yuioiuy (Tech-Math-Metal-Core) все записи автора Last year I received a promo from Car Bomb with three tracks on it that lasted under seven minutes. Those three tracks managed to convince me of the fact that these are some sick fuckers, and that The Dillinger Escape Plan is going to have to give all they’ve got wit their next effort, should these guys release a full-length album. Well, that last thing has finally happened in the form of Centralia.

And as you can see by the score I gave this record, this shit fucking kicks ass!!! It doesn’t get more complicated, (dis)rhythmical, technical and progressive than this stuff any time soon. I really felt like bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Cephalic Carnage and The Locust were the end of the rhythmical/technical line, boy was I wrong. Car Bomb have managed to create the ultimate fusion between The Dillinger Escaple Plan and Meshuggah, and anyone familiar with what those two bands do knows that you’re in for one hell of a ride when listening to this album. Believe me, it’s true.

This album is the finest among the collection of Relapse Records’ new upcoming releases, taking care of bands like The End and such with ease. I must have played it over thirty times by now and still it doesn’t bore me. How can it; it’s so fucking hard to keep up with!!! Also I let various people with various musical interests listen to it, and everybody was flabbergasted and wanted to know when the album was coming out. The only people with more difficulty listening to this were people that don’t play instruments.

Well for the music, what can I say. The background story for this band is already stated in my previous review of their promo, and those three tracks are also included in this release. You might think that because the music is so complicated it can’t groove anymore, believe me, from time to time it does. But they keep fooling you rhythmically, you have to keep paying attention to what’s going on. Vocally as much variation is included as musically, which is a difficult issue with most of the bands in these extremities, but this guy can actually sing (which he rarely does by the way) and uses a lot of effects and different screams and such. Amazing. This is definitely no background music. And after the about thirty minutes are over, you are actually mentally tired for a while.

To conclude this, if you’re into math/progressive/avant-garde/polyrhythmic/whatever weird metal shit and you haven’t heard of this band yet, be quick to catch up, you’re missing something huge. I’m very curious to seeing this performed live and I wonder if it can get any worse than this. I hope not, because my brain will explode. Definitely a must have for Fantômas fans with a taste for metal. Just awesome, freaking awesome!!!

Биография:
Одна из самых интересных шведских тяжелых команд "Meshuggah" образовалась в 1987 году в городе Уме. Основателями группы принято считать гитариста Фредрика Тордендала, басиста Петера Нордина и вокалиста и гитариста Йенса Кидмана. Возможно это и не совсем так, потому что состав несколько раз тасовался, но именно эти ребята записали в 1989 году дебютный EP-шник "Psykisk Testbild". В музыке этой пластинки прослеживалось явное влияние "Metallica". К 1991 году музыкантам удалось подписать контракт с немецким лейблом "Nuclear blast", а, кроме того, в "Meshuggah" появился официальный барабанщик Томас Хааке. Так что первый альбом, "Contradictions Collapse", создавался при его участии. Композиции стали более совершенны по структуре и ритмике, и в то же время заметно удлинились.

К сожалению, лейбл не организовал никакого промоушена, и тиражи пластинки были очень скромны. В результате следующие сессии состоялись лишь через три года. К тому времени Кидман сконцентрировался на вокале, а свою гитару вручил Мертену Хагстрому.

В обновленном составе "Meshuggah" выпустили очень удачный EP "None" и собирались записать еще один, но тут Фредрик умудрился оттяпать себе палец на руке, а вскоре и Томас повредил руку. Из-за этих обстоятельств выход "Selfcaged" был отложен до 1995 года. Тогда же группа вновь начала выступать с концертами. Во время американского тура в компании с "Machine head" у Нордина обострились проблемы со здоровьем, и его пришлось отправить в Швецию. Басист "Machine head" предложил свои услуги, но "Мессуги" отказались и заканчивали гастроли вчетвером. По возвращении в Европу вакансию заполнил Густаф Хелм, присоединившийся к "Meshuggah" на шоу в Гамбурге.

В 1996-м Фредрик начал записывать сольник, а также принял участие в проекте "Mats & Morgan". На следующий год "Meshuggah" перебрались в Стокгольм, где записали очередной EP, включавший в себя один новый трек и три версии старых песен. В 1998-м Хелм сменил статус "сессионщика" на "постоянщика". В том же году вышел в свет альбом "Chaosphere", принесший музыкантам грандиозный успех.

О группе считали своим долгом написать многие музыкальные издания. Туры по США (со "Slayer") и по Скандинавии (с "Entombed") прошли очень удачно. Зашевелился наконец-то и "Nuclear blast", переиздавший ранние работы коллектива. Основательно помотавшись с гастролями по Штатам и Европе, "Meshuggah" задумали выпустить в свет компиляцию из редких треков, дополнив ее видеоклипами. Однако из-за лоховского лейбла на первом тираже компакт-дисков видео отсутствовало, и его пришлось печатать заново. Летом 2001 года из-за внутренних неурядиц команду покинул Густаф Хелм, вновь оставив своих коллег вчетвером. Однако это не помешало им прокатиться по Штатам в компании с "Tool" и принять участие в "Оззфесте".

Концерты эти стали хорошим трамплином для взлета очередного альбома группы. "Nothing" действительно получился самым профессиональным, брутальным и мощным релизом "Meshuggah". Несмотря на постоянное наплевательское к себе отношение со стороны "Nuclear blast" музыканты прославили лейбл, став первой его группой получившей солидную рецензию в "Rolling stone" и прорвавшейся в Топ 200 "Billboard" (№ 165).

Shoemaker levy 9 is a hardcore band from the North of France. Its personality is marked by the many musical influences of each member of the line up. Its universe is located at the very frontiers of the sonorous extreme. In the September of 2002, the band was formed under the name of Down for Life. The band has evolved, and obtained its first on stage experiences through about forty gigs in France, and abroad. Down For Life recorded an EP in February 2000 called "It's always the same old Story", and had 250 copies pressed. This production was distributed and reviewed on specialised networks. The band obtained an initial experience of recording and established links with labels and distributors. In September 2004, the band welcomed a new drummer. It took advantage of this change to choose a new band name more suitable for the evolved style of syncopated and abrasive hardcore. Down for life became Shoemaker levy 9. The band worked at creating a new performance, and in June 2005 recorded its first in-studio album, "Pantheon". This first album mixes the more contemporary aspects of extreme music through a mathematical and chaotic hardcore. This mix of extremes gives birth to a meeting of grindcore, new jazz, and electro.

Who knew what to expect from a band called Shoemaker Levy 9? What the fuck? Digging around on the net a little reveals that "Shoemaker Levy 9" was the name of a comet that crashed into Jupiter in the early 90's, but that doesn't get us any closer to wrapping our heads around this demented French band's combination of ridiculous Orthrelm-style spazz|shred action with art-damaged, Mike Patton-esque metal (down to some of the vocal stylings, as a matter of fact), 100% freaked grindcore, and cool electronic/ambient/electro/soundtrack passages. It's a cranium-splintering exercise in extreme fretboard gymnastics and impossible stop-on-a-dime changes and technical, often jazzy flourishes, with all sorts of horror-synth breaks and quick spurts of stripped down hardcore and glimpses of weird moody pop, totally fucked and inventive and rocking from start to finish. Definitely recommended for fans of dizzying tech-blast (The Dillinger Escape Plan,Ion Dissonance,Into The Moat,Meshuggah,etc), modern spazz action (Daughters, The Locust), Cephalic Carnage style math-grind, and Fantomas' schizo assemblages. Hell yeah.

Био: Morgan Agren с 4 лет играет на ударных, родившись в Umeå, Sweden, Мистер Ågren показал себя выдающимся талантом в своем возврасте.
Публично он начал выступать в возраст семь, и в конечном счете присоединился к 'силам' Mats Oberg в 1981. Позже в 1984 они сформировали Zappsteetoot,(оркестр) интернационально известный за выполнение музыки Заппы. Так началась их совместная деятельность. Отличительная черта группы в том, что клавишник Mats Oberg слепой, в добавок инвалид...

(Tony Saputo - voice, keys, noise, and a slob), (Josh Bauman - guitar and monk), (Drew Button - drums and jeff foxworthy impressions) (Jon Truesdale - bb-b-b-b-bass) Эти четыре человека изменили понятие экстримальной музыки в корне. Члены Lye By Mistake действуют как безумные бармены, подхлестывающие предварительно непонятые катастрофические смеси шума, мелодии, и хаоса. Группа разрывает мозг своими безумными партиями плавно переходящими в мелодичные ритмы. Вобщем Lye By Mistake одна из групп разбавляющая серость нашей современной тяжелой музыки!)
