Princess Mononoke (1997)- «Принцесса Мононоке»

Настоящий шедевр, уже классика. Это самый дорогой фильм в истории аниме - 2,3 млрд. йен (примерно двадцать миллионов долларов). Он же - самый кассовый фильм за всю историю Японии.

Средневековая Япония, середина XV века. В стране идет междоусобная война. Молодой воин из племени эмиси по имени Аситака (эмиси - «варвары», населявшие север острова Хонсю, в реальности были ассимилированы уже к X веку) отправляется в лес великого божества Сисигами, чтобы очиститься от проклятия, так как. Аситака для спасения своей деревни убил обезумевшего Бога Кабанов. На границе леса он находит поселение сталеваров, возглавляемое харизматичной Эбоси-годзэн. Вырубание леса для сталеваров - единственный способ сохранить независимость от окружающих феодалов (за счет торговли металлом). Поселение Эбоси - дом для прокаженных и бывших преступников и проституток. Людям противостоят животные леса и их божества во главе с Богиней-волчицей и ее воспитанницей - Сан, «Принцессой-мононокэ» («мононокэ» по-японски - «разгневанный дух»). Оба лагеря защищают свою правду, и ни один из них не может сдаться или отступить... Третья сила в конфликте - шпионы императора, желающие использовать ситуацию, чтобы заполучить голову Сисигами, которая может дать бессмертие ее обладателю.

Фильм завораживает, околдовывает своей атмосферой времени, когда чудеса были возможны, боги жили среди людей и в лесах еще жили Духи Деревьев. На фоне красивейших пейзажей разворачивается другая картина, написанная красками Добра и Зла. Что есть Добро и что есть Зло - вот, на мой взгляд, основной вопрос сказки. Любой сказки. Здесь не найти ни добрых ни злых, ни плохих ни хороших. Каждый несёт в себе собственную Правду, собственную систему координат для измерения добра и зла. И хотя часто добро одним оборачивается злом для других, нельзя сказать, чья правда правдивие и правильнее. Поселок несет гибель лесу, а Лес постоянно наступает на поселок. Созиданию соседствует разрушение, а жизни - смерть. И смерть тоже не есть абсолютное зло. Иной раз она - добро. Иной раз она - лишь начало новой жизни.

A prince is infected with an incurable disease by a possessed boar/god. He is to die unless he can find a cure to rid the curse from his body. It seems that his only hope is to travel to the far east and find the source of the evil. When he arrives, he finds himself in the middle of a battle between the animal inhabitants of the forest and an iron mining town that is exploiting and killing them. Leading the forest animals in the battle is a human raised by wolves; the Princess Mononoke.

Plot Outline In the middle of her family's move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and monsters; where humans are changed into animals; and a bathhouse for these creatures.
Plot Synopsis: Chihiro and her family are on their way to their new house in the suburbs when her father decides to take a shortcut along a lonely-looking dirt road. After getting out of the car and walking along a path for a while, they discover an open-air restaurant filled with food but with no workers or customers present. Mom and Dad don't hesitate to sit down and dig in, but Chihiro senses danger and refuses. As night falls, she is terrified to see the area fill with faceless spirits, but when she runs to find her parents, she discovers that they have been turned into pigs. She is found by a mysterious boy named Haku, who promises to help her. He gets her a job working in a nearby building, which turns out to be a bathhouse for the thousands of Japan's gods and spirits. Though the work is hard and the people strange, she does as well as she can. Her parents, however, are still waiting in the hotel's stockyard, and Chihiro must find a way to break the spell on them before they end up as the main course of some guest's dinner.
