Unlike his baby brother (a whiptail wallaby), Silver is an eastern grey kangaroo, the second largest of all marsupials. Silv is a heavyweight kickboxing champion, with multiple titles under his belt. He got his beginning in back alley brawls (hence the scars- Roos don't bind their claws for casual fights) and eventually managed to break into the professional circuit with the relentless coaching of his dad. Silver is very, very strong, with his kicks delivering a bone-shattering force of 750 pounds. He can kick hard enough to rupture organs. Because of this, unlike most herbivores, Silver has zero fear or unease around carnivores, and why not? They oughta be afraid of him. Silver's strength and confidence make him an interesting foil to his little brother.
notes:
-Silv is a poor listener and typically responds to Bruce's problems by asking him "What're you bitching about? C'mon, we're young and the world is our oyster, let's go get shitfaced!". He likes to take action, not sit around talking about feelings. He is aware of this flaw however and is trying to be a little better about it. Silver secretly admires how Bruce can listen to his problems and validate his feelings, agh, his wimpy little bro is just so damned smart sometimes. Silv would never admit it, but secretly, he's Bruce's biggest fan.
-Silver suspects Bruce is gay because Bruce has never shown interest in girls&or anyone, really. He used to make fun of him for it, but it's evolved to a lighter sort of teasing. Basically anytime Bruce comes to him with news, "Oy Silv, I have something to tell you-", Silver responds, "You're gay, I already know. It's okay bro love who you love". He's being genuine, but because of his general smarminess, it always comes off like he's still making fun of Bruce, so Bruce tells him to fuck off.
-Silver started learning the guitar as a way to pick up chicks, but found himself genuinely loving it. He often plays in his spare time and has gotten pretty decent at it, but feels too self-conscious to play before anyone except Bruce.
-Silver is not as invulnerable as he seems. A lifetime of taking blows to the head have left him with a degree of traumatic brain injury. This typically manifests as frequent headaches, difficult concentrating, and occasionally, seizures....ranging from minor (simple partial) to grand mal (tonic-clonic). Silver hates this. His epilepsy is triggered by overexertion, dehydration, and sleep deprivation, all things that are unfortunately chronic to his lifestyle. He hates weakness of any kind, and moreover, the disorientation the seizures induce leave him feeling helpless and afraid. He is ashamed of his condition and hides it, which inevitably led to Bruce being terrified the first time his brother collapsed in front of him without warning.
When Silver came to, he was embarrassed and upset nearly to the point of tears, but Bruce, to his surprise, caught him in an You-fucking-moron-I'm-just-happy-you're-okay hug and assured him everything would be alright. Bruce was of course not exactly happy that his brother had been concealing a chronic health condition, but something in him was deeply affected by the revelation that even his smug, almighty bastard brother needs to be taken care of sometimes. Bruce has since become an expert on Silver's condition, helping him through his seizures when they happen and urging Silver to take better care of himself. Silver meanwhile is grappling with the fact that it may very well be time for him to retire from his dangerous profession. It's a thought that makes him anxious, because if he can't protect his title anymore, if he can no longer meet his father's standards- then what can he do? What else is there? Who is he, outside of kickboxing? Silver doesn't know, and he's afraid to find out.
~~
I'm rebooting him. His original jerk jock characterization just wasn't working for me (and his design was too saturated and uggo), so I decided to mellow him out. I drew him and Silver (the roo dudes!) so y'all can see the differences between the two kangaroos.Logan Springer
-tall boy, 7ft. In his early thirties. No longer a kickboxer, now a professional triathlete and long-distance runner. Logan can high-speed hippety-hop for days if need be. Hes been known to traverse entire countries on foot (on paw?).
-coat is kept neatly trimmed, takes good care of himself, relentlessly religious about exercise and health and tries to get others to be as well
-makes home-brewed kombucha for his neighbors that may qualify as a public safety hazard
-a feminist, if you can believe it. somewhat misinformed/confused about various women's issues, but very passionate about the cause
-the youngest and only guy out of a mob of older sisters. Their names are Teagan, Megan, Morgan, and Reagan, and Logan is close with all of them. He also adores his tough mother, who raised all five siblings on her own when her husband died.
-dumb as a sack of potatoes, yet sometimes drops random bits of incredible insight
-more sensitive than he appears, not afraid to cry
-honest, says what he feels
-aggressively nice in a way that is off-putting to most
-wants you to join his gym
-chest bump/headbutts to show affection
Silver Abalone
-shorter (6ft). Champion heavyweight kickboxer. In his early thirties.
-scruffy, thinks ladies dig the i just rolled outta bed look
-fluffy cheeks run in the family, thus his nickname for Bruce may or may not be "Foofie"
-has a strong Australian accent, just like his brother. He and Bruce both pronounce his name as "Silvah".
-self-absorbed, smarmy, very high opinion of himself. Insecure about his intelligence tho and may try to start a fight you make him feel dumb. he'll also kick your ass if you pick on Bruce, only he's allowed to do that
-loves intensely and deeply but very bad at showing it. no clue how to be vulnerable
-tries to seem cool and aloof, actually a very emotional idiot
-can be a bully
4.) I found myself thinking how Logan and Silver might get along if they ever met, and....yeah theyd be best friends, the bestest bros that ever broed. I started doodling what their dynamic might be like, and wellllll Im pretty predictable, haha. Although the above doodle is pretty shippy, I think they work well romantically or platonically. Their friendship is verrry intense, all flying tackles and chest bumps and sparring and loud drunk squabbles over football teams. I imagine Bruce wasn't happy to learn that his brother had somehow befriended his most annoying neighbor, and even more annoyed that Silver tasked Logan with looking out for Bruce while he's away at boxing matches. It seems that instead of one annoying older brother figure, Bruce now has two, and they both have to take turns with the one brain cell between them. Typical interaction between the Roo Dudes:
Silver, to a rowdy bar patron: You wanna take this outside bro?? Cuz me and my buddy here both majored in Ass Kicking!!
Logan, backing Silv up: Yeah!!
Logan: .....
Logan: wait bro don't u remember i got my associate's in women's studies
some silly fluff from
I thought y'all might enjoy:
So they first met when Silver first visited Bruce at the boarding house and grabbed his brother in a headlock. Logan was just about home on his jog when he heard his best little buddy's snarls and oh no there is a big brute attacking him! Logan shouts, both brothers swing around to look at him, and Logan promptly runs face first into a street sign, being completely dazzled by the most beautiful male he had ever seen. Silver and Bruce rush over to check on him, Silver pulls him up to sitting position, and....well. Let's just say it's not often the sight of eyes greener than Silver's favorite sports jersey leaves the buck unexpectedly speechless. Listen, they're dumb bois. I'm not saying this would be a fast or easy path to an actual relationship, but I am saying actual infatuation was planted from the start.
Weird feelings aside these two are true bro soulmates and became best friends from that moment on and they are BROS and have the most random misadventures and for the love of god they need adult supervision. Buuuuut yeah....Logan being openly bisexual and not afraid at all to give his boy an honest compliment or a flirtatious remark gives Silver some things to think about as they get closer. Silver is bi too, but unaware of it, and with his father policing his every move Silver simply never figured dating a dude was even an option for him. Like...that's allowed? That's a thing? A bro can just date his bro??? Bromantically?? Homies dating homies? Homiesexually?? Why didn't anyone tell him sooner??? >:0
and another one:
Years in the future.....
Silver: I fucking love you bro. It felt like someone punched out my heart when I first met you, and now instead of my heart theres just a bloody hole in my chest&.filled by you, homes.
Logan: *sniffling and gripping Silver's hands* I feel the same fucking way, dude! I-*chokes back a sob* You're the feeling I get when I run too far without water. Dizzy and like I want to pass out, but in a sort of fun way, y'know? I see you and I want to run forever.
Silver: *blinks hard and grins wobbly* Bro...I was no homo before you.
Logan: *tenderly presses their faces together* and now you're all homo
Silver: *makes a happy sound* All the homo with you, buddy.
Best man Bruce watching them exchange their wedding vows in disbelief, whispers to self: What the actual fuck&..
