Gingham
This is a fun pattern stitch, reminiscent of old gingham cloth. You must keep the yarn very loose across the 5 slipped sts or the knitting will pucker. If you are using a small number of sts you can knit back and forth on double points; a larger number of sts will required working back and forth on circulars. Please note the directions at the end of the row to turn or slip sts to other end of needle.

Row 1 (RS): With Color B, k1, *(sl1 wyif, sl1 wyib) twice, sl1 wyif, k5; rep from *, end k1. Slip sts to other end of needle.
Row 2: With Color A, k1, *k5, sl5 wyib; rep from *, end k1. Turn.
Row 3: With Color B, k1, *p5, (sl1 wyif, sl1 wyib) twice, sl1 wyif; rep from *, end k1. Slip sts to other end of needle.
Row 4: With Color A, k1, *sl5 wyif, p5; rep from *, end k1. Turn.

1 ряд цвет-Б, 1 лиц, *(одну снять нить впереди, 1 снять нить позади)-2 раза, 1 снять нить впереди, 5 лиц-повторять*, в конце-1 лиц. Перести все петли обратно на лев. спицу.
2 ряд цвет-А, 1 лиц, *5 лиц, 5 петель снять нить позади;повторять*,в конце-1 лиц.повернуть.
3 ряд цвет- Б, 1 лиц, *5 изн, (одну снять нить перед работой, одну снять нить позади) 2 раза)-одну снять нить впереди-повторять*, в конце 1 лиц. Перевздеть все петли обратно на лев. спицу.

Woven Transverse Herringbone
This stitch is dense so it's a good choice for purses, hot pads, and even mittens. Note that the stitches are always slipped with the yarn on the right side.
