The cartridge .22 LR or .22 Long Rifle calibre of 5,6 mm is created by firm «J. Stevens Arm and Tool Company» in 1887 has very long history. It is remarkable, what exactly this cartridge is recognised the most mass and most often by used in the world. And as, undoubtedly, is the world record-holder on number of the made and spent cartridges. All has begun in 1845 with Flobert's cartridge for room shooting which represented a percussion cap in a copper glass and bird shot. At various times there was more than ten kinds of a cartridge of 5,6 mm with various length of a sleeve. However till now in manufacture remained .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Long Rifle and the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire. Now the biggest distribution has .22 Long Rifle. The versions made now, are equipped 2,60 gr. bullet which initial speed makes about 320 km/s, and energy – 140 joule. At use of the weapon with long a barrel of 152 mm (6 inches). In rifles initial speed is more on the average on 60 km/s. Effective range of shooting makes about 150 metres .22 LR it is popular not only among sportsmen and it is simple fans of shooting, it is used by hunters for a craft of a small fur animal, and also with a view of shooting of small rodents. The basic advantages of cartridge .22 LR: low cost, very small recoil, a quiet sound of a shot and a high accuracy. The basic lack is low power and absence of stopping power of a bullet.
