Twilight Headcannon

Finally got around to doing it folks! I'm updating my headcannons of the mane six!

I'm really fond of the old ones, but I've learned and improved a lot since doing them. At this point, both the technical aspect of the old drawings and the designs themselves have been bugging me for a while. I started with Twilight specifically because I had already done most of the design work for the new version.

I've done two illustrations where I played around with her design, and I based this on both of them:

And I even had a base for the pre-ascension unicorn Twi, in the form of this simplified version I did for animation!

So between those, I had the idea of what I wanted pretty well nailed down.

The unicorn version here is season 1-3 Twilight, but the alicorn version is much later. Possibly late season 8 or season nine, or even some point during the time skip before The Last Problem. This version of Twilight has grown a fair bit over the few years or so it's been since she ascended, and the stars in her mane have come in, but she isn't the full-height adult alicorn seen in the epilog of the series. At the end of season three, immediately after ascending, she actually doesn't look all that different from unicorn Twi. Her proportions change slightly to accommodate the wings, but she's only slightly taller and her mane hasn't changed yet.

A note about the underside of her wings, cause I was too laze to draw theme here.

They match the feathers on the inside of her far leg, and glow a soft pink-orange color.

Hope you like it! I'll be doing AJ next. I want to do her next for my animation series, but I'm having trouble locking down her design. Figure I may as well go all in and get it worked out in headcannon form. a
