1000 Years Ago, The Fire Nation sought complete control of the entire world. Fire Lord Sozin already killed one defender of the world, Avatar Roku and he set his sights on exterminating the next one, Aang of the Air Nomads. Sozin would stop at nothing to end the Avatar line, so he set about exterminating all Air Nomads. Luckily, Aang's father Gyatso fled with him to safety. Aang would grow up having to hide who he was, while his people were killed one after the other. Gyatso had friends in the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, and Water Tribes that could aid in training Aang to become a full fledged Avatar. When Aang was 16, he finally mastered all four elements and was ready to stop Sozin, but this would be more of a challenge than Aang ever imagined. Sozin had astronomers looking to the stars for ways to strengthen Fire Benders since they draw their power from the Sun. One discovered that a comet would be passing by the planet and with such an intense source of fire, it would give the Fire Nation the final boost it needed to win the war. On the day of the comet, Aang met Sozin in battle and a clash of elements was fought. Things looked bad for Aang, until the Avatar State activated and Aang finally had the strength to end Sozin's life and finally stop the war. But Aang could not take a life and this opening was all Sozin needed to try and kill Aang. He unleashed an intense fire blast, but Aang wouldn't be harmed. The spirits of former Avatars were there to protect him and since Aang coudn't end Sozin's life, the former Avatars would take him to a place where he could no longer harm the other nation, the Spirit World. With Sozin gone, Aang could finally rest, but this came a horrible time as he was hundreds of feet in the air above the Water Tribe sea. Aang fell into the depths and continued falling until his Flying Bison, Appa, dived to save him. Appa managed to get Aang but the chilling waters made it hard for him to rise up and it looked like the end for Aang and Appa until the former Avatars once again reactivated the Avatar State and controlled Aang, making him form a sphere of ice around the Avatar and Flying Bison, preserving them until the ice could be broken, which wouldn't come until a whole millenia later.
In the modern age, Aang has become an adventurer first and a hero second. The world is very different from where what it once was. Instead of the four nations, it's the Trinity of Nations with the Fire Metropolis, The Earth Empire, and the Water Colonies. Aang has forgotten much of his memories including his past, his mastery of Air Bending, and how to control the other elements. With the help of other heroes like The Painted Lady and The Tribesman, Aang will once again become the world's greatest hero, The Avatar.
Aang lost his staff in the battle with Sozin and now has a high tech compact staff and he even has a new friend with the robo-lemur, M.O.M.O. (Multi-Operational-Mechanical-Organism). Aange also lost much of his Air Nomad clothes and only enough of it was saved to form his signature yellow and orange jacket.
