-Missive- Commoner Belgophi

Вторник, 08 Декабря 2020 г. 21:23 + в цитатник
Despite their whole 'colonial roles' thing, the Belgophi will still have each of their variants fleshed out individually. Their 'kingdom' is laid out in a way where each caste is sort of segregated. Think of circles in circles, with each more important variant occupying the more inside circle. You need to make good friends with the commoners before you're allowed to meet the elites, then the nobles, and finally the royal(s).

As some of you may have noticed, I'm currently remaking the Denizens in the same order that I uploaded them. That isn't necessarily going to carry on though. I'd be a-ok with jumping around to a few different Denizens. So, if you have a favorite you'd like to see redone next, just let me know and maybe I'll do that one next. These redos typically take about 3-4 days to finish, but have been really fulfilling to work on. Has a feeling of finality to them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Species: Belgophi
Variant: Commoner

Classification: Arthropod
Active Cycle: Variable
Diet: Liquivore; Pre-digested sugar and plant matter
Territory: Savanna

Common Trait 1: Tough
Common Trait 2: Skilled
Mixed Trait: Lazy

In order for us to properly fabricate and repair equipment, utilities, and ultimately our craft, we will need to be able to gather and refine metal resources. From what I've observed in this planet's native Denizens, one of the few to actually refine and use metal tools are the Belgophi. They are a rather open species that actively trade with many of their neighboring Denizens, but the internal society is rigidly separated by a strict caste system. To be frank, you will not be able to meet the ruling members of this society without an incredible amount of effort. Until then, I recommend sourcing what metal resources you can that are available for trade, and to appeal yourself to the lower caste Belgophi. Continue working towards an amiable relationship with these Denizens, and we will have a much easier time surviving on this world.

The kingdoms that Belgophi form number anywhere from 200 to 600 individual members, 75% of which are considered 'Commoners'. Commoners occupy the outermost regions of the kingdom, with workers delving out of the city, or deeper into it in order to complete their jobs. Commoner Belgophi collect ore, stone, and sugar rich plants from outside their borders and bring them back to the kingdom. Rudimentary iron tools are crafted to help in the breaking of stone, and are often times fastened directly to the Belgophi's carapace. Their large claws are not fit for detailed work, and often times have difficulty holding onto objects without damaging them. They will use their surprisingly dexterous feet to tie the cords of their clothes, the fabric of which they trade for from surrounding Denizen species. Wood, fabric, and other materials are not produced within their kingdom, and must be traded for.

Belgophi have there own spoken language, as well as a rudimentary written script that takes the form of long carved gouges. Although many members of their society will learn to read and write this language, it is rarely used in their everyday lives. Often times it is only utilized in sigh making and decrees made by the ruling Royal Belgophi.
