Blackest Night was one of my favorite DC events. All the stories leading up to it were good as well, but it seriously felt like DC's version of Secret Wars. Although Nekron was the actual big baddie, this guy played a "hand" in the events that unfolded. This guy has always been a joke in the Green Lantern comics so to see him taken seriously was a change of pace. I wasn't a big fan of his costume design tbh, he looks like a generic super villain like one you would see as a default template in a create your own hero game or something. I was trying to find a way to make him look more updated and intimidating. I decided to give him a tattered hood and face paint instead of a mask to make him look more like a worshipper of death. I made his hand withered and decaying to better cement the fact that death is on his side. He's the wielder of the black lantern and emissary to death himself, it's Black Hand!
