The Old Town is continually being restored and reconstructed. Last year, the Krakowskie Przedmiesce or Krakow Street underwent a massive redesign and is now a huge granite-paved pedestrian-preferred precinct that links most of the important landmarks of old Warsaw.

Plaques like this are plentiful in Warsaw commemorating sites where Nazi forces murdered people in the streets - these were called lapanki or round-ups and were used to terrify people during the occupation.
Warsaw's parks - Saski, Krasinski, Lazienki, Wilanow etc - are amazing, among the best in Europe and need no preface or explanation.
