Description: The Muskox is a large species of Bovid that is native to North America in the northernmost region, specifically northern Greenland and the Canadian Arctic of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, Canada. This animal gets its name from the strong musky odor the male Muskox uses during the mating season to attract a mate during the rutting season. It may have the size, shape, and appearance of a Cow, but the Muskox is actually more closely related to Goats and Sheep than to Cows and Oxen like its name suggests. To keep themselves warm in the harsh freezing climate, Muskox have a thick coat of wool and fur covering their body to keep heat in, some Muskox to become domesticated by Humans for their wool, milk, and meat, the wool being well prized for its length, insulation, and softness, with prices ranging from the 40s to the 80s in value per ounce. Like most Bovids, Muskox have a pair of very strong and sturdy horns on their head, both genders have these horns and are mostly used for combat against attackers and rival males, during the rutting season, bull Muskox have ramming competitions to earn the right to mate, the bulls will back up 20 meters and charge into the other male, Muskox can run at 37 miles per hour, the sound from the horns colliding at this speed can make a sound that can echo for a very long distance. In historic times, Muskox were heavily hunted to the point of severe decline in population, hunting regulations and conservation efforts have helped the species recover in the wild, the current population of wild Muskox now is estimated to be between 80,000 and 125,000 individuals.
Mod: Radical Remake (Aurora Designs)
www.auroradesigns.org/site/dow…Personal Thoughts: I have heard about this animal several times before, but I've never actually seen a Muskox in person before. It would be cool to see one of these animals up close in a zoo, it definitely fits in a North American or Arctic themed area. I also like that it was debuted in the default Zoo Tycoon 2 game as a bonus animal download that was put into Ultimate Collection. This remake is really well made, it has no bugs or glitches, the modeling and textures are accurate compared to the real animal, and it can breed properly in the game. I recommend checking this mod out for a more realistic approach to Zoo Tycoon 2.
My Rating: 10/10
