If I were to rank any of these ThankYouRoger drawings based on production value, this is without a doubt the best one of the entire set! Just the sheer scale of this drawing puts it right up there with Sega Vs. Capcom and Cheerleading Penball 2: Gumball Is Amazing and SMG-3000: Louie (So Long and Goodnight) in terms of how high the ambition is and how well I pulled it off if I say so myself! Two entire separate weekends were spent on this tribute drawing I made for well-known illustrator and animator Tyson Hesse, who worked with every single game/cartoon/comic IP represented here, including two comics he created called Boxer Hockey and Diesel at the top corners.

At the centerpiece, obviously, is Team Sonic, because many know Hesse for his work with the Sonic series, including Sonic Mania Adventures, Team Sonic Racing Overdrive, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie when Paramount announced its intention to redesign him again after that... atrocity of a first redesign, additional work on a few official comics (including pencil work for an issue of the Mega Man crossover Worlds Unite), and even before all of that, he made the parody comic Hedgehog the Sonic! Yeah, who remembers that one? Speaking of remembering his old works, I also distinctly remember him doing additional work on a comic miniseries for The Amazing World of Gumball, which hyped me up as both a Gumball fan and a Sonic fan! This is the fourth and final Gumball crossover I have for the ThankYouRoger event, which Ive spent this entire month on with Sonic drawings as a tribute to his now previous voice actor, Roger Craig Smith.

Outside of Sonic, Mega Man, Gumball, and the two comics he created, he also did extra comic work for Invader Zim (he was also a storyboard artist for the Netflix movie Enter the Florpus), Adventure Time (which Ive literally just started giving a second chance to on HBO Max right after typing this, like how I gave Chowder an actual chance back in 2012 on Cartoon Planet; if this drawing gets to 50 favorites, Ill consider doing more Adventure Time drawings on this profile; bring this to 100 faves, and Ill even take it a step further by drawing Steven Universe for you guys), and Bravest Warriors. Hes also served as an animator for the 2D fighting game Skullgirls (which I was just looking at the other day as a potential addition to my Nintendo Switch library), an artist for the character Akiho Matsuo for the dating sim Namco High, a colorist for the IDW Publishing oneshot Rotten Apple, and I even went as far as including the character Frolie from Very Important House (which he was a storyboard artist for) despite it unfortunately never having been released! That is how dedicated I was to paying tribute to this prominent, amazing artist, when I decide to include even stuff Ive never heard of before doing research (specifically those last three I mentioned and both of his original comic creations). I didnt include the other Sega and Capcom games that were in Worlds Unite because they werent really the headliners of that like Sonic and Mega Man were.

So, thats my grand scale tribute to one of the most prominent figures in the official Sonic community, and all of the other accomplishments he has to his name! Im honestly surprised that it only took me two separate weekends to draw all of this; if I made this on paper, I probably wouldve spent, like, a month on it like I did with the original version of Sega Vs. Capcom back in 2016. But just like the 2019 remake of that drawing, the power of Sketchbook, ever since it went free sometime before I went looking for Drawing Desk replacements on my iPad, strikes again and helps me put out yet another one of my personal favorites to have worked on!
