Naoki Urasawa has lauched a new series titled
Billy Bat [info here]. I am most pleased with the story's setting.

You can't imagine my DELIGHT upon seeing this page, that 3rd panel, it's clearly post-war Japan Showa era 1950-something I don't even need an infobox
I was staring at this for a good five minutes before going to the next page only to have it all confirmed:

YESSSSSSSSSSSS

Here again for good measure sorry but I didn't know I could fangirl this much over a bunch of houses.
I do say that a historical flair is closer to my interests than sci-fi (though Pluto counts as retro-styled as well).

Don't we all want some old dudes in snazzy suits to barge in through your door just to tell you that your work is awesome!!!

♥
Otherwise I liked the colorful introduction to the story, animal characters are cute and drawn with swift pen strokes. The comic format was different than what Urasawa usually does, should he have continued the story in this fashion he would have needed some more adjusting /useless observations https://users.livejournal.com/-ri/163609.html
