The NBAs concerns over House Bill 2, known variously as HB2 or the bathroom law, have yet to be addressed satisfactorily by North Carolina legislators. It became an issue for the league last spring when LGBT protests framed it as discriminatory, among its provisions, in preventing people from using public restrooms and locker rooms based on self-defined gender identity.

Adopted statewide to counter a specific bathroom-neutral policy enacted in Charlotte, HB2 requires people to use public facilities corresponding to their biological gender. Its supporters have cited privacy and safety reasons for favoring the law.

Silver repeatedly has cited diversity and inclusion as core principles of the NBA, values make staging the 2017 All-Star Game and all the festivities surrounding it problematic. Attempts to work behind the scenes with politicians and business leaders in North Carolina have not been fruitful and a recent short session of the state legislature only produced only minor revisions in language, insufficient to satisfy the NBA.

Rick Buchanan, NBA general counsel, updated the board on the situation and the Hornets spoke as well, Silver said. No vote was asked for or taken. But in keeping with Silvers statement last month that he didnt see the league getting past the summer without knowing definitely where we stand, each passing day without compromise add urgency to the matter.

Написал это уже в Фейсбуке, сюда просто скопирую.

А если совсем серьезно, то не очень духоподъемно все это видится, когда посмотришь на представленные от обеих партий кандидатуры в Белый дом. Две основные партии в стране, с демократическими традициями давними-давними, длиной более чем в 100 лет. В стране многомиллионной,  и все сводится к Хиллари и к Трампу; с Сандерсом и парой еще каких-то не очень знакомых и неприметных настолько, что я и имен ихних запомнить никак не могу. Да и не важные роли у них, больше на на подтанцовке&

И  это все?!! Больше никого найти невозможно? В обеих партиях и никого?

Мне кажется, вот именно эти соображения у американцев и являются главной идеей того, что сейчас происходит. Это когда человек с самой нелепой прической, а ничем другим он пока никого не потряс. Никто не слышал еще от него никакой политической программы да и убеждений своих он еше не высказывал толком, если не считать каких-то общих слов на все темы на свете. Мне кажется, и нет у него еще ничего подобного, потому что, могу ошибаться, конечно, но он и сам не ожидал того, что эта волна вынесет наверх именно его. Он же, как всегда, просто пошалить и поскандалить хотел, потому что хорошо это дело знает и умеет. И вот вдруг,  ни с того ни с сего,  становится он основным кандидатом. Есть у меня подозрения, что многие имеют в виду Трампа только потому, что он  совсем не Клинтон. И потому что он очень далеко от того, который Буш-самый-младший-второй.

С тюрьмой,  это я, конечно, очень азартно.. На самом деле, не такой я кровожадный. Хотя, почему-то мне кажется, что будь на месте Хиллари кто-то другой, то за все то, что она уже сделала и за то, что ей предъявляют ее соперники от конкурирующей фирмы, то этот кто-то давно уже был бы озабочен поиском адвоката, а возможно и чем-то более серьезным.

Могу ошибаться, впрочем&

Все равно, какой-то не многообещающий политической ландшафт перед главной схваткой за самый большой приз на ближайшие четыре года, как минимум.

Вчера у нас в Орегоне был большой выборный день. Можно сказать, с промежуточными итогами, перед основной схваткой за Белый Дом, который состоится в ноябре.

Честно говоря, итоги удивили меня самого&

Дедушка Сандерс,  это такой хороший пример Жириновского, но made in USA, ужасно много популизма. Честно говоря, я думал, что он выйдет из гонки еще позавчера. Тем не менее, дедушка уперся рогом и вчера в нашем штате, который, поверьте мне, очень демократический штат, то есть, поддержка демократов и Обамы была очень серьезной& Впрочем, может быть, именно поэтому?!..

В общем, Дедушка в Орегоне вчера сделал Бабушку..

Но я не демократ и за них не голосовал. Трамп же, у нас в Штате всех своих ближайших соперников порвал.

Если говорить о Клинтон, то я вот чего не понимаю, почему она и ей подобные, да и избиратель в некотором роде тоже, почему они все привыкли к мысли, что если она является женой Президента, как в случае с Killary, или имеются родственные отношения, как в случае с семейством Буш, почему все это позволяет и дает всем им право самим тоже претендовать на то, чтобы начать управлять Государством? Замечу, практика, как раз, говорит об обратном. Президентство Буша младшего, управление Госдепом, вряд-ли все это можно назвать удачными примерами управления& В случае же с Клинтон, так это вообще нонсенс какой-то жуткий, Она собственную семью толком организовать не смогла&

И тем не менее, с упорством достойным лучшего применения, они продолжают лезть в Белый дом&

Никакого Овального кабинета! Что-то очень небольшое и желательно  с железными решетками на окнах!

Это она точно заслужила!

Я понимаю, что сейчас идут всякие информационные войны и все такое. Тем не менее, кое-чего, я, все-таки, не понимаю.

Читатели регулярно спрашивают: Почему вы всегда издеваетесь только над латышами? О русских написать, небось, страшно!. Это неправда. На самом деле, я просто не умею писать по-русски, а освоить подходящий алфавит, чтобы понять мои слова, большинство латвийских русских никогда не считало необходимым. Например, мой сосед Иван из Кенгарагса.

На самом деле, не могу сказать про своего соседа ничего плохого. Если учесть, что Иван — потомок рабочих низшего класса, военных и просто халявщиков, я рад, что для общения он способен пользоваться не только знаками, но и артикулированными звуками. Сам я эти звуки никогда не понимал, но, наблюдая, как он общается с каким-то своим другом, всегда тепло этому улыбаюсь. А когда Иван надеялся, что его так называемый язык станет вторым официальным госязыком в Латвии, я от всего сердца посмеялся. Это было очень мило.

Также меня всегда восхищали привычки моего соседа. Например, недавно я видел, как он сидел на корточках на скамейке около нашего подъезда. Вокруг на корточках сидело еще трое молодых местных — двое на земле напротив Ивана, а последний — чуть поодаль. Было очевидно, что и в этой коммуне существует определенная иерархия. На самом высоком месте находился самый сильный чудак, который мог себе позволить двухлитровку по акции, а остальные терпеливо дожидались своей очереди. Совершенно ясно, что в момент, когда к компании присоединилась бы самка, одетая в позолоченный спортивный костюм, вожак смог бы первым с ней совокупиться. В природе часто можно наблюдать нечто подобное.

Следующая характерная странность, которую я заметил, это необъяснимая любовь Ивана к цирковому искусству. Не знаю никого другого, кто столь целенаправленно водил бы детей поглазеть на несмешные шутки клоунов, летающие бутылки и какающих на сцену лошадей, параллельно пихая детям в лицо сахарную вату и булки, а также заставляя их фотографироваться с мартышкой на плече. Правда, это восхитительно. В развитом обществе этот феномен, кажется, исчез уже несколько тысячелетий назад.

Достойна внимания также любовь моего соседа к российской эстраде. Он готов каждый год отправляться на тесную юрмальскую эстрадку, чтобы посмотреть, как скелет с натянутой кожей на лице и в неестественном парике безжизненно стоит на сцене и открывает рот, изображая пение. И он свято верит, что артист поет вживую. Похоже на молодого папу, который обманывает малыша, демонстрируя фокус с оторванным большим пальцем.

Но есть одна вещь, из-за которой я всегда завидовал Ивану. У него очень много праздников. Для латышей характерно чрезмерное количество траурных дней, но мой сосед способен найти причину порадоваться даже в такой надуманный праздник как 9 Мая. Если для меня это начало оккупации, то для него — отличный повод публично напиться. Позавчера я проснулся от криков, так как приближение Ивана можно было услышать еще до того, как он добрался до подъезда: КЕН-ГА-РАГС! КЕН-ГА-РАГС!.

То же самое с его старым новым годом: Эй, а может, встретим новый год еще раз 13 января? Да, а почему бы нет?!. А потом еще второе Рождество — просто удивительно. Предлагаю последовать этому примеру и ввести второе и третье Лиго.

Естественно, излишняя увлеченность праздниками привела к необратимым последствиям для здоровья Ивана. У него настолько плохой слух, что иногда мне непонятно, слышит ли он вообще. Это единственное, что могло бы объяснить ненормальные крики на жену по телефону. Люди с нормальным слухом говорят тише.

Я действительно не могу сказать о своем соседе ничего плохого. В мире всегда выживал сильнейший, но в цивилизованном обществе принято помогать и поддерживать слабых. Поэтому я могу гордиться, что благодаря моему крепкому плечу Ивану, родители которого 60 лет назад прибыли в Латвию с бесчисленными тысячами экономических мигрантов, удалось сохранить свою национальную идентичность и выжить в этой по-скандинавски сдержанной среде. Да, иногда уживаться и находить общий язык было трудно, но на все это можно посмотреть и со светлой стороны — по крайней мере, он не из Африки.

The Trail Blazers spent the entirety of this year, regular season and playoffs alike, defying the worlds expectations for them and insisting that no matter what, there was no ceiling to what they could accomplish with their teamwork and competitive spirit. This only makes it more cruelly ironic that in the end, their miracle run was met with  thwack!  a ceiling.

All year long, the moral of the Blazers story appeared to be anything is possible. Then, in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, we all collectively realized that wording was a little off. Really, the moral was anything is possible, except outlasting the best team in NBA history in a seven-game playoff series.

Sadly  and I mean sadly not just for Portland, but for all 29 NBA teams that reside outside of Oakland, California  this is what the Warriors do. They destroy hopes and dreams. They shatter mythologies and deflate egos. They end seasons; they threaten to derail entire eras of teams histories. It would be narrow-minded and selfish for any Blazers fan to believe this only affects them. The dominant force that is Golden State is not a Portland problem; its an everyone problem.

Look around the league, and its not hard to find evidence that the Warriors have the rest of the league demoralized. For example, ask yourself  why do you think the Cavaliers fired coach David Blatt back in January? It cant be because they were dissatisfied with Blatts results. They were 30-11 at the time, riding high atop the Eastern Conference. No, they fired Blatt because tension was mounting within the organization that no matter what the wins and losses said, they werent title material yet. Thats the Warriors effect.

Look at OKC. Why do you think its been so tough for us simply to sit back and enjoy the Thunders largely successful season? They won 55 games during the regular season and are now headed for their fourth Western Conference finals of the Kevin Durant era. The problem, of course, is that reaching the conference finals doesnt mean a thing if you cant go all the way, and theres panic in Oklahoma that Durant might leave this summer to play for a team thats even better. Like, you know, the Warriors.

The examples go on. There have been rumblings about the Clippers blowing up their formidable three-man nucleus of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, even though all three are basically in their primes. Theres gloom and doom in Memphis. The Rockets havent been the same since Golden State dismantled them in the West finals a year ago. Id argue that all of the above have felt the pull of the Warriors gravity. Its tough to go on competing when youre up against a mighty force you cant control.

I wrote about the phenomenon of Warriors defeatism back in March, when the Dubs were still sitting on 60-something wins and chasing the Bulls record. You could already feel it then  the entire NBA was ceding defeat (or at least many of the media members and fans on the periphery were). It was starting to make the league less fun. Its enjoyable to follow the NBA when theres one dominant team and everyone else is gunning for them; its not so enjoyable when the elite squad is so much better that no one else has the heart to compete.

My advice to everyone, back in March, was not to sweat the Warriors-induced panic. First of all, theres more to basketball than just pursuing championships  theres nothing wrong with fielding a competitive team, fighting to win 50-plus games and surviving as far as possible into May and possibly June. Theres virtue in that, even when you come up short of the ultimate goal. And besides, why blow it up? Is any blowup really likely to pay off? Every time you take a step back in the hope of taking two steps forward, youre taking a massive risk.

Warriors panic is the product of a championship or bust mentality thats infected everyone in and around the league, from players and coaches to owners and GMs to writers and fans. We all suffer from it, to some extent. My response: Fight it. Appreciate basketball in all its beauty, even if one nagging part of you says not to. Dont let the Warriors drag you down.

This is a general NBA thought, mind you. But when you look especially at the Blazers situation, it only becomes more pertinent. If theres anyone in the NBA right now who should be looking excitedly to the future, its Portland. The Blazers are a young, hungry team thats trending in the right direction  and if this past season is any indication, theyre moving that way much faster than expected.

I harp on this incessantly, but it bears repeating one last time: Vegas said the Blazers would win 27.5 games this season. Instead they won 44, plus another five in the playoffs, laughing in the bookmakers faces all the way there. No one understands quite like the Blazers that expectations were made to be surpassed. We might assume now that no one can ever usurp Golden State, but we can spend the next five years wondering if maybe, just maybe, that assumption is wrong.

Weve seen how much the Blazers have improved in this year alone. Damian Lillard went from LaMarcus Aldridges sidekick a year ago to eighth place in the MVP voting. CJ McCollum went from averaging 6.8 points per game as a bench guy last season to 20.8 this year. Al-Farouq Aminu proved to be an elite wing defender and surprisingly competent 3-point shooter. Mason Plumlee, Ed Davis and Allen Crabbe all served as capable role players, with each registering the best years of their young careers.

The list goes on. Up and down the roster, there are success stories  and theres reason to believe this collection of talent will get even better with more development and continuity together. The Blazers are in the perfect position to come back next year even better. Theres no reason for the Warriors, or anyone else, to destroy that sense of optimism.

Obviously, the Warriors have even more reason to be optimistic. Its hard to believe this about a team thats already won one ring and appears bound for a second, but the Warriors are still so young and so well set up for long-term success. Stephen Curry is still only 28 years old. Klay Thompson is 26. Draymond Green just turned 26; Harrison Barnes is still two weeks away from turning 24. Theyre cost-controlled, too. Curry is under contract for $12 million next season and it would be a shock if he didnt return on a long-term extension. Thompson is signed through 2019 and Green, through 2020, both on contracts that are expensive now but about to come bargains as the cap goes up and the value of a dollar plummets.

The Warriors arent just heavy title favorites now; theyve got all the pieces in place to be a dynastic presence atop the NBA for the rest of this decade. Still, though, the reality is we dont know what the future will hold. A lot can change in sports, and fast. Remember  the Warriors stumbled into this all-time great team by accident. Then-starting power forward David Lee was sidelined by a minor hamstring injury for a few weeks in late 2014, forcing Steve Kerr to go to his bench and hand a heavy workload over to an untested youngster named Draymond; the rest is history. As quickly as the Warriors arrived at their destiny as The Best Thing Ever On Hardwood, it could all be taken away.

Injuries can happen. The excitement of Currys first four seasons was sullied by nagging concerns about his ankles; if they were ever to give out again, suddenly everything would change. Personnel can change. Barnes is a free agent this summer, and theres buzz that he might command a max contract  what if he ends up somewhere else? Chemistry problems can seep into the mix. What if the Warriors keep Barnes, and resentment simmers over him being the highest-paid Warrior?

Or, quite simply, guys can age and lose their fastball, and we may realize that certain key players  guys like Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut  were more important than we initially thought. Think about the Miami Heat circa 2013-14 and consider how we used to perceive Dwyane Wade. One minute, he was part of the most dominant team going; the next, Miami was getting shanked by the Spurs in five games and LeBron James was skipping town on his too-old partner in crime. Life comes at you fast.

The bottom line is we dont even know what will happen a year from now, much less three or five or more. We all like to pretend we do, but were just guessing, and sports would be no fun at all if we were never wrong. Luckily, were wrong all the time.

The positive thing for Portland is we also dont know what the future holds here. For starters, we could see even more improvement from Lillard and McCollum and Aminu and everyone else, but beyond that: Theres never been a better time for the Blazers to aggressively hit the free agent market and chase another premium piece.

Last summer, the Blazers were a rebuilding project that no sane player in their right mind was touching with a 10-foot pole. Now, though, circumstances have changed. Consider what Kevin Arnovitz wrote about the Blazers this week for ESPN:

A growing number of free agents are bypassing teams such as the Lakers and Knicks to join teams in less glamorous but more hospitable markets where they have a more appealing supporting cast and a superior work environment. Aldridge might be the case study when he decided it was time to leave Portland last year. He canceled a meeting with New York and consigned the Lakers to his second tier, as he ultimately chose San Antonio, where theres no such thing as a marketing campaign based around an individual player. Ironically, it was Aldridges departure that has enabled the Trail Blazers to begin building their strongest selling point in any July free-agent meeting: Damian Lillard is the guy you want to play with.

Its all true. This is a new era in the NBA  one in which yes, Portland is still a small media market that lacks the glamour of a New York or an L.A., but it can be a destination nonetheless because players priorities have shifted. Hollywood glitz matters less than a substantive roster with talent peaking at the right times. For everything the Warriors have going for them, Portland has plenty as well. McCollum is 24 years old; Lillard and Aminu are 25. Davis is a relative senior citizen at 26. Theyre all under contractual control for a long, long time. Add another impact player to that mix and the Blazers could really get somewhere. (Weve got all summer to debate who those players might be, so theres no need to dive in immediately, but lets just say you already know where I stand if youve been following my not-so-subtle Twitter campaign.)

For now, the Blazers are done and were all stuck watching the final two rounds of the NBA playoffs from home, without a dog in the fight. The Warriors will advance to take on OKC, the Cavaliers will meet whomever survives that God-forsaken Toronto/Miami series and the Blazers will gear up for next year. In all likelihood, the NBA season will end a month from now with Golden State winning another title and building its case to be the NBAs next great dynasty.

Thats OK. Watch the dynasty happen. Admire it; respect it. Maybe even learn a thing or two from it. Just dont let it demoralize you, Portland  lifes too short, and the future here is too bright.

PORTLAND, Ore.  Bamboo is tolerant to drought, but balancing water with restraint is tricky business, especially if youre a young NBA player. This was the message delivered to the Trail Blazers roster last October after the team heard from Greg Bell, the author of Water The Bamboo: Unleashing the Potential of Teams and Individuals.

The bamboo becomes a running gag among the Trail Blazers, and its the source of quite the shtick between All-NBA point guard Damian Lillard and reserve Luis Montero.

I would always tell him, Did you water your bamboo?, like, every day, Lillard says. So he started singing, like, Waaaaater the Bamboooooo.'

Montero has played all of 42 minutes as a rookie, but he apparently excels as the teams musical director  though he speaks broken English. The song metastasizes into various riffs and remixes. Pretty soon, Lillard begins calling Montero Water, and Montero calls Lillard Water.

In colloquial Spanish, attaching an ito or ita to a name or object is a term of endearment, literally meaning little. So Allen Crabbe is now AC-ito, and Maurice Harkless is Mo-ito. Eventually, everyone on the team is just Water-ito.

Just after the All-Star break, Lillard gets a call early in the morning on a blackout day  designated as such by coach Terry Stotts in lieu of voluntary, so players understand they can stay away from the practice facility in suburban Portland without being perceived as unmotivated. Its Montero, who doesnt drive, hasnt dabbled with Uber and whose normal ride is away.

He says, Water-ito, I need a ride to the gym,' Lillard remembers.

You know its a blackout day, Lillard tells him.

I need to get the work in, Lillard recalls Montero saying.

Lillard drives to Monteros apartment, and they head to the facility. While Montero works out on the floor for a couple of hours, Lillard lifts in the weight room. Lillard has been concerned about Monteros wardrobe, so after they finish up, they hop over to Saks Fifth Avenue. He hadnt been suited up, Lillard says. You get you a black one. You get you a blue one. You get you a gray one. You can wear the suit. You can wear a nice button-up shirt with the sport coat and some jeans and nice shoes. I was just breaking it down for him.

By the time Lillard drops Montero back home, its dark  but Montero is now suited up.

We had spent the whole day together, Lillard says. I had picked him up at like 9 oclock. And by the time we got home, it was 5 oclock.

The Portland Trail Blazers traveled to Oakland tonight to face the Golden State Warriors in the direst of must-win situations: down 3-1 and needing a victory to force Game 6 at home. They didnt get it, but they settled for the consolation prize of a hard-fought defeat, acknowledged by all who saw it as the best effort imaginable. The mileage on that may vary. A 4-1 series loss is still a loss. But Blazers fans can be assured that their team gave the Warriors everything they could handle up until the final moments of the game and the series. Golden States execution ended up outstripping the Blazers but their hearts never did.

Game Flow

The Warriors started out this game with a couple priorities: getting Klay Thompson into scoring mode and making sure the Blazers had to deal with plenty of screens as they did so. Both plans worked. Thompson ended up scoring a couple quick buckets on his way to an incredible night. (He would finish the game with 33 points on 13-17 shooting.) The Blazers had trouble getting around screens to get to him so they ended up switching to stem the flow. Remember this. It worked in the first period but would come back to haunt the Blazers later.

With Thompsons early burst subsiding and no Warriors stepping up to fill the gap, Portlands offense started to tell. Damian Lillard hit a couple of threes in the period as did Maurice Harkless, the latter kicking off a huge night for Portlands supporting cast. The Warriors made a late-quarter run to squeeze 27 points from their formerly-stalling offense but the Blazers topped them with 30 for a 3-point lead after one.

Portlands second unit continued their super-excellent streak in the second quarter. Their defense, bolstered by Allen Crabbe patrolling the perimeter, was superb. Shaun Livingston scored inside via superior height but otherwise the Warriors bench had trouble getting anything going. Meanwhile Crabbe and Al-Farouq Aminu poured in threes while CJ McCollum struck from mid-range. A rare bench-inspired 10-0 run set up the Blazers to withstand Thompson returning to life, cashing in a trio of three-pointers on his way to 13 points in the period. Lilllard countered with free throws and a couple more shots to bring his first-half scoring total to 19. When the dust cleared, Portland led 63-58. The 5-point edge wasnt a huge comfort but Portland being on track for 120 and Lillard for 40 were both hallmarks of victory over Golden State. There was hope.

ГААГА, 11 мая. /ТАСС/. Власти Нидерландов разрешили женщине, страдающей от посттравматического стрессового расстройства (ПТСР), добровольно уйти из жизни с помощью смертельной инъекции.

Об этом сообщила газета Independent.

По данным нидерландской комиссии по эвтаназии, на которые ссылается издание, возраст женщины, имя которой не раскрывается, составлял от 20 до 30 лет. В возрасте от пяти до 15 лет она стала жертвой сексуального насилия, после чего страдала от ПТСР, анорексии, галлюцинаций и других психологических заболеваний.

Несмотря на улучшения в психическом состоянии пациента после интенсивной терапии, врачи сделали вывод, что многочисленные расстройства женщины неизлечимы, и два года назад разрешили ей добровольно уйти из жизни. Газета не приводит данных о том, когда именно был сделан смертельный укол.

Эвтаназия в Нидерландах была законодательно закреплена в 2001 году.

Сегодня Portland Trail Blazers заканчивают свой сезон, который уже сейчас можно назвать очень удачным.

В сезоне 2015  2016 никто из экспертов не ожидал от команды ничего. Потеряв четыре стартовых игрока, покинувших команду прошлым летом все эксперты в NBA, как один, писали что этот сезон команда из Портланда будет формироваться и знакомиться друг с другом, и закончит сезон выиграв не больше 25  28-ми игр.

Ни о каких играх Playoffs от команды не ожидал никто.

Я сам писал о том же самом.

Команда не только прорвалась в Playoffs, но и играет во втором круге. То есть, сделала уже больше того, что получилось сделать в сезоне предыдущем, с составом игроков, от которого эксперты ожидали многого.

Во втором круге Playoffs, команда попала на Чемпиона прошлого года Golden State Warriors, для которой этот сезон рекордный, потому что в этом сезоне команда проиграла всего 9-ть из 82-ух игр.

И даже здесь игра Blazers не обошлась без Чудес. Я ожидал что Portland Trail Blazers проиграет все четыре игры и спокойно разъедется по отпускам.

И снова,  ошиблись все.

Команда уже сейчас сыграла четыре игры. Счет по играм 3 : 1 в пользу Warriors, но он спокойно мог быть 3 : 1 в пользу Blazers. В предыдущей игре, для победы над Portland Trail Blazers Чемпиону понадобилась тяжелая артиллерия в лице игрока, который вчера получил звание MVP  Most Valuable Player (Самый Ценный Игрок) Stephen Curry. Это звание он завоевывает второй год подряд. До него этого в NBA тоже не делал никто. В предыдущей игре Blazers перевели игру в дополнительное время, и в эти 5 минут Stephen Curry 17 очков из 21-ого. Удержать его было просто невозможно. Stephen Curry был травмирован и в предущих трех играх не играл. По хорошему, все специалисты писали и говорили о том, что игроку следует подождать и восстановиться после травмы колена. Травма была достаточно серьезной и в будущем может проявить себя. Однако, команда из Портланда играла так, что Чемпионы понимали, без своего лучшего игрока они победить не смогут.

The Portland Trail Blazers fell to the Golden State Warriors 132-125 in Game 4 of their best-of-seven playoff series tonight. Defeat left them behind 3-1 with their hopes of victory dimming. The good news for Portland: despite the loss, they took the champs to overtime. The bad news: they led by 14 in the first period and held the advantage most of the game before succumbing to a tie score at the end of regulation. The game was in their grasp and they couldnt hold it.

The worse news: Stephen Curry. Hes back.

Like 40 points, new-NBA-overtime-record back.

Curry changed everything in this game. Portland came into the extra period armed with their copy of Roberts Rules of Order, ready for a strident debate. The Warriors brought a bazooka. When the smoke cleared Curry had scored a record 17 points in OT, bringing his team an incredible victory. Portland walked off the floor knowing every footstep was carrying them towards the end of this series.

Хорошо, что попался всего один человек. Поскольку видео оказалось у Шария, я понял, что с парнем ничего плохого не случилось.

ДЕНЬ ПОБЕДЫ ПОД ПРИСМОТРОМ

Накануне 9 мая киевлянам посоветовали не выходить зря на улицы, так как Великая Отечественная — это была не война Украины. Украина была жертвой тоталитаризма. Сидите дома, придурки. Но люди выйдут, я уверена.

Иду смотреть, как празднует Киев. На аллее Славы раздавали георгиевские ленты, но правосеки устроили потасовку. Ленты раздавать перестали.

Киев наводнен камуфляжным мурлом. Это поразительно: отмечать День Победы под присмотром потомков коллаборантов! В кошмаре не придумаешь. Но тут придумали.

Вечный огонь утопает в цветах. Люди идут и идут, без всякой символики, просто так. Впечатления: пустые коробки на Крещатике, бредущие по бокам ветераны, которым не дали пройти парадом, и обилие искусственных маков. Хозяева как бы дают понять: «Мы вам разрешаем тут немного погулять и поотмечать ваш колорадский праздник. А больше — ни- ни».

По данным соцопросов, 70 процентов граждан страны были против законов о десоветизации, столько же — против отмены термина «Великая Отечественная война». Победила демократия, как вы понимаете. Еще одна сокрушительная победа.

Ночью пидлиткы (подростки) разбили мемориальную доску Георгию Жукову. Их пожурили. Вот когда они состарятся, что расскажут внукам? «Слушай меня, внук, а я памятники кувалдой разбивал. За ночь мог сразу три, во как».

ЛЮСТРАЦИЯ

Как тут жить, как работать? Медсестра Надя сегодня мне сказала, что таким как я «надо разбивать тупые головы об стены», потому что я, якобы, против Украины. Сказала она мне на чистом русском языке, с легким украинским акцентом. А я вообще никогда с ней на политические темы не говорила.

Начальство передо мной извинилось (потому что в медицине некому работать), но кричало:

— Меня из за вас люстрируют, люстрируют! Потому что я ваш начальник. А вы отделаетесь, отделаетесь и ищи вас потом, свищи!

Вот такие настроения в профессиональной среде.

В рамках проводимой люстрации уволили главного врача ЦРП Святошинского района Киева. Все обошлось без мусорного бака. Я лично знакома с ним. Нормальный мужик, нормальный, толковый организатор. Работал при всех президентах и помогал людям чем мог, в условиях полнейшей нищеты. Все сотрудники в шоке.

с Днем Великой Победы!!!

Победа в той войне далась всему Человечеству очень большой ценой.

Пусть никогда не повторится то, через что прошли все страны, и особенно та страна, которой сейчас уже нет. Я имею в виду, конечно же,  СССР.

Но, чтобы это никогда не повторилось, мы всегда должны помнить о той страшной войне.

После того, что случилось вчера, можно с большой увернностью сказать, что в этом сезоне лимит на Чудеса у команды из Портланда исчерпан.

Вчера, Portland Trail Blazers выиграли у Los Angeles Clippers и прошли в полуфинал Playoffs NBA

Однако, в следующем круге Blazers уже ожидает команда, которая в прошлом году завоевала титул Чемпиона, а в этом сезоне проиграла всего 9 игр.

Можно с большой уверенностью сказать, что Портланд проиграет эту серию со счетом 4 : 0.

И даже учитывая это, команда из Портланда в этом сезоне сделала намного больше того, чего от нее ожидали все те, кто так или иначе наблюдает за играми NBA. Потеряв четырех основных игроков стартового состава, команда сумела сделать значительно больше того, что она сумела сделать в сезоне предыдущем.

Но, возвращаясь к тому, с чего я начал,  Чудеса все закончились.

Осталось только расслабиться и получить удовольствие от четырех оставшихся игр в этом сезоне.

С уверенностью можно сказать только одно, у команды есть будущее.

P.S. Кстати, одно из 9-ти поражений над Warriors принадлежит как раз Blazers

Смотрю вчера телевизор и вижу знакомое лицо.

Сначала я подумал, что мне показалось. Лицр было не только очень знакомым. Оно, ко всему прочему, было знакомым настолько, что мне показалось, я видел это лицо не только очень близко, но даже у себя в квартире.

Я не обознался.

Эта добрая девушка была кандидатом на позицию одной из наших помощниц, которые проживают постоянно и должны помогать нам 24/7. Она уже проработала почти месяц и должна была вселиться с Первого Мая.

Я с самого начала всем говорил, что, скорее всего, все что ее интересует,  это даже не работа, а квартира. Место проживания.

Вчера ее повязала полиция и я даже не беру в кавычки слово повязала. Потому что ее не только повязали, но и уложили лицом на землю. При себе эта дама имела заряженное что-то, с 30-тью пулями в обойме.

Gang violence in Portland is continue to run ahead of last years record levels, despite an increased focus by the police to prevent it.

Around 20 people suspected of having been involved in gang related incidents have been arrested over the past two weeks on weapon and other charges. Thursday night, five people were arrested and four guns were seized at a gathering in Brentwood Park in Southeast Portland with known gang associates.

Our focus is on harm reduction. Its taking a toll of everyone, but we will continue to do it, says Assistant Police Chief Kevin Modica.

But the stepped up efforts did not prevent the Gang Enforcement Team from accepting its 55th case of the year on April 19.

Thats 16 more than the 39 accepted at that time last year. By the end of 2015, GET had investigated 193 incidents of gang violence, 75 more than the record of 118 set in 2012.

The situation was discussed at the April 22 meeting of the Portland Peace Collaborative, a community forum where the most recent GET statistics were released. They included eight cases accepted for investigation over the past two week. Three people were wounded in two of them. In three others, three houses were shot at, all for the second time this year.

Some of those at the gathering expressed alarm that two of the people arrested in Brentwood Park were women. One, Brenea Sante Williams, 24, was carrying a loaded handgun with a 30-round magazine in her hand when police showed up. She was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Possession of Weapons in a Park.

Its very concerning that young women are engaging in this kind of behavior, says forum co-chair Antoinette Edwards, director of the city Office of Youth Violence Prevention.

Edwards praised the police for their efforts to reduce gang violence and called on the community to report what they know about previous shootings.

В общем-то, работать у нас она не будет, как вы понимаете, но вот чего я не пойму, то почему эта добрая девушка так легко прошла отбор на криминал. Это, как я понимаю, должны проверять в первую очередь?!

&Но я совсем не расстроен, скорее  наоборот.

О чем это я?  спросите вы.. О баскетболе, об NBA, а если совсем быть точным, то о команде, за которую я болею.

Как-то, совершенно незаметно пролетел сезон в NBA. Команде Portland Trail Blazers осталось сыграть всего одну игру регулярного сезона. Вот это я писал до начала сезона.

Сезон почти закончен, и я могу сказать, что я совсем не попал.

Несмотря на потерю четырех основных игроков, по сравнению с прошлым сезоном, команда в этом сезоне сыграла так, как этого от нее не ожидал никто.

Перед началом сезона, абсолютно все специалисты от баскетбола в NBA предсказывали Portland Trail Blazers выиграть 25-28 игр и спокойно закончить сезон командой, которую нужно будет усиливать новой кровью, быть так называемой lottery team. То есть, быть командой, которая окажется в самом низу турнирной таблицы. У этих команд есть самые большие шансы усилиться за счет новых талантов.

Команда Portland Trail Blazers сыграла потрясающе. Осталось подождать результатов последней игры, но уже на данный момент ясно, что ниже седьмого места команда не упадет. Сейчас она на пятом.

Это значит, команда будет играть в играх playoff.

Конечно, шансов пройти во второй круг playoff у команды никаких, но, даже уже сейчас можно поздравить команду Портланда. Одну из самых молодых команд в NBA.

P.S. Кстати, в прошлом сезоне команда тоже была пятой. С тем составом игроков, которые покинули команду прошлым летом.

Уже шесть или семь звонков я оставил на моем автоответчике и звонки продолжают поступать.

Был небольшой перерыв, но сейчас снова сезон.

В общем, жулики всех мастей и, как я понимаю, сейчас у них снова сезон.

Miles treated Geronimo as a prisoner of war and acted promptly to remove Geronimo first to Fort Bowie, then to the railroad at Bowie Station, Arizona where he and 27 other Apaches were sent off to join the rest of the Chiricahua tribe which has been previously exiled to Florida.^[33] This prompt action prevented the Arizona civil authorities from intervening to arrest and try Geronimo for the death of the many Americans who had been killed during the previous decades of raiding.^[34][35] The Chiricahuas remained at Fort Pickens in Florida until 1888 when they were relocated to Mt. Vernon Barracks in Alabama.^[36] In 1894 the Chiricahuas, including Geronimo were relocated at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where they built villages scattered around the post based on kindred groups.^[37] Geronimo, like other Apaches, was given a plot of land on which he took up farming activities.^[38]

In 1898 Geronimo was part of a Chiricahua delegation from Fort Sill to The Trans-Mississippi International Exposition in Omaha, Nebraska. They created a sensation and brought the crowds along the parade route to their feet.^[40] Later that same week Geronimo met with the President and made a moving request for the Chiricahuas at Fort Sill to be relieved of their status as prisoners of war, and allowed to return to their homeland in Arizona. President Roosevelt refused, referring to the continuing animosity in Arizona for the deaths of civilian men, women and children associated with Geronimos raids during the prolonged Apache Wars.^[41][42]

Geronimo died at the Fort Sill hospital in 1909.^[43] He was still a prisoner of war. He is buried at the Fort Sill Indian Agency Cemetery surrounded by the graves of relatives and other Apache prisoners of war.^[44]
