Geographically, English is the most widespread language on earth. It is widely spoken on six continents, and is the official language, or one of the official languages, in 55 countries.
400-500 million people speak it as their native language (second only to Mandarin Chinese, which has about 700 million native speakers). In addition, roughly the same number speak English as their second language, or use it in their daily lives for business, study and so on.
In other words, one in every 6-7 people on our planet regularly uses some sort of English - and the percentage is growing all the time.
The following are a few of the many reasons why English is so widely spoken.
* English is the official language in many of Britain's former colonies, such as America, Australia and New Zealand.
* The economic power of Britain in the 18th and 19th centuries, and of the US in the 20th century, helped to make English the language of world trade.
* Entertainment has helped to spread the use of English, because of the worldwide popularity of English-language films, TV programmes and pop music.

Есть несколько принципов, следуя которым у тебя в жизни будет складываться все просто замечательно.

Правило 1

Не бойся заводить новые знакомства, заговаривать первой с неизвестными тебе ранее людьми при любых обстоятельствах. В современном обществе очень важно уметь завязывать отношения и иметь активную жизненную позицию. Для того чтобы поддержание разговора для тебя не было проблемой – постоянно расширяй свой кругозор.

Правило 2

Окружай себя интересными и успешными людьми. Частички их удачи будут передаваться и тебе.

Правило 3

Увлекайся всем новым: не бойся пробовать экстремальные виды спорта, экзотические блюда, экспериментируй со своей внешностью, осваивай новые профессии.

Правило 4

Не расстраивайся по пустякам, не раздражайся из-за мелочей, помни, что трусливый или раздраженный человек никогда не привлечет к себе удачи.

"Okay, okay! I take it back!" Ладно, ладно, беру свои слова обратно.
"Therapy is expensive. Popping bubble wrap is cheap. You choose." Психотерапия - это дорого. Лопать пузырьки на упаковке - дёшево. Выбирайте.
"Why don't you try practicing random acts of intelligence and senseless acts of self-control?" Почему бы вам не попробовать случайно проявить интеллект или совершить совершенно бесссмысленную попытку контролировать себя?
"Do they ever shut up on your planet?" На вашей планете когда-нибудь молчат?
"Back off! You're standing in my aura." Назад! Вы стоите на моей ауре!
"Don't worry. I forgot your name too." Не беспокойтесь, я тоже забыл как вас зовут.
"Not all men are annoying. Some are dead." Не все люди меня раздражают. Некоторые мертвы.
"Wait...I'm trying to imagine you with a personality." Не мешайте... Я пытаюсь представить, что вы - личность.
"You look like shit. Is that the style now?" Вы выглядите как дерьмо. Это теперь в моде, да?
"Aw, did I step on your poor little bitty ego?" Ой, я наступил на ваше бедное маленькое эго?
"I'm not tense, just terribly, terribly alert." Я не напряжен, просто очень, очень внимателен.
