Description: The Plateosaurus is an extinct genus of Plateosaurid Dinosaur that lived during the Late Triassic Period in what is now northern and central Europe and Greenland. Being a basal Sauropodomorph, it and several other closely related dinosaurs are all considered Prosauropods, while this is still an accurate term for these extinct animals, the new scientifically accurate term for these animals is basal Sauropodomorphs, the Plateosaurus being one of the best known of these animals. 2 Plateosaurus species are known, the larger P. Engelhardti and the smaller P. Gracilis, scientists believe that these 2 species show some form of evolution during the time the genus was alive on Earth, getting bigger as time went on in the Late Triassic. Even though we have several well preserved fossils and near complete skeletons of the Plateosaurus, for a long time it was one of the most misunderstood Dinosaurs known, once thought to be quadrupedal herbivore that can shift to bipedal like later Ornithopods, we now know it was completely bipedal in posture, it's front limbs had hands with clawed fingers that it could use for feeding and for defense against predators like Liliensternus, and just like the later Sauropods, it would have swallowed stones called gastroliths to grind of vegetation in its stomach.

Personal Thoughts: I have seen this Dinosaur several times in different sources of media, like Walking With Dinosaurs, this one being based on the original documentary series, not the Live Experience variation. I do recall the Plateosaurus being in the first Zoo Tycoon game, it would be cool to see that brought into Zoo Tycoon 2 with the same colors and sounds (Which are the most easily recognizable Plateosaurus sounds in my opinion) but also with an updated posture. I do love this rendition of the Plateosaurus, with a model and textures accurate compared to the source material it's based on, and it can breed properly. But I did notice one thing odd, whenever it turns, the model starts to flicker and glitch, the odd part of this is that it never glitched like that before this review. Other than that minor thing, I do recommend having this in a Dinosaur zoo.
