Bruce decides to open up a little to Sunny and Skye and immediately gets punished for it. Goddamn dogs. This is why Bruce doesn't like to leave his room! >:C
(Tbf, Skye and Sunny do find baby Bruce extremely adorable....just in a sad, hilarious kinda way, that's all. They feel the same way about current age Bruce. He's sad....and hilarious.)
(to my newcomers, Bruce and Sunny are roommates at a boarding house full of animal people. Skye is Sunny's girlfriend, and is over so frequently Bruce wishes she'd pay rent. Keep holding your breath, Brucie!)
have some notes:
-Skye is shown at 1 year old in her baby pic, and she's definitely waving at her mommy. Skye's mother is a bit of a crazy pageant mom (think Toddlers and Tiaras) and naturally subjected her litter of five pups to many stuffy beauty pageants. Skye won Dogma County's "Best In Show" Princessa Pup Pageant three years in a row, which has done wonders for her self-esteem as an adult, and has definitely not left her with a compulsive need to be perfect at everything, nor crippling anxiety issues. Skyes doing just fine! &..Just look how cute she was as a puppy! Shes fine. This is fine. C
-Mason (Sunny) is just one day old in his puppy pic. Look how tiny! Like all newborn pups, Sunny couldnt see yet, but he could recognize his mother by smell, and would squeak every time she entered the room. Dogs normally have litters, but Sunnys parents only produced a rare, single pup. He is the little golden apple of their eyes, and their love for him is present everywhere, even in his name (Mason....My son).
-Baby Bruce! He's about six months old here, but not six months in the traditional sense. Marsupials differ from standard (placental) mammals in that they're only pregnant for about a month. They then pop out a teeny, extremely underdeveloped wriggly pink fetus-looking thing about the size of a jellybean. Said fleshy jellybean somehow makes its way into Mom's pouch, where it hangs out for the next few months to complete its development. So when I say Bruce is six months old, I mean he was conceived seven months ago, not born six months ago. He is very young and very tiny and probably weighs about the same as an apple. His mother, Fey, is ridiculously proud of her lil uggo jellybean and thinks he (and Silver) are the most beautiful babies in the world! All other babies should give up! >:0
(Silver disagrees. I imagine he was initially hyped to meet his new baby brother, but upon actually meeting this gross, bald, baby Voldemort looking creature he demanded his mum put that thing back where it came from or SO HELP HIM-)
Here's a fun tidbit
came up with. Rather than birthdays, kangaroos, wallabies, and other marsupials celebrate Emergence Day (also known as Pouch Day), which is the day their precious, fleshy little bebbeh first fully emerges from Mom's pouch to have a look around. It's a very special milestone, and the baby is not to be rushed. This day is usually a very emotional event for the family as it's the first time they get to actually hold their babies. This is also usually when they name their children. Bruce was officially named on his emergence day as is tradition, but his parents couldnt decide on a name for Silver (ie: hated each other's picks and refused to budge) until he fuzzed up with his lovely fur.
Another note- All marsupials, even adults, are naturally soothed by warm dark places. It subconsciously reminds them of the safety of the pouch. Whenever Bruce feels anxious, he burrows himself a little hidey-hole in his blankets so that only his nose can be seen poking out. It's silly, but it always helps him feel less alone.
