVR is basically a hard drive that can be connected to the computer and to other video sources such as a VCR.
