This was the City Hall area, well, only the front of it for now. I came back to shoot the other side up from the Broad st when I came back from the Old City.
The masonic temple
I call it the statue of feces
Comcast towers over everything, from this point you'd think that downtown is just a couple of buildings.
Nice density
And we start our walk towards the old city
Subway entrances are weird, there's no visible pole with a letter M on it, so unless you're local, you might miss it
Turn right from Market st and we arrive at Washington square
The center of old town where several buildings from 1700's survive to this day
Fat squirrels
The order of some of these pictures is sometimes a bit random
Second bank of the United States
I don't think cars should be allowed here...
Some British probably bought an apartment here to annoy Americans
This is an even smaller street that is perpendicular to Elfreth's Alley, interesting place
I thought this was pretty cool
If you follow that tiny street you end up here, which looks like someones backyard... or was it someones backyard?
Back to the "main" street
That's the 2nd street at the end of the alley, usually I would say those are small buildings (probably from 1920's) but compared to these tiny ones they look quite large.
Looking back towards downtown, I will now start moving back there through old residential districts.
The Betsy's House where the American flag was conceived.
Citys tallest skyscraper the comcast center (297 meters tall) pops out of nowhere
The first stock exchange of the U.S. if I'm not mistaken
These information things are great, so convenient and they're all over the city
That's Benjamin Franklins grave
A lot of important people from early American history are buried here
Benjamin himself
I bought one of these flags
This building would fit in much better in the downtown
Interesting Greek Church
Now we're walking out of the Old City through Washington square and going towards the Downtown, but this time instead of taking a commercial street (the Market st) I took what I think was Locust or Spruce street.
It was a surprisingly nice residential street with often almost Parisian style buildings, but also Georgian and others. From time to time a tiny and very old looking street would appear at an perpendicular angle, similar to the previously mentioned and shown Elfreth's alley.
That's a big ass vacuum cleaner
Lonely bugger
We're back to the City Hall area but from the north now (or at least from the area that I percept as the north, it very well could be the south)
Interesting modern building
Beautiful boxy building
The way Comcast is seen from almost anywhere reminds me of CN Tower in Toronto, if you're a guest to the city just use it to navigate yourself around
New tower rises
This chap offered to pose when he saw me carrying a camera. I thought it was rather unusual, but then several other people also did it, must be a really friendly city or perhaps I look very friendly
And that's me
This has to be one of my favorite buildings in Philly
Must be bloody expensive
I want to live here
This is the interior of that modern building with a rounded roof
